Helena Twinings, the Acting Chief Registration Officer, steps up to a microphone. Klieg lights flare up, forcing her to blink momentarily, and turning her highly polished glasses into spots of white light. She smiles warily, and taps the microphone. A slightly distorted tap wavers back. Twinings coughs, causing some feedback, and a wave of camera flashes sparkle.
"Thank you, thank you," she says, her voice starting softly and quickly picking up strength. "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. The CRO has completed its tabulation of votes from across Eutopia, and we are prepared to release the results."
She takes a sip of water, watching with some amusement the sea of pens hovering eagerly over paper. "We'll begin with the legislative election. The breakdown is as follows: Of one hundred available seats, the Party of Liberty shall fill 16, the Moderate Republican Party shall fill 23, the Eutopian Labor Party shall fill 28, and the Eutopian Nationalist Party shall fill 33. Slide, please." Behind her, the wall turns white, and the numbers appears.

"Those are the official results for Term XIII. The Chief Justice has asked me to remind the newly elected legislators that their first order of business must be the appointment of a Vice President and Speaker of the General Assembly. The newly elected executive branch must prepare a budget for the General Assembly."
Twinings removes her glasses and smiles. "On behalf of the CRO, I'd like to be the first to congratulate the new executive branch, the new legislators, the parties, and the people of Eutopia. We have held a very successful election in the wake of a military coup, and we have returned to our beloved democracy." Twinings chokes on the last few words, and the tears in her eyes scintillate as the cameras flash.

Not nearly as emotional as she was three years previously, when democracy was newly returned to Eutopia, Helena Twinings, now fully invested as Chief Registration Officer, takes the podium. She is clad in conservative gray, her hair pulled back into a severe bun. "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen," she says as the cameras begin to snap. "The Office has compiled the votes cast in this election, and is prepared to present you with the results.
"First, the General Assembly election. Of the 100 seats available, 38 will be filled by the Eutopian Labour Party; 26 will be filled by the Party of Liberty; 21 will be filled by the Eutopian Nationalist Party; and 15 will be filled by the Patriotic Eutopians for Liberty. Could I have the slide, please? Thank you."

There is a great deal of scribbling, and Twinings pauses for a moment to let it subside. "Thank you. Now, on to the executive election. And the Eutopian Nationalist Party will fill the office of Attorney General. Slide?"

"Those are the official election results for Term XIV. I wish to reiterate the Chief Justice's note from a term past, and remind the General Assembly that their first duty is to elect a new Speaker.
"My congratulations to the new government. This was an orderly and closely contested election, and I am confident the Eutopian people will be satisfied with those they have elected."
