((Why can't we enact social reforms?))

((Because - as stated MANY times before - the in-game Upper House doesn't let us to.))

EDIT: Huh, three responses to the same thing. That's funny.

My name is Jose Mendoza, former steward of the late Senor Alejandro Cortez in his Hacienda Santa Monica, good riddance, and now the new representative of Tarapaca. I have witness the oppression of the farmers in his hacienda and I'm here to fight for their rights and every Chilean working class too by spearheading a new Socialist way to bring social justice to the Proletarians, but for now, I vote for Tamiuszki!

(( It is now 10/9 in Andonie's favor by my count. Communistas and Socialistas, get in here and vote! ))

((its actiually part of the rules of the game that the top two candiates go through and the remaining people drop out and they get to revote. AS had been said before by TH, there is nothing stopping anyone putting a bill forward changing the way we vote))

((Its not the top two candidates. Its the top two candidates WITHOUT a majority. If one of them has double the votes of the others combined, the election goes to him.))

((yeah I know. Said that in an earlier post. But this is what applies to us as unlikely anyone would get a majority in 1st round. Despite the comments of some people earlier :) ))

Actually, runoff won't occur because it's just you two left. Anyway, here's your tally (and my tally squares with rudders', by the way).

President:
Carlos Andonie ((rudders10)): 12
Pedro Rivera ((atomicsoda)): 1 ((Withdrawn))
Valentin Severino ((Syriana)): 0 ((Withdrawn))
Osvaldo Tamiuszski ((tamius23)): 9
Abstain: 1

Chief of Staff:
Tarquino Zepeda ((thekinguter)): 0 ((Withdrawn))
Sebastian Roseno ((King50000)): 6
Martin Schmidt ((lordvagrant)): 9
Óscar de Vallenare ((komisha)): 2
Abstain: 4

President: Carlos Andonie
Chief of Staff: Sebastian Roseno

President: Abstain

I hold too many disagreements with Tamiuszski's policies to bring myself to vote for him and the Radical Socialist-dominated block. I had hoped that this election would be a more even one with more chance for others to get into power, but alas it seems as if my hope has been for naught. It seems as if this stale 2-sided system will remain for quite some time. To me, it feels as if though the Chilean democracy is slowly dying. That it is more of a pseudo-democracy. This is a development which I do not approve of.

(( Considering how often you vote and how much you campaign, don't you see the irony in you saying that to him? People in glass houses shouldn't cast stones, and all that. ))

((First of all, it was a joke, hence the :p. Secondly, I have never campaigned for anything other than for myself and the CoS position. Thirdly, we are supposed to vote, this is a democracy.))

Senator Tamiuszski, I would like to know about your plans for the military and the defense of Chile and South America.

I am not seeking to expand the military quite as much as other presidents have. Our army is very large as it is, and there isn't quite as much need to build a larger army as there was in the past, now that we have South America under our hegemony. I do not wish to shrink the army, though.
