I think characters like this should have quite good chances to improve their education once you start playing them. Both of those sons are very but they are not well-educated. A smart person realizes his weaknesses and tries to fix them. I think improving your education by one degree should be one ambition but it should be expensive and it should take quite much time. I think CK2 needs more RPG elements so you should be able to develop your character.
