Short summary of your issue
Interest group clout and approval breaking (seeming like overflow?)
Game Version
1.0.3
What OS are you playing on?
Windows
Do you have mods enabled?
No
Have you tried verifying your game files?
Yes
How much "pain" is this causing you?
8
Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
(quick note about the 8 pain: it's effectively campaign-ending, though it doesn't completely keep me from playing the game since I can just start a new one)
I've had a few incidents where the approval and clout for one of my interest groups abruptly drops to zero. There's no descriptive information for the clout, but the approval breakdown shows ridiculous numbers for Loyalist/Radical political strength. For example, at one point when it happened it was giving me -329688892 Approval due to 665385584% of the interest group's political strength being Loyalist.
It tends to oscillate back and forth, dropping down and then a month later or so returning to normal, but as time went on it happened more frequently and took longer to recover. It's a bit of a game-killer, since my economy collapses from suddenly losing significant bonuses and gaining significant penalties due to angry interest group.
Also likely related: in the attached save game I have an election going on where the votes are broken, with one of the parties (which should be the strongest) expected to get zero votes. That's probably caused by the same thing. This issue isn't caused by the election, though, since it also happened at other times.
Please explain how to reproduce the issue
This only started happening late-game, when my economy was extremely strong (exceeding 1.6 billion GDP) and my population was extremely Loyalist (upwards of 90% of pops Loyalist). Given that, I'd guess it's some kind of overflow issue? The Approval part might not be a cause, it might just be a result of the calculations breaking when the Clout drops to zero.
If you want to reproduce it on another save then maybe try getting very high GDP and very high Loyalist amounts. Also might help to have your population strongly tilted towards one interest group, since I think that was also true for my situation.
Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?
Also attached screenshots of the Clout and Approval breakdowns.
I have attached a save game
