Generals!

Command have asked us to inform you of some minor fixes.

- Replaced some graphical content in the German version of the game.
- Removed game option to use silhouette portraits for German leadership and focuses.

We'll continue to monitor things and, please do keep sending in Bug Reports in the meantime!

Good to see, that Paradox chooses to tackle the real important stuff! It's not like, the Missile menu bugs out since release, or the game crashes, when the AI uses Missiles launched from submarines. Great stuff!

Is there a particular reason why the faces are censored again? Just asking. It seemed fine, when Götterdämmerung dropped.

I understand entirely, this is a hotfix that was pushed outside of our usual updates, which is also partly why it doesn't include other bug fixes, patches or updates. I'm confident that the next patch will be more substantial, and hopefully can address some of these issues that you're highlighting!

New shadow council dlc just dropped. Time to refund the DLC since half the art is missing.

On a more serious note. I support the replacement of the focus icons that needlessly portayed the characters in a good light.
But replacing the portaits without it being optional?
That just sucks and then people wonder why the kids cant identify the evil people when they share their next TikTok :p

Looks like some German content creators have gotten their way after all. Next stop rename Götterdämmerung, more communist content, Rosa Luxemburg is german leader. Everything was required.

You can't justify it with logic. :confused:

We are the Borg German. Logic is pointless. How can you play germany? Learn your history lesson! Would be the friendliest description. The laurel wreath topped it all off. Some have said they won't make content of this dlc, others have threatened to boycott.

That's what I don't understand.

How it originally was: Censored for German players. Technically, it's censored by default and there was a historical portraits DLC pack that had the actual portraits, and the DLC wasn't available in germany.

How it was post-GOT: Uncensored for all, apparently the German restrictions on showing Nazi leaders were relaxed if it's in a historical context, hence the uncensorship.

Later patch: Added a toggle for the shadow portraits for everyone so players who prefer the shadowed versions (even if they're not german) can choose what they prefer.

NOW: Removed the option, back to how it originally was. German versions censored, people outside of germany can't even toggle the shadowed portraits on anymore.

It's basically come full circle to how HOI4 was originally and I find it very confusing.

Well to be honest, this kinda sucks. At least give people the option to chose if they want to use original or censored files (payed the full price and now we get less than the rest).

Players from Germany are forced to use some black silhouttes for historical albeit evil characters.
A lot of icons from the "fuhrerprinzip" tree were changed into some generic uninspired graphics.

I know this topic is very sensitive but for me personally it is an immersion killer (again).

Is this because of German law? Or is this because of people complaining? Because if it's about people complaining, I have to ask where the Tannu Tuva focus tree we've been asking for years is!

Why isn't it optional? Did you just listen to a loud minority, in other words german content creators? I am german, I know german people, I talk to german people (who would have guessed). Nobody I talked to want it to be removed. Make it optional for those squeamish persons of the public.

The game shows Stalin, Mussolini and Japan leadership. I think you know what the Japan military did with chinese women. I don't want to compare the severity of actions of germans and other countries but why can I see their faces? Were they less bad? Do you consider their actions not as war crimes?

It's just a historical game with historical figures. Let me see their ugly faces.
