There's just so much stuff that hasn't been finished or is in a broken state.

Gestalts still cannot use Ringworlds.

Rogue Servitors have Sanctuary zones on ecumenopoli, with more than 3 building slots.

Ringworlds have less basic resource jobs than shattered ringworlds.

Only Wilderness empires have buildings that give +X alloys from metallurgists.

And that's just a few of them.
We're in 4.0.14! That's 14 patches! In what is supposed to be a finished update!
It's been almost a month now.

So many talented people and yet so much still to be done. It's a paradox.

But to be fair, it's working for me, playing swarm hive minds. Though I understand that's a limited subset of the game

It's working for me as well. And I do not play hiveminds generally. There are still some rough edges but the update has revived my enjoyment of the game.

The changes were ambitious, that's mostly to blame for the unorthodox cycle. More work will be done I am sure, the fact we are on 4.0.14 is a testament to their resolve to work on this until it's perfect.

They have fixed a lot of things, half not working is very hyperbolic. But having said that Thrall worlds and prison worlds are still broken, I hope they fix them soon.

Welcome my dear to the world of reckless management decisions. Yes some guys in the top think releasing hot trash that half working is good marketing campaign that wont damage their reputation and harm their sales.

Probably some director or manager above is thinking "its no way we are wrong here surly the players are"

There's a pretty easy workaround for this: build a district in one of the three district slots along the bottom. It'll build fine, but there'll be a UI bug where it's got too many building slots. After the end of the month, it'll change the (incorrect) City District at the top to the (correct) Nexus district and you should be good to go after that.

Your overall point is pretty legit, though.

That's just a design choice. Shattered Rings were given basic resources to make them functional as an Origin, but regular Rings were always to be a bit worse at sustaining themselves.
Ringworlds in 3.14 could get 100 farmers / technicians from districts, whereas Shattered Ringworlds could get 50

Ringworlds in 4.0.X can get 5000 farmers / technicians from districts, whereas Shattered Ringworlds can get 7500

I'm just playing other stuff.
Won't be buying the next big update package if there is one.
Sorry Paradox, love the game but seriously, what gives?
What's the point on buying all DLC of the year at once if the game's going to break for more than a month after each big update?
What are we looking foward to when the next dlc patches come online ?
Because It feels like you won't be delaying those for more development time either.
And you haven't even still done the optimization parts of the update.
Are we going to be betting on that stuff not breaking the game just as much as the pop redo did?

Sorry about the bitterness, I want to be a believer in the devs but past actions are undeniably the best predictor of future actions and this is not a good look for a bright future.

I am also annoyed by these shameful actions of Paradox. "Efficient managers" in top management - this is exactly about such figures.
I am disappointed and burned out. According to my feelings, the developers may need from six months to a year to bring the game to a state comparable to the relatively stable and balanced 3.14. Plus, we take into account that at this rate the next DLC will snowball and drag it all out even more.

There are two things left to hope for. Someday the game will finally be brought to a normal state. And also that in hell there is a special cauldron for "effective management".

Oh, didn't know that. Thanks!

The fix isn't that hard, either: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...chine-ringworlds-broken.1741881/post-30401409

4.0 was a glaringly unfinished product, probably taken out of the oven too early to meet sales quotas, you’d think corporate would have learned after 2.2

I am waiting until they properly fix this game until I come back to it. I really enjoy the changes, the rework is amazing, but it is too bugged and needs balance tweaking. Even with a historically massive post update patching effort as this one, PDX is still far away from fixing everything necessary with the 4.0 release. It would probably need another month of crunch time effort at the current tempo, though I am slightly afraid they might run out of juice and start postponing many necessary fixes until future releases.

First time?

The previous time they broke the game this badly it took over TWO YEARS before it was back to a functional state, and it required forming an entire new development team(the Custodians) JUST to fix the mess.

Unfortunately it seems most people on this forum weren't around for that, and cheered on the devs when the 4.0 changes were being laid out, while the minority of us who knew what was about to happen and tried to protest against it were drowned out.

N00bs want new features, old timers want fixes on existing ones instead and know that anything new will be unbalanced and broken before it is properly fixed up. This is true about all grand strategy games since ever.

However, Stellaris badly needed a rework of pops and jobs and a new system is a big improvement. PDX just needs to fix up all the mess that came along with the update. If it takes two years, then we can wait two years - that would not be a bad scenario, worse scenario would be if Stellaris got the EU4 treatment - but the fact that they released a season pass means that such discontinuation is not coming in immediate future.
