Is this going to be a game where World Conquest is achievable or a game where you have to thoroughly plan an invasion, with a lot of strategy involved including the placement of armies? Also, how well will the Fog of War be represented? Not just between nations as war with each other but within an actual nation. Say if a nations lines of communication are severed, would that have any impact on the effectiveness on the army and any re-enforcement it receives? Stuff like this would make it an insta-buy for me.

Can't wait to see Sweden in this game. I live in the centre of the theatre of war during the 1808-09 war with Russia and I have a great interest in that period in history. I even wrote a very extensive website about the Swedish-Russian war of 1808-09 back in 2003. I've always wanted a game to reflect that campaign to see if I could beat the Russians and keep Finland under Swedish rule or play the invading Russians to see what obstacles they were confronting when fighting the Swedes and Finns. I hope this game will provide!

Sweden will be overpowered and Spain wont have enough provinces...ahh, the classics!!! :D

Oh wow, I just now stumbled upon this; it looks really interesting! I should venture out of the RPG section more often.

Spain should have low-supply-limit provinces. IRL the French had a lot of trouble keeping their armies supplied. This in contrast to central and western Europe, which was much richer than Spain.

seeing the amount of soldiers/officers killed by the population and the torture display, I'd hope to see real effect on morale and reinforcements indeed :)

I definetely agree.

Even accepting the grand strategy breath of the game, I think a good FOW implementation will make MOTE a winner. If we think to how relevant was communication and aknowledge of enemy army strenght & position , I think that devs should try to include as much as possible the uncertainty connected to enemy movement with the necessity to scout and probe with light cavalry (not to mention the political importance of allies and spies).

In short, what was napoleon's strategy if not surprising his enemies with fast movement and concentration and to beat them in few large battles: failing to portray this aspect will lead to a EU3 replica in my humble opinion.
Beside that a true working fow system coupled with deciding battles will make MOTE a very amusing and entertaining game to be played MP.

Two questions about the map: 1. Without the outside regions how will the diplomatic (and potential war resources used) relations with America and colonies be represented? 2. Will there be an expansion to show what-ifs about the Haitian rebellion and what if Napoleon had fled Europe to run his nation out of the Louisiana Purchase?

those things were rather irrelevant sideshows to the Napoleonic War, and if deemed important enough, may get an event or two.

This game doesn't really sound that good. 1805 start date? Only Europe? I was hoping for a full-world game like the Paradox main series, just with a Napoleonic focus... (since a time period like this deserves a heavy military focus, like HoI has, instead of being like EU)

EDIT: BTW, I'm assuming Europe means Europe + North Africa + Levant + Turkey. Because you can't really have a Europe map without including the rest of the Mediterranean.

CKII and EU:Rome only feature Europe and the Levant & North Africa...

Besides, what happened in the rest of the world was quite insignificant compared to Europe. Making the entire world (and thus make most of the countries playable and somewhat fun) seems quite like a waste of resources for a Napoleon focussed game.

Agreed. A game about Napoleon with "a heavy military focus like HoI has" really has to be focussed on Europe. Otherwise it becomes just a generic EU3-style country simulator, except restricted to just a 10-year period.

CK2 and EU:R have a more specific focus on a specific area. Euro-centric world history.

The Americas, India and the Far East had enormous economical importance, the game doesn't necessarily need a detailed economical system but leaving this out altogether would make a ahistorical game that won't put you in the same situation countries faced in the Napoleonic Wars.
Even a fully modelled map wouldn't be necessary, off map boxes could have been a perfect middle ground but apparently it's not supposed to be.

Also some examples of Napoleonic theatres of wars that won't be in the game:

And there are of course a whole lot of what-if possibilities thrown right out of the window by being limited to Europe.

Will there be a possibility to free pre-1805 states (like the german states on the left bank of the Rhine) or will there only be states of this timescope (like Poland/Warsaw, which was later founded)?
