Hi all,

I recently experienced an incredibly odd succession. So I'm a king-level title under a Khagan. My Khagan gives me a bunch of unruly vassals; they rise up against my absolute crown authority and snag my capital. They get lucky and imprison my heir. I lose, and the game gives me the option to either end the game or become a legitimist adventurer. That'd be fine, but my heir now rules my kingdom. To add to the confusion, he offered to support me in overthrowing himself? But if I were to declare a war for my kingdom, it would go against my Khagan, and even though he's my favorite firstborn child of the same dynasty, he didn't form a cadet branch I just don't get to play as him anymore.

I remember previously getting deposed just meant your heir takes over and you change to them. When did this change? I remember that happening back in Crusader Kings 2. As well, does anybody prefer this? I can understand it being an option, but it being the norm just seems frustrating.

This killed a 300+ year campaign for me because shortly after my heir took over, he declared a hopeless independence war and lost the title. I was looking forward to battling my Khagan for independence once I got the proper technologies, but this just killed it. I'll post the save for anyone interested; I'll warn you it's an odd campaign.
