I'm guessing the answer is a definite NO.

CKIII is currently getting all the love right now, but wondered if the original Crusader Kings will ever receive some attention again?

I noticed that the original 2004 game doesn't include family CoA, and the interface is terribly clunky when unfaily compared to the 2014 CKII.

Just wondering if the official Paradox Interactive had plans for 2024 to make update? Or if mods made by devoted players exist to achieve these ends of improving playability?

Thanks, will be watching keenly!

Updating CK 1 ?
The last patch got released 13 years ago.
What would you expect ?
Even CK2 hasn't got that last bugfix patch everyone hoped for.
Why "for 2024" ?

Terrribly clunky interface ? The interface is pretty simple and clear and easy to use once you are used to it.
Having to click the shield top left for the menu window to open though is...rather weird indeed.
Nothing mods do or can change.

Mods are around, but what are you asking for ?
What are "these ends of improving playability" ?

Protip, in case that's one thing you might refer to, the ledger has the shortcut F6.
Opening the ledger through that tiny button was and is the most annoying part of the UI for me, especially when the game crashes after clicking on it,
hence why i tend to only use F6 instead of that tiny button nowadays.

I don't think that offical Paradox will (ever) answer. ;)
That doesn't happen anymore.

I said 2024 as it would be twenty years since it was first released back in 2004. It's an upcoming anniversary which I thought could be used to commemorate the game with a re-release: improving the interface would involve lots of stuff, but imagine that the CK community would get behind it.

It's just a proposal, I certainly would like to see a new & improved version but if CK2 isn't getting a bugfix patch I realise it may seem unlikely.

Once the sequel game is released, the odds of ever seeing another patch for the old game are slim at best. For a game two generations behind, it just isn't going to happen. There's not enough interest in it to warrant developer time being spent on it. Besides, if they patch the old dinosaur, the few remaining players will have even less reason to buy the newer ones.

I also love to play the game...

I can only recommend to make use of mods then.

Outside of minor mods (marriage for all,muslim-pagan playable, better sounds, portraits etc)
there are also big mods such as :
DVIP (Deus Vult Improvement Pack),
TASS (The Alternative secenario setup),
Before the Conquest,
Winds o Winter,
Mappa Regnorum (only map changes, as far as i recall).

It would be great if there were a bunch of devs willing to improve the game via modifying the source code with permission from Paradox (like For the Glory exists in relation to EU2, and Arsenal of Democracy/Darkest Hour exist in relation to HOI2.) But seemingly no one is willing to do that, so yeah.
