THE IMPERIAL DREAMS

This is my first AAR, I hope You would like it.
English is not my first language, there might be some mistakes or misprints.

As Abyssinia is a small country, I have chosen the easiest difficulty settings to have some chances.

This would be a good story about His Imperial Majesty Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Elect of God, Emperor of Ethiopia, his actions during these hard times, and above all - his dream

Wow! This will be challenging. Good luck!

One of the ministers entered the Great Chamber, where His Imperial Majesty Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Elect of God, Emperor of Ethiopia was sitting on his throne. All the courtiers tried to keep themselves behind it, and keep it as quiet, as it was possible.
To some unoriented outsiders it could appear, that the Emperor was sleeping, his eyes closed, his mouth half-opened.

But for all the courtiers and officials it was clear that the great mind of Emperor was planning great tasks that would make the Abyssinia even greater power then it was on that days.

The minister coughed silently, letting the Emperor know, that he has already arrived.

"Your Imperial Majesty, I have brought the map, as You ordered. Where You want it to be displayed?"
"That wall there? All right people, move it!"

"Your Imperial Majesty, all the ministers and important officials are already waiting on the corridor outside. We can start planning those changes, that You have announced."

"At the moment we don't have any significant problems with supplies. As Your Highness promised, one of my nephews would deal with the necceseary purchases of strategical resources. Thanks to this bold move, we have gathered some amount of additional capital, that my nephew and his whole family gladly transferred to the treasury."

"This is our current intelligence report. In matter of fact there is not much to report. As Your Highness have already suggested, we would not waste our money there."

Yay, Ethiopia :) :D

A week ago I released a small modification of Ethiopia's teams to make it interesting after beating back the Italians:
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?750961-Modified-Ethiopian-tech-teams

If you want to use them, make a backup of the original Ethiopian file (mods\NWO2\db\tech\teams\eth.csv), open the file with notepad and paste the new code in that page, then paste the pics in NWO2\gfx\interface\pics

EDIT: After you take one of the two Italian territories (probably Eritrea), keep a very strong garrison there, I had 6 divisions (!) launch an amphibious assault, which later on became about 14.

"Your Imperial Majesty, now there is some time to check some of our technological progress, as compared to some other great powers in the world."

"As You have ordered, we have checked and updated our knowlege about most recent technological discoveries, that we are currently able to assess on which fields should we focus."

"As for the industrial developement, except some agricultural knowdlege, we are quite far behind the other Empires."

"We can train some military units, usually with the equipement outdated around 12 years."

"Both secret weapons and naval units are totally... secret."

"We have some mariginal knowlege about armor and artillery units, same with airplanes."

"We don't know anything about naval tactics, and the land tactics is barely above the level of tribal warfare."

"Our research speed is really low. That may affect our future plans."

"Our current objective would be to improve our research speed. We should concentrate on developing industrial and infantry technologies first. As we don't have any University in our beautiful country yet, I suggest that we should let the military engineers do the developement of some basics for construction."

"Your Imperial Majesty, Your outstanding mind is widely known for all our people. Can I ask You to play with this little device we have aquired from foreign company? Probably You could tell us what wonders does it do."

Why am I always thinking at Aladeen from 'The Dictator' when I see that photo?

Good luck! I will watch it !

I guess it must be the ratio of military decorations to the serioussness of the holder. (see the Brezniev with all decorations)

Interesting! With a 1933 start, you might even have a chance of holding off Italy. I wonder how an Ethiopia that remains independent might shape world politics?

I believe it would have no direct impact at all :)

Yay, Ethiopia :) :D

If I would succeed in Africa, I would definetely use it. Thanks a lot!
I'm aware of that threat, especially that I would have no time/IC to build a navy that could match the italian.

"Your Imperial Majesty, as we did not wanted to absorb Your precious time, we have kept some of our ministerial staff out of Your Highness sight. As You want to hold a strong grip on our politics now, I would present You all our current ministers."

"We would start with a most brilliant and bright of our ministers, holding both the positions of Head of State and Chief of Intelligence. This is You, Your Imperial Majesty Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Elect of God, Emperor of Ethiopia. There were some misprints in the text about Stern Imperialist, so I had to adjust them to match Your Greatness."

"Head of our government and the minister of security is B. T. Hawariate, and this is also most suitable person to do this job. After all, we prefer to keep an happy amateur on that post then sad amateur. The smile is most important!"

"Third person in charge of our government is Herouy Wolde Selassie, he hold both positions of foreign and armaments ministers. On one side it might be a good idea to do something like Meji restoration in our country, but I personally believe that we should reconsider keeping him in both positions."

"As our government is based on aristocracy, the positions of chief of the navy and chief of staff are hold by the Ras (Prince) Seyum and Ras Muluguetta."

"Our newly opened airport and all knowlege about airplanes is that advanced thanks to our minister of air force, John Robinson."

"Chief of the army, Ras Desta Damtew is a one we have to talk about. Although he is a specialist, that allows us to keep a substantial part of our supplies, I have to report, that substantial part of that part is going missing. It is widely known, that Your son-in-law is selling our supplies to get money for his lavish lifestyle.
My suggestion is, that we should let him to concentrate on other work. Maybe we should send him with an official visit to United States?"

After some consideration the Emperor had asked for some documents to be prepared for HIM to be signed.

"Your Imperial Majesty, I am most honored, that You have listened to my humble advice and decided that we should change two of our ministers."

The minister had handed the documents over to HIM.

"Please sign it here, here and on the last page. Now, we have dimissioned the armaments minister and chief of the army. Our new armaments minister would become the former V-ce President of our Post Office. His through knowlege of the western-type of management would allow us to get more input from our industry, and most important, we would decisively improve our industrial research time."

"The assignment of a new chief of the army - Ras Kassa, is a sign, that we would change the course of our country in the way of making our army stronger. As the new chief of army would have some impact on the speed of training of new infantry units. (I hope it does affects also the speed of upgrading) Also he would gave our armies a little offensive bonus. It might be that little to sway over"

As we all see, the Emperor is signing the documents wearing an uniform. This also is giving some clue that our contry is moving closer to the views of Hawk Lobby.

After the through consideration the Emperor had issued some of the available decisions.

"Your Imperial Majesty, it is clear to everyone, that it would be most profitable for our economy if we would finish the mobilisation. Also, our new chief of army encourages these change. It seems like we have greatly gained after that decision was taken. All levels of our armies was "reduced" to 33% of its power. In mater of fact, most of our armies were elevated to 33%."

"Another issue that was to be resolved by our new chief of army was to reorganize all military units. All the units were strategically deployed to Dire Dawa province. That would take some time as most of our units are travelling by foot."

"As we have some money available in the treasury, we have decided that we should boost our research a little bit."

"At the same time we have allocated all of our production into consumer goods, to lower the popular unrest."

I had to start another game to check if I was right about the impact of end of mobilization.
Is that an exploit? I would have ended the mobilization state anyway, but this way, it was of great adventage for this game.

Another thing: I don't think decisive battle affects your upgrades.

I was wondering about the "Infantry build time and cost: -3%".

Anyone could have any idea if that would also lower the time and cost of infantry upgrades?
And if by "Infantry" they also mean the militia units?

Still, it will be helpful for building more infantry and also for building arty and engineers. Personally, I can't live without INF w/ attached arty and engi :p

Also, you could test whether the build time decrease effects upgrade time by seeing how many IC days the upgrade tab thingy says it will take to upgrade a mil to an inf and then compare it to how many IC days it will take without decisive battle doctrine.

I think it may effect upgrade time but I am not sure

I have just tested that. So it does affect: the time of training of new infantry unit (no militia :( ), the time of upgrading INF unit and also the time to upgrade to INF unit from MIL unit.

So this is good news, except that I propably won't have enough time to upgrade militias.

"Your Imperial Majesty, I believe that it would make the Germans to have an increased demand for fabric. Too bad we don't have much sheeps and only a little of weaving industries."

"Your Imperial Majesty, it seems to me like the US King - Yes, they call him President - is copycating all of our actions. On one side, it is nice to know, that they learn from us, on the other it is an outrage, that they show their actions as beeing genuine.

***
You totally should, since the extremely old MIL gains much more strength than the infantry, it's also faster.

I meant the time to upgrade the MIL to INF. I have to upgrade the MIL units as soon as possible, as they are crucial to my planned defence.

Soon, I woukd show the effects of redeployement and reorganisation.
