Man I've really been excited about AoW4 (as always) after dlc launch, and so has my sleeping schedule died :D

But yeah, ya know, dragon rulers didn't ever click for me fully, I mean I did like them, but like... I got the rationale for champions and wizards (ascended native realm dwellers vs god like wizards coming there from astral sea) but I never really understood "why dragons though" besides "its cool". Eldritch sovereigns finally made it click for me. All of the rulers are different types of demigods flavors. Reason why dlcs have added two monster rulers is for that kind of flavor, so there is chance we get more monster creature type rulers. I kinda had thought that "archon/demon/fay rulers are just wizards/champions with right transformations", but I realized dlcs adding eldritch horror and dragon rulers also added major transformations with same flavor :O

Would actually help to figure out whats deal with Archons if they are a ruler type in this game rather than a form :O I wouldn't be surprised if we get "demon lord" ruler type too or fey equivalent as well. (dunno if we'd ever get elemental ruler, but having construct ruler could be cool xD)

There's been obvious desire across a few different threads for a Giant Lord ruler, to serve as a thematic counterpart for the Dragon Lord.

I could see other types, though. Some form of "Archfey" would probably be my second pick, mostly as Giants and Fey are the two creature types that currently have the least player-side content to them. Primal Fury kinda-sorta flirted with the idea of fey, but only in a single tome.

Fey largely fits under eldritch sovereign.

Only in the same way that Celestials fit under Eldritch Sovereign, because you can make something that looks like a Biblically-correct angel.

Either way, we'd need a DLC that fleshes out more fey units for the player in order for that fantasy to be real.

Eldritch sovereign as playable lost wizards/eldritch horrors do have fey, undead, demonic and celestial resembling shapes, but I kinda read them as more "any kind of being could be twisted into eldritch sovereign" since they don't have those creature types. (note: can dragons be twisted into lost wizards?)

I'd personally love the below additions along the reworks similar to what we just received with eldritch stuff:

1) Demon Lord - with rework/subspecs of Chaos
2) Celestial Lord - with rework/subspecs of Order
3) Archfey - with rework/subspecs of Nature
4) Giant/Construct Lord - with rework/subspecs of Materium

I'm bit stumped on Shadow given that Eldritch boys really fitted sop not sure what can we release alongside update to Shadow subspecs!

Unless they do some kind of Lich/super undead lord, I guess there could be some sort of Ice Shadow Element thing based on the shadow realm purified from Umbral Abyss. But yeah I do feel like Eldritch Sovereign are mostly shadow affinity even if they are mixed affinity lords

I would like a ruler type that directly affects interaction with another ruler type.

For example, if they introduce a Giant ruler, giving it negative relations with all Dragon rulers.

I would like to see a Giant lord type, I think it would be nice to have the old "rivals" of the dragons.

I also think a more celestialesque ruler as contrast to the sovereign might also be interesting, something Archon related seems posdible to me.

Lich would also be nice but I doubt that we will get that especially since both eldritch rulers and wizard kings have undead heads already.

While highly unlikely I wonder if any form of mechanical ruler is possible and I think it could be interesting.
Now I don't want AoW4 to be steampunky but AoW3 had more mechanical stuff than AoW4 (even after Reaver update) and we still lack a Materium major transformation so I wonder if this was possible in another Materium expansion.
I don't expect or request it, I do find it interesting to ponder on though.

Giants would be nice.
Champions and Wizard Kings could also need a little overhaul. Because they are to basic in my humble opinion.
They are to similiar to normal Heroes, from the gameplay point of view.
+ They are even to similar to each other.
The only difference are the economy and one special ability. (Overchannel)
Just a little boring compared to Eldritch Sovereigns or even Dragon Lords.

Give them an extra Skilltree based on their class.

if they do more lords i hope they add some more human ones, dragon and eldritch are great and flashy but i hope for some more normal ones. unforntinatly the acended campion and wizard king covers almost all the bases.

Yeah there will be more lord types. I think we can expect at least 1, maybe 2 more. For now 3 of 4 can be considered different life stages of Godir (Merlin for example was champion, became wizard king and now is eldritch sovereign). There many possibilities - more monster lords, some kind of celestial sovereign, chaos demon lord, arch fey, overmind like lord that cannot leave throne city. I trust that AoW devs can pleasantly surprise us.

I'd like to see something done with the idea of Champions being the paragons of their race. Give them unique signature skills that, instead of being special battlefield abilities, will instead function like special minor racial transformations that only the Champion gets access to. Carry them over between maps, but have them function like a combination of Dragon Lord affinity picks and normal racial transformations - locked in as a pick, but active only on the Champion until they reach the right level to unlock them.

Nice idea. I would like this.
I also would give them a special class unit. That can be recruited in their top tier townhall. Like a "Champions Guard" or something so.

Wizard Kings need better magical combat abilities. For ranged and melee.
And maybe different versions of "Overchannel." You could choose them as signature.
One for "your next spell cost no casting points."
And something like "your next spell does 30% more damage."

This way they would be a little more different to normal heroes.

It's under Sorcerer specialization. Would have to be considered against that.
Of course you are right. I just forget that for a moment.

I would say that some passive minor transformations (signature skills) could be a nice addition.
+ Maybe a Tier 4 Class Unit for Wizard Kings and Champions.
Recruitable in the max level Townhall for Champions. And in the Wizard Tower for Wizard Kings.

Just a few extras to spice them up.
Because they have become a little bit boring to play.
The Eldritch Sovereigns are so awesome with all their abilities. I even love to play small battles with them. And almost never use autoresolve.

I'm pretty sure the devs will find a good way, to make WK's and Champions slightly more different from Heroes.
