Chapter 12 - A New Era
When our fair nation was born, it was in the defense of everything we hold dear. We fought for a home for free people everywhere. Now that we have that home secure, we must expand it to include all Americans, both Free and Confederate. We must fight to emancipate, in order to bring true liberty and justice for all!

Elections begin, and recently liberated Confederates experience decent elections for the first time.
During the elections, socialist arguments gain ground.
The election ends in a liberal victory.
Laws restricting child labor are passed.
The Free Americans begin to develop something instrumental to every country: a national identity.
The World's Fair begins in Richmond. Philadelphia made a bid to host, however it was not chosen.
Immigrants are educated in the Free American way.
The European aristocracy is more impressed with Southern shows of chivalry and gantry, rather than Northern shows of free thought and actions.
In addition to immigration, natural population growth is high.
Immigration rates explode in Canada and the FSA, while in the Confederacy it is almost non-existent.
Scientists from all across the world flock to the Free States.
An official census is conducted.
Free Market-supporting fanatics raid the embassy of the North German Federation, a communist nation.
North German officials accuse the Free American government of supporting the raid, claiming it as a casus belli for war. Despite the big talk, no war comes.
With the truce with the Confederates nearly over, the reserve forces are mobilized. Many wonder if this is merely for self defense, or if it is for something greater...
Increasing Free American influence in Madagascar leads to the annexation of the island (because why not? :blush
Free American intentions are for mobilization are soon clear. In a speech to Congress, the Free American president declares that the mission of the Free American nation is to liberate the enslaved of the continent, and asks Congress to declare war on the Confederacy. The vote is unanimous for war. A new era in American history began, the Emancipation Wars.
