What determines the price of a new holding? It seems to scale with something and building a castle in the last slot available in Barcelone seems ridiculously expensive (844 gold). Is there a way to reduce this?

Number of holding in the county and construction tech level, as far as i believe.

Numbers of holding in the county (+100 gold for each non-tribe holding), artifacts and character modifiers, technology, societies, maybe something else

Being a member of the monastic societies (Benedictine, Dominican, etc.) also gives a significant discount for temple holdings specifically (making them much cheaper than castle or city holdings by the time you reach the highest level).

Stoic Intelligentsia gives discount on building cities
