Joining In A War?

I just started a game as Scotland in 1066.

William DoWs me demanding Cumberland, annihilates my army, sieges and takes Atholl, then heads South to deal with a rebellion in England.

I raise my levies and retake Atholl, then head South hoping to aid York against a common enemy.

How do I join in the Duke of York's war against William?

How do I join in the Duke of York's war against William?

You could click on the Duke of York's diplomacy button and see if there's an "offer to join war" option, but I doubt there will be. In any case, it's more in your interest to do as much damage to England as possible before it reunites, rather than help in some local dispute that doesn't involve you.

Despite his ten-thousand men? He probably did something stupid with them like marching them to the top of a hill despite the attacking terrain penalty.

I wish you were allowed to join any war to help which ever side you want to win. Like when you see that Jewish Egypt and want to help it defend against the Islamic Jihad as the Catholic King of Wales or keep the King of France from taking the Crowns of Aquitaine and Burgundy.
