When I bought Crusader Kings 2 shortly after it came out, my first thought was, "Wow! This game is awesome!" My second thought was, "Look at all the material I'd have for an AAR!" I've had mixed success with CK2 thus far, but I think I know what I'm doing (he said ominously).

My latest completed AAR, Chaos's Revenge ended a bit early when... well, you'll just have to read the AAR to find out! :D In any case, I asked my readers to vote on the next AAR, so here we are.

I'll be playing as the House of Hohenzollern, better known as the Count of Nürnberg.

House rules:
1. No cheating.
2. No gamey tactics.
3. No ragequits/reloads.
4. No save editing (unless needed for technical reasons.)

Goals:
1. Get a Duchy. I hear Brandenburg is lovely this time of year...
2. Try to recreate Brandenburg-Prussia as best I can ca. 1399.
3. Avoid becoming Holy Roman Emperor if at all possible. Managing all those vassals... *shudder*
4. I will not aggressively pursue opportunities outside Brandenburg-Prussia unless they are contiguous with existing territories or sensible.
5. Survive to 1399. For some players, that might be a given; for me, probably not :)

I'm using 1.06b. This will be narrative with elements of gameplay, although I will focus as much as possible on characters (which the engine is perfect for!) instead of events.

EDIT: I upgraded to 1.08 and purchased Legacy of Rome in the midst of this AAR.

EDIT: I also upgraded to 1.091 and purchased the Republic.

The first update may take a while; I've promised myself I'd try to finish Novum Romanum Imperium 2.0 before I start another AAR. A lot will depend on other non-AAR projects, but I will work this into my regular rotation soon.

As an added bonus, my goal is to make this the first step of a mega campaign, perhaps going as far as HOI3 (or, if it's out by then, East vs. West! :D).

Contest winners (approved by Mr. Capiatlist):
Sirce: Casimir/Cassandra.
Prince of Savoy: Eugene/Sophia
Vrael_1492: Viktor Emmanuel/Konstanze
varetta: Xavier/Elsa
Gen. Marshall: Maximillian/Anna
EtzelHoveri: Burkhard/Gerlinde*
Gen. Marshall: Maximillian/Frederika
generalolaf: Sigmund/Laura
Caezaire: Reinhard/Johanna
Ricardo Rolo: Alarich/Grimhild
Athalcor: Leopold/Adelheid
Giulu: Johan/Johanna
SirktheMonkey: Markus/Barbara
History_Buff: Andreas/Andrea**
Gen. Marshall: Siegmund/Brünnhilde - in EU3!

*EH got a second character with the same names because I messed up. :eek:o
**Technically, HB never gave me a female name.
Italics indicate which character name was used in the AAR.

Good luck with this one.I love your AARs.

Brandenburg-Prussia? Will you just keep both as duchies or do you intend to add a titular kingdom of Prussia?

Furthermore what's difficult about Nürnberg?

Excellent! Subscribing for the future awesomeness.

Nice goals as well. Would you be willing to conquer non-connected land if you could set up a family member as a ruler?

Good luck Avindian, that sounds like fun!

Using it as a territorial reference, although I'd probably keep both as Duchies if I end up with both. I'm extremely lazy concerning umlauts; call it a character flaw. :)

That might be acceptable; I seriously expect I'll have enough trouble surviving.

YES! I loved your Novum Romanum Imperium AARs (the last ones of yours I read) and CK2 is my favourite paradox game! Subbed!

Glad to have you along!

Another Avindian AAR? :D

It's not as bad as all that. ;) With mostly Vicky 2 AARs, I know they'll finish quickly. This is a long term project.

I'm excited for this one. My advice is don't lose and don't win either. It'll make everyone a little happier except for you. :)

I don't know if I'm good enough to not win on purpose.

Your AARs are awesome, but one thing I know about AARs is that no matter the game, if you have too many running at once, it's bad.

Also, did you take inspiration from Wiz's Hohenzollern megacampaign he did a few years ago?

I appreciate your concerns, and they're mine too. However, We, the People has an extremely irregular update schedule and NRI 2.0 is almost done.

Never saw that before, but I'll take a look at it now!

Good luck Avindian, that sounds like fun!

Glad to have you along!

Yay! This will be good for sure!

And i wonder, why not try for the inheritance of a random German duchy, if you come across the opportunity? ;)

Naturally, if the opportunity falls into my lap, how could I say no? I'm just saying I won't aggressively go after it.

Ach, Time für Uns to beat ze evil Swedes!

Go get them!

I always look forward to a new Avindian AAR. :)

And I always look forward to having you along! ;)

Working on my second test game now; trying to work out the kinks thus far.

I love me a good CK2 AAR... colour me subscribed, Herr Avindian!
