I'm in the middle of a run where I need to own all French cores as Bourbon Spain for the achievement One King Two Crowns. I'm pretty far along, having puppeted Germany and Italy, and capitulated France and UK, so USA is the only Allied major power left. However, I'm having a little worried moment, as I selected Alphonse, instead of Xavier. The event description when you select your king only mentions Xavier being a Bourbon (only realized this afterwards). Will I get the achievement if continue as Alphonse (he died via the Rome event after he became king, so Jamie is king now)? I've looked, but can't seem to find a definitive answer anywhere. I don't feel like going through the effort of defeating USA if I won't get it.

I'm pretty sure that you do in fact have to pick the bourbon king, but I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks. I ended up pushing ahead and I got the achievement. So, if anybody else is wondering the choice of king is irrelevant.

Nice one.
I got the achievement a few weeks ago. I went with Xavier. Also France went Orléanist so they didn't join a faction.
I went historical, so they joined the allies. I only went to war in about 1941, when the Germans attacked the Soviets (I guess there was an earlier war against the Portuguese). Together we crushed the Axis. However, the game seems to have bugged out in the peace deal.

Northern France automatically went back to Free France which I guess is normal. The odd thing is that I this only happened a few days/weeks after the peace conference (it remained under my control in the meanwhile) and I ended up keeping the factories as if I still occupied the land. There were even resistance and compliance values in those cores "held" by Free France. The same happened to Belgium and the Dutch. It was solved when I reoccupied the land when I went to war against the Allies.

The same happened to Poland, except that the Soviets occupied it. When I went to war against the Allies the Poles were never called in and I couldn't fabricate on them, as the fabricate screen didn't show any states at all. I guess that the reason that the others (French, Dutch and Belgians) were called in was because they had non-European land too.

Also, during the Axis peace deal, I puppeted part of Vichy France. However, a while later they were absorbed by Free France, even though they were my puppet and at war against the Free French.
