I just finished playing the second Monarch's Journey (Llywellyn the Great) and it was pretty fun overall. However, I did stumble onto a mechanic that was somewhat annoying. Richard the Lionheart had set up an antipope before he died, so when I pulled an invasion on his son and won, I got their antipope along with England.
The regular pope was my buddy so I tried to "cancel" my anti-papacy, because I didn't want to piss him off. However, I was surprised to discover that you pretty much can't do that: there's no diplomatic interaction, no direct mechanic for getting rid of your antipopes. You can't revoke their titles even when they're imprisoned, and killing them only makes someone else take their place. So if you don't want to press their papal claim, the only way is to... grant them independence, I guess?
I'm not sure how this could be handled from a mechanics point of view, and I'm fully aware this game is pretty much dead by now, but this is one of those things the game needs to polish before being "finished". I suppose one way to do it would be to get rid of antipapal succession: when your antipope dies, that's it. If you want another one, you'll have to go through the process again. Not sure how historically accurate that would be, but at least it's something.
TL;DR: We shouldn't be inheriting other rulers' antipopes, give us a way to get rid of them!
