Be careful though, if some of our jump capable ships get destroyed and we are forced to "Withdraw to future victories", we may lose a large amount of our non jump capable ships to the advancing enemies.

If we changed nothing but the engines on our Fighters, they would move at 13,089 kps. Zzzzzzzzzip!

We've taken that risk before. In that first desperate battle in the Wolf 294 system, only the Agincourt was capable of extracting the six Carriers... and she ended up coming fairly close to being lost.

From now on, we can try to ensure that each squadron contains at least two ships capable of evacuating the whole squadron.

Sounds awesome!

And we could finally actively pursue (or flee from) the Prix!

13000 kps sounds good to me :) I'm not sure what else we would change, I don't think we can justify armour yet, and we seem satisfied with many lightly armed fighters.

A recent post in the help thread said that squadron jump size is only for determining whether you can make a squadron jump, where your ships will maintain formation and arrive at a distance from the jump point (potentially outside of a hypothetical minefield). A fleet can still jump even if it only has one jump ship left, as long as it's the biggest ship.

I'm not sure if that's at all true (in fact it seems to contradict an earlier episode of this AAR where it turned out commercial ships could only escort one non-jump commercial ship through a jump point at a time), but if it is it means we have less to worry about. The fleet will still be able to jump into a hostile system with a squadron jump, and if we have to retreat it doesn't particularly matter.

As long as it's not smaller than any of the ships that it's escorting. Equal tonnage is OK.

At that time, I was using "squadron jumps"... I hadn't figured out the mechanics yet. For a standard transit (instead of squadron transit), only one jump-capable ship is required, regardless of the size of the squadron... as long as it's not smaller than any of the others.

So do we want to rename the new planet of Wolf 294 A-II? We could call it "Warhead", or "Conquest", or "Payback", or "Sparta"...

... or "xirP" (that's what Prix look like when they're leaving).

Styx

Or we could call it "T-800", because, as the Prix found out, "We will be back" ;)

The Geo-scout ESN Hutton has completed its scan of the captured world Wolf 294 A-II...

Ye gods man!

Notice... it doesn't even say "City". It says "Cities".

Maybe we should name this place El Dorado, after the legendary "City of Gold".

EDIT:

Governor Richard Nixon has been transferred from the colony world of Sigms Draconis A-II to the new colony world of El Dorado.

A Xenology Team is being assembled.

Considering the graveyard of wrecks littering the system, perhaps Elysium would be more apt? :p

I propose the Guillaume HJ I Memorial System :p

(I also wish to point out that my initial character's sacrifice paved the way for all this :p )

I suggested Styx since it rhymes with Prix, but same premise. :D

By executive fiat, I have named the new world "El Dorado". We will soon have a Xeno team on the spot, exploring those ruins.

According to the Wiki:

Ruins appear to be classified according to two values, Condition and Size. Condition appears to range from Ruined(?) to Intact(?), and Size appears to range from Settlement(?) to Surface Cities(?).

Both Size and Condition appear to modify how many installations are able to be recovered, with larger and more intact ruins having more potential installations.

... so it seems that we got the maximum possible rolls for both "Size" and "Condition". It just doesn't GET any better than this!
