((Alright personelly I think the stack should side with the president, it just makes more sense and gives the president actual power over the coup))

((Perhaps in the future the Chief of Staff should control the capital stack))
((I still think the president should have some kind of power during coups other than ministry's he hasn't assigned, that just tempts him not to give out ministry's. Also, King why don't you want be to become COS?))

I Support the Radical Republic (The Coup)

Long have the masses of Chile not had the representation they deserve due to party politics, and unfavorable unions of said parties. We must provide direct election. Let the people see the candidates who will run for them as Men and Women of Chile, not as Liberales, Republicanos, etc...

Long have the rights of Chileans been on a tightrope walk, between the liberties afforded to them, and the oppressors waiting to pounce with words of social freedom.

We must give Chile a Democracy not seen since the first cries of freedom in the French Revolution! The people of Chile deserve a voice, let us give it to them!

Remove the presidency, allow the Senate, as representatives of the people, control. Destroy the COS, and let the directly elected cabinet members put checks and balances on themselves.

We do not wish to create a dictatorship, we do not wish to punish any dissenters to this Radical Republic, we do not wish to censor everyone. We will allow everyone to enjoy the Illustrious Democracy that shall soon follow!

Chile para los Chilenos!

((Wow, this actually might succeed, at the very least I suspect a Chilean civil war))

While my opinion on this matter is little more than symbolic, it is my firm opinion that Andonie has finally crossed the line. This move to dismantle the government in favour of a perpetual liberal dictatorship (I'm a liberal, but not a crazy authoritarian one!) is despicable!

As well, I formally change my vote for Chief of Staff to Eduardo Alvarez (from de Conti), and advise General de Conti to do the same. To the good general, it is no attack at you, as I believe you are a man of honour and integrity, but Admiral Alvarez the Younger has served with dedication for many years, and has a great deal of experience.

My final statement is I now cast my vote for Pedro Rivera! Senor Gogolow has shown his weakness, refusing to condemn the coup attempt by Andonie until he reached a consensus with his party; I did not wait a moment when Severino, a man I agreed with on a great deal of issues, declared his revolution. I cared little about my party's opinion on the matter, and sought to protect this Republic to the best of my ability, and with all my heart.

(just as an out of character note to everyone, we full heartedly actually intend to implement the rhetoric we are spouting. Cabinet positions will be voted in by popular vote of the members of this AAR, same as the Leader of Congress. As rules of the AAR, we are forced to keep the leader of the Coup in power for one election cycle, but after words Adonie will step down for the popular vote for a new Chief of Congress.)

(Also, I find it hilarious that the army in panama supported the coup! There must be a precedent for negotiating access with foreign powers to allow the Army to come in).

As a reminder, keep voting in the Presidential election.

President:
Sérgio Gogołów ((Dyranum)): 6
Pedro Rivera ((atomicsoda)): 4
Armando Renin ((Red Cesar)): 4
Abstain: 1

Chief of Staff:

Eduardo Alvarez ((Gloa)): 5

Minister of the Treasury: Eduardo Romano ((Pallen -- still votes even though deceased)) - ABSTAIN
Minster for War: Jose Aragon ((zagoroth)) - COUP
Minister for Foreign Affairs: Subercasseux ((Lyonessian))
Minister for Employment: Sérgio Gogołów ((Dyranum)) - REPUBLIC

Admiral of the Navy: Eduardo Alvarez ((Gloa)) -- REPUBLIC
Army of Patagonia: General Zepeda ((thekinguter))

Honorable de Santa Rosa, you have always been an advocate of Liberalism. What we propose is a purer Democracy than Chile current has. We will provide freedoms to all citizens, all people, in Chile's illustrious borders. No one is going to be silenced, no one will be punished for supporting this transition, we will continue to let people speak, because this will be a Democracy never before seen in the eyes of the world.

I do not see why anyone could possibly be against this, unless they are against the glory of Democracy.

A Call to the working men of Chile
Even in the face of this treacherous coup we must not forgoe our fight for democratic justice! Vote Mario Juarez for Chief of Staff and we will create a fair and balanced military for all who serve our glorious republic

During a time like this, your political slandering is most despicable. Just because I do not use my powers with authoritarian conviction does not make me "weak". I listen to the voice of the people. The people is an important factor for me when making decisions. If you exclude the people, you exclude any legal basis behind your decisions. I am not an authoritarian man, I am a man of democracy. I listen to the people, unlike you Sir.

All of these arguments illustrate why our new democracy will work. The individual members are free to follow their own conscience without having to compromise their views to make other members of their party or people in a nother party happy. Freedom to vote as you like, freedom in reality not in theory.

I find it funny how Santa Rosa, the man of cowardly centrism and pointless compromise, would accuse someone else of being weak. As I recall, you completely failed to do anything other than hand your cabinet position to one of Andonie's cronies during the Nacionale crisis last election, so I'd prefer not to hear any accusations of weakness from you.

(Now where is our big army to help shove freedom down their throats. ;-), joking, joking.)

Senor Saez, you seem to be mistaken; I left to help your party, not to aid Andonie. In fact, I largely abandoned my resignation attempts in the immediate aftermath of the coup. Indeed, I was actually shocked that my resignation was accepted, since I had returned to work. However, I though it would be more prudent to leave it be, and return to Aurora de Chile, where I have been one of Andonie's harshest critics.

So, your attempts to call me 'weak' hold no water.

Speaking of parties, I would now like to inform the Liberales that I am ending my tenure in that party. This coup, as well as the party's actions over the past few years, has finally persuaded to leave this party, which I feel has become largely discredited. I now hope to return to my old party, the Partido Republicano, which has always remained steadfastly in favour of this great, if flawed, system.

If your party-mates would have supported this coup, would you have, Senor Gogolow? It is all well and fine to listen to the people, but the people are not always right, and that is why this Republic exists, to ensure neither the government (of any country) nor the people are able to oppress the another man. It may be flawed, and we have seen its problems over the years, but this free system is vastly superior to any other system ever devised.

((Also, TH, I changed my vote from de Conti to Alvarez, since the admiral actually seems to have a chance of winning, and Rivera should have another vote, since I've endorsed him))

People have transitioned throughout the ages from oppression to freedom. From a Republic, a Democracy will be born.

Come on socialistas you outnumber them, come out and vote and we can take the Chief of Staff for the Worker!

((Like it'll matter? Besides, I'm on the fence of all this CoS business as I frankly don't really have that good read on the characters campaigning for that position.))
