To keep you going until release, we're going to play an old fashion text adventure! You'll be the player, we'll be the text! Options will be given to you at the end of the section, tell us in the thread which one you'd like to pick, and the most popular one will progress the adventure! Shall we begin?

"Dice Hard" a Knights of Pen & Paper +1 Edition community driven text adventure (DH-KoPP+1ECDTA for short)
Part 1


You are in a DARKENED ROOM. A musty smell of mold and a pervasive aura of suffering hang in the air, reminding you of a prison cell, or a long-forgotten temple. There is one exit to the WEST.

Before you, a trio of SHADOWY FIGURES sits in silence, their gazes upon you expectantly, waiting for a kernel of wisdom or a decisive act. The central figure has assembled the artifacts of tonight’s ritual before himself, with a MYSTERIOUS TOME to his right and a collection of POWERFUL TOTEMS on his left.

YOU CAST A LIGHT SPELL

With a sweep of your arm, you invoke the power to BATHE THE ROOM IN LIGHT, removing the obscuring SHADOWS from the area and revealing the FIGURES to your sight. They HOWL in annoyance, shielding their eyes. “Come on!” growls the central figure, shaking his head at you. “You’re spoiling the mood. We said we’d keep it dark when we went into a DUNGEON.” He has a point. You sheepishly sweep your arm the other way and knock the light switch back to ‘off.’

You return your attention to the RITUAL before you: the three POWERFUL TOTEMS have been arranged on a set of SIX-SIDED-SIGILS as to be surrounded by a series of RED BEADS. These beads each control a BLOODTHIRSTY GOBLIN, and they are currently threatening the TOTEMS; if the TOTEMS fall, so do you. Your life and the lives of your companions hang in the balance!
Impatiently, the central SHADOWY FIGURE motions for you to confront the situation, which appears grim.

I'm still worried about the grue.

With a confident grin, you reach into your pack and retrieve the STONE OF FORTUNE. The SHADOWY FIGURES are taken aback, their eyes wide with awe. This object of power is the stuff of legend, known well in these lands for the great boons it has bestowed upon you. They know full well that you only invoke its magic when you truly need it, and they hold their breath as you cast the stone down into the RITUAL’S CENTER, its gleaming blue surfaces seeming to sparkle with energy on all twenty of its PERFECTLY POLISHED SIDES.

The STONE OF FORTUNE ricochets against one of the sinister RED BEADS unexpectedly, diverting its path back out of the RITUAL, off of the ALTAR, across the FLOOR, and carries it underneath a FILTHY COUCH. The DARKENED ROOM is stunned into silence. Has the STONE OF FORTUNE forsaken you in this desperate hour? All at once, the SHADOWY FIGURES rise and hurry towards the COUCH, scrambling to retrieve the STONE, so that all may know its decree. The house rules state, after all, that the cast of a stone is law, regardless of where it may lay.

A DISTRACTION! Luck is with you after all; all of the SHADOWY FIGURES are busy quarreling and trying to get the ritual back on track. The TABLE is unguarded and you have a chance to tip the odds in your favor with a clever action…

While the SHADOWY FIGURES are distracted, you have an opportunity to claim the MYSTERIOUS TOME that the central figure uses to guide his dark RITUAL! This tome is an overwhelmingly powerful volume, containing the secrets of the universe. You possess one that is similar, which explains the workings of the world and how to survive its perils – but the legends say this particular tome contains much more: not just what can happen, but what WILL HAPPEN, as dictated by the hand of the shadowy figure himself!
Carefully, you remove the TOME from the TABLE. With the forbidden knowledge within, you can KNOW the PLANS FOR THE RITUAL before they happen, and know how to react! Perhaps there is a secret in here as to the GOBLINS’ WEAKNESS, or the LOCATION of their BEST TREASURE!

You realize the room has gone oddly QUIET and the sounds of QUARRELING have stopped. All three of the SHADOWY FIGURES are standing, and LOOKING directly at you. Their expressions range from annoyance to anger, and the reason is clear: you have been CAUGHT!
“What, exactly, do you think you’re doing?” snarls the central figure, his eyes glancing to your HANDS – frozen in the middle of ALTERING THE RITUAL. The room is ready to turn on you, and you will need to choose your words carefully…

COMMAND?
> THREATEN
> IMPRESS
> BLUFF
> WHINE
 
>Threaten to darken the room even further so the grue comes out, praying that it eats you last.

(alternatively, can I have a grue familiar? :D)
