Her Majesty's Government is broadly pleased with the success of our nascent aviation programme. The rise in aircraft accidents is a regrettable side-effect; we apologise to our neighbours, the Kingdom of Belgium and the German Empire, for these unfortunate instances of amateurism. Nonetheless, Her Majesty's Government considers it extraordinary that such a small country as the Kingdom of the Netherlands could so swiftly develop an aviation programme from scratch and immediately place it into development, all within a year. This success was matched by our efforts to modernise the Royal Navy, as well as improve the attractiveness of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to overseas investors, which has now rendered our nation the most amiable to business in the world.

Naturally, we must temper our triumph with disappoint. Her Majesty's Government condemns the shoddy labour of the Defence Line around Amsterdam, a demonstration that national defence is best served by state supervision; we shall rectify this in the coming year. Similarly, there seems to have been a breakdown in communication with the administrators of the Netherlands East Indies. Her Majesty's Government was fully in favour of developing the infrastructure of the East Indies, and would have expressed its full support for such an endeavour. We shall work to ensure clarity in our communications with the Asian colonies and so avoid such a misunderstanding in future.

Finally, Her Majesty's Government once again presents a diplomatic proposal for the validation of the great powers. We are sure that the foreign departments of said powers are as tired of reading our proposals as we are of writing them, but we must have this issue resolved. There exists no comprehensive, international treaty guaranteeing the neutrality of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. While a majority of nations have come to a de facto agreement in this regard, recent events in Brazil demonstrate how old assurances can be swiftly abrogated. As such, we must have this neutrality enshrined in international law and in convention with the aforementioned powers. Since previous negotiations proved cumbersome, we have decided to settle for a consensus among select powers first, with a view to extension at a later date:

Treaty of Amsterdam

1. The Kingdom of the Netherlands shall declare itself a neutral state and adopt non-intervensionism as a constitutional policy.
2. The Kingdom of the Netherlands shall be prohibited from applying to any military alliance in future.
3. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and the German Empire shall guarantee the neutrality of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
4. The Kingdom of the Netherlands shall adopt a free trade agreement with all the undersigned nations and pledge never to embargo or otherwise impede trade.
5. The Kingdom of the Netherlands shall reject any offer of military movement through its territory by another power.

Signed,

[X] Her Majesty, Wilhelmina I, Queen of the Netherlands
[ ] His Majesty, Edward VII, King of Great Britain and Ireland and Emperor of India
[ ] His Majesty, Wilhelm II, King of Prussia and German Emperor

The Kingdom of Italy is concerned with the Ottoman empires violation of Treaty of Constantinople, we have placed our navy on a high state of alert and are considering all our options.

As is required for such a task the United Kingdom officially Declares War on the Ottoman Empire. People and nations we are responsible for the safety of were made unsafe as a result of the policies of the Sultan. Regardless of direct or indirect action or even inaction it was his leadership that brought the situation about. Such leadership must be removed to end the threat against citizens the Empires armed forces are set to defend. We call upon the other nations to allow us the remove this threat and not interfere as it was not your interests and your duty under assault.

When the Sultan steps down or is removed and a new government forms we will work as best with that new government as can be done to insure those we must secure are safe. The United Kingdom is obliged to defend Arabia and Kuwait in the present the same as were any Dominion attacked or our own direct lands assaulted or raided.

Any Ottoman forces that choose to stand down can retain their uniform and freedom so long as they don't bear arms against us and don't prevent us removing the Sultan. As per our pledge no fist of dirt will change hands to us and if the Sultan and his leaders are removed we will stand down and vacate the lands.

Yes of course, as always, it is everybody's fault but the English man. We divided and weakened the Ottoman Empire. We caused the people to rebel against governments they didn't want to be ruled by. We have brought the political and economic stability of the whole world down to its knees!

We call upon the other nations to allow us the remove this threat and not interfere as it was not your interests and your duty under assault.

EDIT: OOC: Sorry, I Misread

We didn't attack you. Instead, maybe you should stop making excuses and listen to the people who you currently rule over. Stop suppressing the voice of the people!

No, instead you shall create a puppet government, just like you have in Arabia.

We suspected this would happen. It is why we never demobilised our forces. Once again, the English, like the French, have broken their treaty, showing the world once more that they are nothing but dishonourable, cowardly scum.

The Sultan shall take up arms to defend the Empire. He asks that all other loyal citizens do likewise.

It is the express wish of the United States for all our allies to be stable and prosper. And in did we have tried to aid your economy directly, but that was met with failure due to corruption in your nation, as such it became the position of the government that private investors would be the best for the treaty as per the treaty, which applied to individuals. We are also amused that the Brazilian government squanders money so needed for its economy for militaristic purposes. For the purposes of the Brazilian Civil War, it was our firm belief that the decisions to who should govern them is best left to themselves not a foreign power. The anti-Brazilian league was never funded by the United States, furthermore our payments to Colombia occurred both well before and after the Civil War. Furthermore, it is obvious by the Brazilians nationalistic and protectionist stance that it does not desire foreign capital, and would rather place it's boot firmly on the wind pipe of its nation. Still we are most troubled by both the abrogronation of the treaty by Brazil when the United States never violated said treaties strictures, they were followed to the letter, while Brazil has shown a flagrant disregard for it. Finally the mounting Brazilian debt is troubling to our nation due to how it could lead to foreign intervention.

By "stable and prosper" you mean the current situation of countries like Guyana, don't you? De Facto puppets. When have you acted for the common interests of the Americas, as per that treaty? Did you care about our position on the Guyana issue, did you act to create a strong state there, instead of a puppet? What about your annexation of Panama? Did the population even get to choose? No, you bought the territory from the Colombians.
As for your investments, are you sure the problem isn't with your own officials, who handed the money to corrupt officials in the old and corrupt regime?
On the Brazilian civil war, it was clear that we had the most support from the population, yet despite several requests you refused to recognize our government, and prefered to give money to the allies of the oligarchs. Is this what an ally should do? Colombia is the leader of the Anti-Brazilian league, your money was used against Brazil by the colombians, yet you did not show any signs of opposition towards that.
Dollars and weapons came from Colombia and were given to the Oligarchs, we have proof of that.
Protectionist, yes. But only as much as to protect our internal industry from unfair competition, as that gives needed power to the government. Our allies had no need to fear, as when we trust the company and country it is based on we will allow it to do business inside Brazil with no restrictions from that law. And even then, provided our industry keeps to prosper, foreign companies will be able to keep expanding, maybe if you desired to be a true ally you would not be arguing against our recent actions and would instead have tried to negotiate with us before claiming we broke a treaty that was broken by you previously.

As for our debt, i don't see how you can be troubled and claim it can lead to "foreign intervention", first, most of it is not external debt, second, if we took any loans from other countries, you can be sure we have given priority to allies we trust. And finally, we are well capable of paying it whiout breaking any of the deals we took.

I would rather have friendly relations with the United States, but we can't call your actions the actions of an ally.

May 25th 1910 will mark the First Centennial of the May Revolution, when our Nation's forefathers established the first Government free of foreign, colonial rule. We mark this date as the birth of our life as an autonomous Nation, even though the formal independence was only declared 6 years later.

In light of this transcendental date, all sorts of activities will take place along 1910 thorough the Republic.A main parade in the Capital, an international exposition, debates, lectures will guarantee that all aspects of life will take part in this.

However, being the heterogeneous society we are, blessed with immigrants from the far corners of the Earth and connected through links of trade and friendship with the nations of the world; we open our celebrations to them as well. So come our fellow South American neighbors, that fought with the same sword for freedom; come Spain, that is the source of our national identity, come the nations of Europe, that have modeled our development, come nations of the world, for our celebration is yours as well.

One of the central events of the year will be the First Football World Cup.

In light of the explosive growth sport has shown in the last years, specially highlighted in the now regular Olympic Games; and considering how football has become the new national sport, when merely 25 years ago it was something that only the "strange gringos" did, we have proposed to the Fédération Internationale de Football Association to hold a separate, football only tournament. Graciously, they have agreed to such proposal and currently preparations are underway.

Therefore, in the months of August and September the stadiums of Buenos Aires shall welcome the teams representing the many associations of football along the wold. Let the best team win, for the public rejoice and the development of sport.

Buenos Aires 1910 awaits!

From the Desk of His Majesty the King of Spain

Madrid, Madrid
España

20 January 1910

To Admiral José Ferrándiz y Niño,

I write to you today to inform you of the need for an expansion of the Royal Navy. This building program shall entail the construction of one half-dozen submarines, to be constructed and designed as you see fit (in accordance with design teams and those that make them up, which shall be attached following the closing of this letter), twenty ships of smaller tonnage and size (including, but not limited to, those of destroyer, gunboat, and light cruiser size and classification), eight ships of larger size (including, but not limited to, armored cruisers and reinforced ironclads), and two dreadnoughts. These dreadnoughts, per specification and following review and deliberation with the General Staff and the Intelligence Agency, must exceed eight single cannons per ship, with each cannon being a calibre of twelve inches or more. To ensure competitiveness and effectiveness, and to deride those that shall make these grand warships obsolete, these ships are to be of the highest quality, their crews trained with the highest frequency to hone their skills as sailors on the largest ships of the Spanish Fleet. To maximize the longevity and lifespan of these dreadnoughts, room must be made so that, when foreign dreadnoughts are upgraded and expanded technologically, including new design features that would outclass any older models, our ships must be able to be upgradeable to keep them as formidable weapons. These two ships are massive investments for the Spanish Fleet and they must be made as powerful and cost-effective as possible.

With tensions rising between the Western European Powers and the Ottoman Turks in the Near East, the Mediterranean is quickly becoming a hotbed for action, and could soon see a large naval war should imperialist ambitions get the best of those that are attempting to keep the peace. If such an event occurs during my reign, our Fleet must be ready to keep the peace, to defend Spanish interests in the Mediterranean and elsewhere, and to deter foreign attacks, invasions, and incursions in Spanish waters and territory.

I entrust upon you all that is needed to conduct this naval program to ensure Spain's naval sovereignty and her survival as a nation. My trust is upon you.

Alfonso XIII
His Royal Majesty the King of Spain

The Second Bourbon Restoration

On a cold January Morning, President Louis Franchet d'Espèrey was huddled in a secret meeting with Infante Alfonso Carlos, Duke of San Jaime. The Duke, just so happened to hold the Legitimist Claim to the Throne of France. The President announced, using sketchy tactics in Parliament, he declared himself Prime Minister of the Third French Empire, with Emperor Charles XII as the reigning monarch. At first, the announcement caused almost half of the French Army to desert, and half of the Parliament to declare opposition. The Prime Minister pushed forward with his agenda, and Alfonso Carlos was declared the Emperor of the French on March 18th, 1910. The resulting chaos from this soon saw the French Republic take a steady stumble down the hill. To try and stop such a slide, Emperor Charles XII attempted to renounce his claim to the Spanish Throne, which he did, but it did little to calm the population.

Emperor Charles XII of France

Coming out of this, and the return of the French Throne, Prince Philippe d'Orléans, Duke of Orléans rose up in Southern France, proclaiming that he was Emperor of the French, due to his position as the Orléanist claimant. Not to be outdone, Victor, Prince Napoléon, in Aquitaine, declared himself Napoléon V, Emperor of the French. This sudden influx of monarchist pretenders and claimants suddenly sparked a massive drain on Emperor Charles' resources, as 60% of the French Army defected, and 65% of the Military Command moved to support the other claimants. Lost within all the noise, were the Republican forces, who wished to see a total death of the Monarchy, and a restoration of the Republic. Their support was located in Northeastern France, along the border with Germany. Louis Moreau, an unknown mayor of a French town on a the border of Germany, proclaimed himself the President of France, and set together a quick election, confirming his status. One of his first moves was to prose a Treaty with the German Empire, asking them not to intervene in the French Civil War, and for the two nations to begin to trade.

The first battle took place between Legitimist and Bonapartist forces, in Paris. The Legitmists attempted to turn Paris into a complete bunker, unable to be assaulted from any side. The problem, however, is that the city's defenses were recently refitted, and some had some faults in them. The General who knew of all of these faults now supported Emperor Napoléon V, and after a grueling three month battle, Emperor Charles XII was forced to leave the City of Paris and head North, with Emperor Napoléon V taking control of the city. Emperor Charles XII ordered his soldiers North a few KM, and to dig Trenches, to stop any advance from the Bonapartist forces.

world-war-i-color-photo-french-trenches.jpg

Legitmist Trenches outside Paris

The Battle proved to be a victory for the Bonapartist forces, but the Legitmist forces were also given a large boost in manpower, with their desire to win back Paris burning strong. The one thing that every Frenchmen knew, however, is that this Civil War was not going to be quick.

OOC: Holy shit.

OOC: Well, um, France is fractured!

OOC: Wait, why are the non Bonapartist factions claiming to be Emperors?

Because Maxwell happened.

An Address from Paris, From Emperor Victor-Napoleon V
BonapartisteFlagcopy.jpg

Mes Amis! The whole world looks on as France throws off the shackles of her vile oppressors, and welcomes forth a new Emperor to lead her to glory. Which other house can claim to have conquered so much in the name of France and La Gloireas House Bonaparte! My forefathers crushed all before them and led France to her destiny, only to be betrayed in the 11th hour by vicious Jacobin anarchistes and Bourbon trahirs. France has been humiliated time and time again, and now is the moment for us to show the world that France has more than meets the eye. The French nation yearns to have itself heard, and indeed they have spoken. People of France, people of the Monde, we are not going to go softly into the sweet night. Non!. We will come roaring back from the depths of depression and failure, and ascend to what was fated for us from the baptism of Charlemagne. France will be the greatest power the world has ever seen, and that begins now, with the restoration of House Bonaparte for eternity.

Alons-y, and let the world tremble at the mere whisper of Bonaparte!

Her Majesty's Government must confess to being utterly bemused at the situation in France. It is clear that some grand conspiracy has gone awry. And now we are faced by civil war, for the first time in decades. It was our hope that France had emerged from the political turmoil of the previous century. Now, this precious stability has been undone by the blundering schemes of her statesmen. Until such a time as the situation has stabilised and a national government made clear, Her Majesty's Government shall amend the Treaty of Amsterdam to excise the French. Thus, we shall seek agreement only with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and the German Empire at this time.

- Her Majesty, Wilhelmina, Queen of the Netherlands

Well, after what happened this turn and on IRC i resign.
Can't bring my head around some of the things that are being changed in this game, this new income system, with incomes that make no sense, when the old one worked just fine.
...Nor am i willing to endure more of Congo's insults, both on IRC and in this most recent update. His jokes are not fun, they are sick, or should i go around claiming that Keldonia, Boris, etc... are dumb retards because they were born in the USA? Sorry if some do not share this same opnion, but of course, it's always fun when it's done with the others and not with you.

Thanks for the good time, i enjoyed 1861 a lot and even enjoyed this for a while, but some rule changes are unnecessary and only bring more problems into the game. Think your system is perfect and don't want people to complain about it? Okay, whatever.

OOC: Come on guys keep this contained. :)

The Russian Empire is deeply worried about the aggression war the UK is having towards the Ottoman Empire. First, it was the bullying against the Ottoman Empire for the control of the Arabian Peninsula and Kuwait and now an aggression war that will surely dismantle the Ottoman Empire and bring much more instability to the region.

We call the UK to cease this belligerent policy against the Ottoman Empire.
