HOW TO FIX - PRAYER, REMOVE GAME FILES IN %APPDATA% AND REINSTALL THE GAME

Just removing the game and mod cash don't seem to help so reinstalling the game and praying that it work seems to be the best first option.

(going offline first might help)

Do a clean uninstallation:
  1. Open the steam library folder you installed the game too
  2. Remove the game from Steam (uninstall)
  3. Manually delete all these files and folders:

…\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities Skylines II\ (if on Steam only)
…\AppData\LocalLow\Colossal Order\Cities Skylines II\
(first move the /saves/ folder elsewhere to keep your offline saves)
(To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer)

0. (Go online if you're offline)
1. Install the game again
2. Start a new test city (NOT load any existing one).
(My personal recommendation for anyone with this issue is to avoid mods until the next update so you don't have to reinstall the game again. The official region packs should still be safe and I tried one of City Planer Plays maps and it seems to work)

Game doesn't go to main menu when starting

The game cannot open further after launching. It happened after the installation of Patch 1.2.0.f1

Game won't launch - recent patch update

game won't launch?

game screen launches from steam. I click Play and game will attempt to load but closes and returns to steam library. I have --disableModding set in l

The game start but it crashes just before getting to the main menu

Game don´t lauch before menu laucher. Game crashs.

Couldn't Open the Game after Updates

Crashes at start

Game crashes immediately after launch!!!

Game crashes on startup

Crash upon game start

Game crashes before reaching main menu after major update dec 12 2024

The game will simply crash even before loading the main menu

Game Crashes When Loading Menu for Xbox Launcher

Crash to Desktop Before Main Menu

Game crashes while loading

Return to the desktop after launching the game.

No mods, no region packs, game exits

crash to desktop when trying to start the game

Crash to desktop

cant load into game keeps cashing on start up, cant even make it to menu

After Update Cities 2 Not Working

Game stuck on start up

Crash to Windows can't play!

Cities Skyline Crash / need help :(

Cities Skylines 2 crashes

Game is crashing to desktop with no errors

(That should be all the post I could find that's older than the update announcement that mentions a crash before the main menu)

Exacly the same problem here, I unistalled all mods removed every inch of software from my pc reinstaled it, and, exacly, the same outcome: a black screen of death

Lets hope they improve the QOC after this and eg start a public beta program where they release updates 1 day earlier to not recreate this ever again

Can you try to remove the Cities Skyline II folder from this location [ AppData\LocalLow\Colossal Order ] and then reinstall the game. Worked for me

I did that before reinstaling the game from steam
but i get a critical error message with an option to continue (that does not work) or save and leave the game (which does exactly what it says )

Yeah, it didn’t work of the bat, but I was wondering if maybe it had to do with the new regions packs so I unsubscribed to all region packs and finally it works but now, I dont know if it as any correlation but it worked I’m not complaining ahaha
