steam said changing files to better format...after that when i ran the game it gave me a message bad file leader death in saved games crash # 1...so i deleted all my saves..at this point i got all the way to starting core. after picking Germany i got to the start of the game and it crashed again...what did steam do to my game

Have you installed your game in a different folder than "progams"?
Have you disabled "historical leader death"?

the game is in the normal folder and it crashes before you get to the options of the core mod....it works fine until you unpause it at start of game

Delete the whole game and check that your AoD-directory is 100% gone under steamapps/common, install again, and make sure you download and install the 1.08 patch before you install CORE again.

ok that seemed to work...so when steam did its thing it just reverted back to what version steam had causing core to crash

I just had this happen; Steam reverted to 1.07. All I did was re-patch AoD with 1.08 and it worked fine.
