((Mother of God, with choices like these, how can America do well! Well, I'm abstaining, unless the, hopefully, eligible Mr. Reynolds wishes to run... of course, I could make my character two years older...))

I feel inclined to point out that one of the flagship points of the constitution is the separation of Church and state. How can we vote for someone who goes against the constitution?

Where in the constitution does it say that? Besides, it's not as though you commies haven't been wiping yourselves with the Constitution for the last 80 years.

"...an establishment of Religion..." refers, in my opinion, to making laws about individual churches, which are not something I plan to interfere with at all. Furthermore, everyone knows that you godless Commies are just going to force everyone to worship Marx and Stalin anyway.

No such thing exists. We admire Reagan for his qualities as a leader. No one, or at least no one sane, is worshiping Reagan. I suggest that you stop with the strawman attacks.

OOC: The irony. It burns.

I myself am a Christian, but I don't wish to force my beliefs onto others. And an establishment sounds like a religious set of beliefs to me.

OOC: I have a feeling this thread is going to go down in the flames of political rhetoric. And I think you can vote now.

You are a Christian? It was my understanding that Communism banned religion? And I am not forcing Christianity upon people, I am only making them pay a tax if they are not, something supporters of the Affordable Care Act should understand.

Since I feel that neither candidate has policies that will promote American freedom and growth, I have decided to announce my own candidacy for President, as a Republican. Unlike my opponent, I will support a platform of sensibility, opposing wars of imperialism, and gradually reducing federal spending and scope over both the populace and industry.

- Charles E. Huntington, Senator from West Virginia

Abortion
I believe we should overturn Roe vs. Wade, and in its place support the states' right to determine the legality of abortion. I also oppose any federal funding for abortion.

Affirmative Action
Affirmative Action laws should be repealed; why should a less qualified person get a job simply on the merit of his or her gender, ethnicity, religion, or nationality. A purely meritocratic system.

Agriculture
Reduce federal subsidies of agriculture, and oppose the conglomerate corporations that dominate the field.

Budget and the Economy
On economic matters, I oppose ending the Bush tax cuts; for my first term in office, if the economy is still not recovering, I will only maintain them. However, if the economy is beginning to recover, I will support their expansion. Regarding spending, I support reducing spending in most areas of government, starting with a ten percent slash to all aspects of the federal government, followed by more precise cuts in military spending and entitlement programmes. I also support welfare reform, reforming social security, and reforming Medicare/Medicaid.

Campaign Financing
I support limiting campaign donations coming from unions, businesses, and other powerful lobbying entities and special interest groups. However, first and foremost, I support total transparency, which I feel would reduce the need to restrict donations.

Censorship and the Internet
I oppose any form of regulation on the internet. Let the internet be the spirit of freedom, and voice of liberty, and a symbol of the free market.

Child Support

I support limited forms of child support, but would rather most such programmes come from state and local governments.

Church vs State

I support the Constitution, and remain committed that Church and State should remain separated.

Civil Rights

I support civil rights, but the Civil Rights Act of 1965 needs to be reworked; it grants to much power to the federal government, especially the presidency.

Federal Reserve
We need to audit the Federal Reserve at once. Limit its power to print money at will.

Global Warming
I oppose federal regulation of businesses; as such, I feel the best way to promote any substantive change would be to promote tax incentives to improve our standards, and to reduce federal support and funding of the chief producers of CO2 emissions (that is, end any federal support to automakers and coal companies). I support reforming and scaling back the powers of the EPA.

Crime
Law enforcement should be left to the states and local communities to regulate and control.

Death Penalty
Capital punishment should be left to the states; however, the federal government should be authorized to use the death penalty against those who commit treason.

Drugs
I believe we should repeal all federal drug prohibition, favouring instead a regulated system like alcohol and tobacco; reduce restrictions on the latter two, as well.

Education
We should repeal No Child Left Behind, dismantle the Department of education, and support a more local, and more privatised form of education. I also believe we should transition our funding from schools to the students themselves, to help promote more choice and educational freedom.

Energy and Oil

Energy independence is my goal; however, it will not happen overnight. What I propose is tertiary; first, we begin deregulating the energy market, so that we can have more competition, more room for innovation, and promote more jobs in the process (they would need fat less money to protect themselves from lawsuits and to obey foolish government restrictions, so they would be able to invest more or hire more); the second goal will be leaving the Middle East, which would hopefully stabilize and bring prices lower in the meantime; third, we will cut some restrictions on drilling and mining (we will maintain the National Parks by creating agreements to trade land (we give up some land that is mineral rich, in exchange for land that is being restored environmentally) to tide us over whilst newer, greener technologies are made more practical and available to the general public.

Taxes
We should, first, maintain the Bush tax cuts; once the economy begins recovering, we should further cut taxes (and spending as well). We do not need a large government, so taxes should be, at most, no higher than, say twenty percent (and would hopefully go much lower than that).

Foreign Policy

American foreign policy has been a wreck since the turn of the 20th Century. We need to drastically change our course of action; first, we need to return our soldiers home from abroad; second, we need to reduce military spending and end foreign aid; third, we need to return to the constitutional and sound principle of actually declaring war.

Free Trade
Free trade is ultimately good for everyone; our problem is not that trade is too free, but our labour market and industrial sector is too regulated.

Gay Rights
I believe that the legality of all forms of marriage should be determined at the state level. I believe the Defence of Marriage Act is substantial in protecting states rights in rejecting another states marriage, but we should go no farther in either direction.

Gun Control
We should repeal all federal gun control, and challenge most state and local laws on their constitutionality.

Healthcare
I believe we should repeal Obama-care, and favour privatising the healthcare industry. Medicare and Medicaid need drastic reform.

Homeland Security
We need to end the Department of Homeland Security, and curtail the powers of the military and FBI to protect civil liberties.

Illegal Immigrants
Liberalize our immigration system; support a method by which illegals presently living in the United States can gain citizenship. Only deport criminals.

Medicare and Medicaid
Medicare and Medicaid should be reformed to keep them solvent for the time being, but should ultimately, and gradually, be phased out.

NAFTA
NAFTA was a good idea, but poorly executed; we need to make some reforms, but most of our problems stem from an overly regulated industrial sector.

Nuclear Energy and Weapons

Reduce nuclear weaponry; support nuclear energy (not with federal funding, though).

Political Corruption
Stricter laws and detection should be put in place to ensure Political Corruption does not happen. We also need to reduce the size and power of government to further stem the growth or power of corruption.

Personal Privacy

I completely oppose any attempt at infringing personal liberties, the cornerstone of our nation; immediately repeal both the PATRIOT Act and the NDAA. Furthermore, federal powers must be reduced to and states' rights protected to limit the power of the government and keep civil liberties from being abused.

School Prayer
School prayer is not in the scope of federal powers; leave it to the states and the local schoolboards to determine.

Stem Cells
I oppose federal funding of stem cell research, but it should be completely legal.

War and Peace
Begin withdrawing from Afghanistan within first month in office; oppose war with Iran.

You know full well that I am not a communist, nor do I believe in communism. I merely believe the government should help the people more. Also, making people pay sounds an awful lot like forcing them to do something. Making people pay is the punishment for driving too fast, and that's illegal. What you propose sounds like making non-Christian religions illegal. America is built on freedom of beliefs and actions. You wish to take away half of America by forcing people to believe thing. How long til you take the other half too?

Surely this fool cannot be serious! The Republican Party has already declared me it's nominee, you cannot just say that you are running as one too. If you insist on running, do so as a Libertarian or some other silly party.

If this were coronation, then I'd take your advice; however, your radicalism will get this party nowhere; your dogmatic support for imperialism, for civil rights abuses, and the curbing our liberties, will be the ruin of this party and this country. It is my duty as a citizen, and as a human being, to do what I can to keep you out of office. Do you fear opposition?

I, Scott Brown, announce my candidacy for President of the United States of America. I will be running as an Independent, as I feel both party's candidates are not fit to lead this nation.

Bellow, I will lay out my platform to bring the country back from the fiscal cliff, and restore confidence and bring Jobs back to the American people.

Abortion
I support a Woman's Right to abortion, but I believe that limits must be put on them, such as Federal Taxpayer dollars going to fund abortions. I believe that a private insurance company or the woman should have to pay for this operation. Medicaid should not pay for abortions in the case of a low-income mother.

Affirmative Action
I believe that someone should be hired upon their abilities, not on the color of their skin.

Agriculture
Agriculture in this nation is simply the backbone of the American people. Without the Wheat and Corn, and other products grown and raised in this nation, we would cease to be a nation. I support tax breaks and relief for farmers struggling to make ends meet.

Budget and the Economy
If elected, I shall push Congress to pass a Balance Budget Amendment, making it unconstitutional for Government to run in the negatives. As for the economy, I wish to start with an extension of the Bush-era Tax Cuts, and then working with Congress to negotiate an across the board tax cut for all Americans, as well as closing tax loopholes. Only when the government can run at a profit, and taxes are cut, can the economy start working again.

Campaign Financing
Campaigns should be financed by the American People, and not special interest groups like corporations or lobbyists.

Censorship and the Internet
I support the First Amendment, so I feel that any form of censorship should be illegal. In terms of the Internet, I think it should be a place for ideas to be exchanged freely. The American Government has no claim to regulate the internet, as it is a world-wide ownership, not just American.

Child Support
Men who abandon women they have conceived a child with should pay Child Support, to ensure that the woman can raise the child properly. I also promote a better enforcement of the current laws.

Church vs State
I support the Constitution, and remain committed that Church and State should remain separated.

Civil Rights
I support the current laws on the books, and their enforcement, of Civil Rights.

Global Warming
The science on Global Warming is not in, and as President I will create a task force for Scientists to find non-biased data on if Global Warming is true or false. If found true, we should work on finding the cause of this, and there is significant man-made Global Warming, we should take steps to try and reduce it.

Crime
Crime should be left to the states and local communities to regulate and control. However, I support Federal Laws giving better protection to Police Officers.

Death Penalty
I believe that the Death Penalty should be removed from this nation, and instead more work put into Prisons, to allow the criminals the time to think about the deeds they have done. This solution is both economical and practicable. It saves the tons of money this country spends on keeping people on Death Row.

Drugs
Current laws in place should be enforced.

Education
As President, I will abolish the Department of Education, and roll back No Child Left Behind, and allow the states to control their own education system. Since the Federal Government stepped in to control the Education in this nation, it has been on the downward trend, and more Government is not the solution.

Energy and Oil
The United States should be energy-independent. As President I will invest in clean energy, as well as Oil Shale drilling, coal mining, off shore drilling, and the completion of the Keystone Oil Pipeline, bringing Jobs and Energy to America.

Taxes
I support the Bush-era Tax Cuts, as well as a new across the board Tax Cut to the American people.

Foreign Policy
America must lead once again. We cannot be afraid to stand up to powers hostile to us, such as North Korea, Cuba, and Iran. I also think that we need to watch what the Russian Federation is doing, to ensure they do not attempt to rebuild from the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Free Trade
American Manufacturing should be protected, and higher tariffs should be enacted on Foreign Products. This would also be used to help offset the losses from Tax Cuts, and it will work towards balancing the budget.

Gay Rights
I support the right to Marriage for Gay Couples.

Gun Control
I feel that a Federal Law, mandating that a "Stand Your Ground" Law should be the law of the land, giving citizens who are being invaded in their home to use deadly force, such as a gun, to protect them and their family. I also support the Assault-Weapons ban, but think that the process should be deregulated slightly, and more funding be sent to enforce the current laws and to try and find those who are breaking the law and owning illegal weapons.

Healthcare
Obamacare is a threat to the United States' future. As President, I will repeal it and work with the Congress in a bi-partisan fashion to replace it with a better programme, most importantly tort-reform and allowing companies to purchase across state lines.

Homeland Security
Homeland Security should be kept as it is, but steps to ensure that privacy should be maintained throughout the nation.

Illegal Immigrants
I support an amnesty for Illegal Immigrants who have no criminal record, and hold a legitimate job. They will have all fees for American Citizenship waved, and if they pass the test, they will be considered American citizens.

Medicare and Medicaid
Medicare and Medicaid should be reformed to try and make sure they are no longer fiscal holes.

NAFTA
NAFTA should be overturned and all foreign nations exporting goods to the United States should be subject to tariffs.

Nuclear Energy and Weapons
Nuclear Energy should be developed to help America become energy independent. Nuclear Weapons should be kept, and work to ensuring other hostile nations do not gain control of Nuclear Weapons.

Political Corruption
Stricter laws and detection should be put in place to ensure Political Corruption does not happen.

Personal Privacy
A persons right to Privacy should be completely respected, and though laws should be enforced on those who break that, such as Social Media and corporations looking to gain information.

Race Relations
The Federal Government's laws on Race Relations are fine as they stand.

School Prayer
Prayer in Schools should be legal, based on what each State seems fit. The Federal Government, under my plan, would not interfere in the Education System, and thus out of its reach.

State of the Union
The United States of America is in trouble. Only my plan would be able to bring her back from the fiscal cliff, reform her, and turn her once again into the Leader of the Free World, with a free and prosperous population.

Stem Cells
I support Stem Cell research to help cure many diseases we combat today.

War and Peace
Peace should always be the option we all strive for. But should any nation or group of people threaten the United States of America, or her allies, we must crush all resistance and ensure that we can make the World safe for Peace.

Scott Brown 2012 - Restore America Now

The conservatives now have three candidates running for the presidency. I suggest that my fellow democrats not follow their example and unite behind Ray Cooper for the presidency.

I merely believe the government should help the people more.
By limiting their ability to get jobs and work for their own benifit? Hah!
Also, making people pay sounds an awful lot like forcing them to do something. Making people pay is the punishment for driving too fast, and that's illegal. What you propose sounds like making non-Christian religions illegal.
So not having insurance is illegal too now? And making people pay for the damage that is done to our nation, both as moral damage, and as physical damage as God shows them the error of their ways, is unjust?
You wish to take away half of America by forcing people to believe thing
.
There are many things wrong with this accusation. First, only 24% of Americans are not Christian. Second, I am not going to "take away" non-Christians, but rather make them pay for the effects their lifestyle has on their neighbors. Finally, I am not going to make people believe things.Even if you register as a Christian, no one is going to make you go to Church. No one is going to make you actively pray. No one is going to make you believe anything because that's not a thing that people can do.
How long til you take the other half too?
I have no idea what this is supposed to mean. Why would I do anything to stop people from being Christian?

I would like to remind Senator Neil that I have running as an Independent, and that I am a Moderate, like many Americans in this nation. Trying to associate me with the more radical elements of the Republican Party is nothing but a falsehood, and something I will speak out against.

It is sad to see the Party of Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln support such a man. Insisting I am a Socialist, when, if you look at my plan, you can see I rebuke tenements of socialism such as Government Welfare, Big Government, High Taxes, and I support personal liberty and freedom. In this nation, while people have the right to free speech, I will support your right to call me a Godless Socialist, but I shall refute your claim, which is inaccurate.

You support the Murder of children, Sodomy, and taking from the hardworking and giving to the lazy. That makes you a Godless Socialist in my book, and by my book I mean the Bible.

OOC: So when does the game actually start?
