I just find it difficult to believe that they let a man who would otherwise be considered treasonous to the nation, into a Socialist Presidential cabinet. All of the Union should want to go and hang this guy, especially as someone who is representing their foreign interests.

Perhaps the Socialist orator from Texas lacks political experience and guile? He does seem rather...hopeful his ideals of equality and cooperation within the Union will work out.

It is great to see this back, now; let the West turn Red. MUHAHAHAHHAHA!

Nice intro to our red heroes in charge of the US.

So what are you going to do about the "Jim Crow" modifiers that are in the former Confederacy's cores? I would expect a Socialist administration to try and get rid of Jim Crow somehow, be it through Congress, Constitutional Amendments, new Supreme Court judges, but as far as I know there aren't any events in the game to remove them.

That's still a nice national debt you have there, and rapid social reform in Victoria 2 is always a wonderful way to break your economy for a few years.

The safety pin invention really stuck out ;)

Be careful with the safety pin! It helps anarchists boost their numbers. I should think that its presence proved problematic for both Reagan and Thatcher during the 1980s, but history failed to note this development. Perhaps it was the development of rubber AirWair soles by Dr. Klaus Märtens and elastic braces that counterbalanced this? Someone should create a mod for that... :D

Hurrah for facial hair! Hurrah for the reds!

Really liking the progression here, and I hope you can escape from the horrible death-knell that is a Communist polity in V2.

(super excited to see the Parsons administration and the future potential Debs administration)

Thus a socialist president took power in the United States, to the rest of the world's shock. Historians today refer to this period as "The Albert Parsons Project"

Maybe someone is going to be angry at me for reviving an old, deadish looking thread, but...

I really hope you come back to this AAR at some point. I check every week or so to see if you posted again. This really is the best AAR I've ever seen and I enjoy(ed) it thoroughly.

I support this. You had really an amazing story and your graphics are just awesome.
Hoping it will revive somehow to redefine FREEDOM by Socialist standards :p

NOOO!!! I just read the whole thing in one day and now I find it is dead! Please please please bring this back to life. I want to see what a socialist States looks like. Also the narrative hooked me and the graphics were just awesome!

Also, how were you able to buy the province from Morrocco? I thought we couldn't do that? Savegame editing?

I'm sad to say that this AAR is officially dead. Thank you all for your kind words and support, it was very fun writing this!

Many months ago, I became bogged down with work. I intended to revive this at some point, but work didn't let up, so I kept thinking about a conclusory chapter about the breakup of the Union after a young Socialist tries his best to keep a somewhat divided nation whole. Maybe it's best that we don't know how a socialist Union would fare, but I can say this: the road to liberty ends where a socialist government begins.

If I continued this AAR, I would've written about the nationalization of the economy, a sort of "reboot" of the economy. The colonization of Africa: the US would have colonized Nigeria, a small part of the Sahara, and some minor Pacific islands. I planned a big chapter of the Republicans pulling some political maneuvers to rid the government of socialists and the US returning to liberty, culminating in the unveiling of the famous Statue. And finally, I would have liked to finish my population graphs and economic charts as the world economies boom and bust through the first third of the 20th century.

On a personal note, I left my job last month and started my own law practice, so I will be busy for a time. The good thing about this is that I choose my own hours, so I may come back to writing. Unfortunately, to make a long story short, I ended up formatting my hard drive on my laptop so I could run Windows 10, so all files of both this AAR and my short-lived Russian AAR are gone for good. Thus, "muh roads!" will not be built.

Anyway, thank you all for reading. I hope you enjoyed it!

Also, add me on Steam - dutch_hunger - I play Vic2 quite a bit and you can watch my broadcasts (Steam will stream you playing any game if you choose to allow this in your options).

Edit: I see Tumblr, where I hosted my images, must have changed how they link images and many images no longer show up. The image files themselves are still hosted through my Tumblr account, however. I may take a half day one day and redo the links to the images so the images will show up again.

Seriously, this was a great AAR, hope you creat another AAR some time, you have a great style of writing. Watched this since from the beggining, shame it died.

One day we'll see what happens if the reds take command of the states.

And I thought you were going to revive this AAR :( do you have any ideas for another AAR?
