I know you probably do not support Fedora, but I think this error is kinda severe and will most certainly reach your supported Ubuntu if it is not fixed.,

When choosing a character after selecting e.g. "new game" and pressing start, the game loads, but when the map should be displayed I get a black screen.

error.log shows this:

```
So I assume it has to do with a new mesa aka vulkan driver version (?)
As said above I am running Fedora 40 with these mesa drivers:
Graphics:
Device-1: AMD Navi 31 [Radeon RX 7900 XT/7900 XTX/7900M] driver: amdgpu
v: kernel
Display: server: X.Org v: 23.2.6 with: Xwayland v: 23.2.6 driver: X:
loaded: amdgpu unloaded: fbdev,modesetting,radeon,vesa dri: radeonsi
gpu: amdgpu resolution: 1: 2560x1440~90Hz 2: 1920x1200~60Hz
API: EGL v: 1.5 drivers: radeonsi,swrast platforms: x11,surfaceless,device
API: OpenGL v: 4.6 compat-v: 4.5 vendor: amd mesa v: 24.0.5 renderer: AMD
Radeon RX 7900 GRE (radeonsi navi31 LLVM 18.1.1 DRM 3.57
6.8.7-300.fc40.x86_64)
API: Vulkan v: 1.3.280 drivers: N/A surfaces: xcb,xlib
Since it also could be a video driver issue, I also opened a bug report for the amdgpu driver here:
This is the same issue we see on MacOS with Intel video, so I think you are right that it is an issue with your AMD or Mesa drivers.
Can you test that by reverting those?
Does it matter what display mode or resolution you pick?
Do you have a solution for the MacOS Scenario?
As Intel video is not supported hardware on the Mac version, not really, no. All they can really do is revert to an older game version that was not so picky, or if they have Apple Bootcamp installed run the game under Windows.
Good luck with the driver and Mesa reversion!
