Summary

Monument Foundation Increases in Cost on Failed Attempts to Build

Description

I play on Massive maps with regenerating infestations, and that is one possible culprit as the infestation armies love to disrupt whatever I'm building on the overworld.

What I'm seeing is that my foundation monument is going up in cost every time I try to build it. When I made my 1st attempt it was 500 wonderstone, but I kept failing to complete it as independents would come in an halt the construction. It also started as a 5 turn build with minimal production capacity.

I did finally built it, at the last attempt was an 11 turn build costing 1200 ish wonderstone. It was the only one I successfully built. I'm guessing either the passage of time makes the cost go up, or the failed attempts are being registered as being built somehow. I completed it around turn 75.

A second foundation (I only have one active) will now cost 1902 production and 1520 wonderstone - that may be WAD, but seems to track with what would have happened if I had failed (again) to build my first and attempted to build it again - which does seem pretty painful.

I'm not certain if costs started going up right away, as I had about 3 attempts to build it before I finally got it completed.

Steps to reproduce

Fail to build foundation monuments (in my case because independent armies kept disrupting construction). Not sure if the accelerating costs kick in right away or not.

Hello,

Thank you for confirming this bug, and just a quick follow up as I've discovered a related issue. If you direct your attention to where I'm building the second monument foundation (on a tile underground) you can see that I have 3 armies who are defending the area (above ground).

I was a bit surprised that the phoenix in a stack by itself was able to fly onto my forester and disrupt the construction of my monument foundation underground. I hadn't really been watching this closely before, but after my last experience have deployed armies to make sure the project gets completed. You can view this by ending the turn and keeping the camera focused on the area while at the same time keeping the city overlay up (showing the progress on construction for the foundation).

My guess is that because I am constructing the monument on an underway passage that the phoenix can disrupt it from above ground as well as below? Pretty tough to defend against if that is the case. It normally wouldn't be an issue, but with long construction times it becomes more of an issue.
