Old Post
Due to my poor ability to make a final decision, I decided to bring decision-marking process of this AAR's country to the masses, everything else being non-interactive. (With the approval of a moderator by the name of Qorten)

That and this is my first time making an AAR.

Now let me put in the things that will apply to the AAR regardless of the country.
1.The country's government will become and stay Radical Socialist for most of the game with the exception of being conquered.
2.The foreign policy will be highly interventionist and militaristic.
3.There will be some modded elements.

Now here are the choices. (I hope you all are fine with them.)

Commune of France: Haven't seen that many good AARs of the Commune of France.
Another American Faction for the Civil War: New England and the PSA need to meet the boot. Replacing New England with a more patriotic socialist faction would be interesting.
Ukraine: Interesting and fills up a void in the Ukraine's politics (No socialists barring social democrats and totalists.), and it even allows for a potential confrontation with the Mad Baron himself.
Netherlands: Interesting and definitely something new. Especially interesting as to what would happen to Indonesia, and the what-ifs of suddenly trying to get South Africa back. Though, I admit that this is a bit unrealistic, even for Kaiserreich.

You have four days to vote via posting here. Have fun.

The Netherlands sounds the most interesting, in my opinion. I look forward to seeing what you do!

The Dutch have some nice domestic events in the lead-up to a potential socialist takeover (or, um, just electing them) and you'd definitely play an active role in the war with Germany. The Commune doesn't get many AARs at all, sadly, but this is probably an even fresher idea.

(That, and there's an actual event for dividing up Flanders-Wallonia, which just gives you more chances to gain land. Woo, militarism.)

Can they turn radical socialist via event chains? That would be quite interesting

Can they turn radical socialist via event chains? That would be quite interesting

You have to wait a bit & pick the right election events. But you can get a socialist-enough government to get an ally-with-France event chain. If they're not exactly radical socialist in that incarnation, it would only be one or two slider moves away. Been awhile since I went for a leftist Austria game.

Edit:
Found the event chain. In the first legislative elections (event 966654, DanubianFederation.txt, Mitteleuropa folder) you can pick Christian Democrats, Liberals, or Social Democratic Workers. Whichever you pick, the emperor gets the choice of appointing a minster-president of the party that won or overriding the vote & picking a head of government from the Christian Democrats. If you elect the Social Democrats, and go with their head of government (a ridiculously young Alexander Dubcek), you get a chance to form a coalition government with the socialists. If you go with the coalition, another event fires where you can choose a moderate social democratic economic platform or to reform the economy along radical syndicalist lines.

Reforming the economy along syndicalist lines will set the flag U25_SYN (syndicalist Danubian Federation), which will allow another event to fire: an attempted military putsch. If you decide the people defeat the putsch, another event will fire informing you the royal house had connections to the putsch. You can keep the royal family or throw the emperor out of power, declaring the Danubian Union (I think the flag changes too). Because of earlier reforms, you should already be in the central planning economic region. Ditching the royal family sets democratic value to 3 and political left value to 9, which is either syndicalist or radical socialist, I can't remember which. I can't find the event that then gives you an option to ally with France, but I remember it triggering once my Danubian Union ditched the Austrian emperor. The Weltkreig was in full swing, France was losing (though Paris had yet to fall), and I was too chicken since I'd been building lots of factories and had a skeleton army ready to be overrun by German border guards (plus 3/4 my army was currently in Spain taking on the Carlists who won their civil war). So I abandoned my socialist brethren, heh. Russia ended up allying with Germany somehow (wtf), so I ended the game with a discontented socialist government strong on its own but isolated from the dominant world alliance (save its puppet in Spain).

There's also a similar event chain following different election results that can devolve the Danubian Federation into a Fascist Austria w/puppets after a nationalist Danubian government defeats a pro-democratic/federal putsch.

And expansive Dutch Empire trying to conquer the whole Pacific!

Radical Socialist and Imperialism.

Sounds contradictory, with Imperialism being how Capitalism sustains itself and all (If I may use Herr Marx's theories.)
