Extra! Extra! In today’s news, we bring you new footage of the ongoing struggle on the South American continent. We will give you exclusive shots of the political and military development in Argentina, Brazil, and Chile.

It is yet unclear how the political landscape will evolve during this tumultuous time, though we have seen some prominent persons appearing in both the political and military landscape. Here are some of the most influential people we’ve identified:

Significant Figures from Chile

On the broader spectrum, our office analysts have looked into all the data we have collected and recognized a multitude of potential developments within the countries. No one can predict exactly how a country will develop in the future, but they’ve drawn a general image of some focuses that the nations might orient towards:

From our reporter on ground we have an exciting story on the military groups involved in the conflict in the South American region. Without further ado, we bring you this exciting interview.

marblemadness: So, Slurpen_Paradox, can you tell us more about what is happening behind the scenes?

Slurpen_Paradox: Yes! These are the most prominent armed forces that have been involved in the area.

ART_06.png

marblemadness: Jolly gee! Is that an armed civilian? These people look very dangerous. Are there any other forces involved in the region as well?

Slurpen_Paradox: I’m glad you asked! Other than the “armed civilian” there have also been groups driven by various political ideologies. Here are the ones I managed to capture on camera:

ART_07.png

Slurpen_Paradox: It’s not only ground troops that are fighting these battles. With the latest technological advancements we’ve seen in recent years all the primary countries involved in this conflict have acquired various planes, tanks, and armored vehicles to supplement their forces.

They seem to have a bunch of repainted ones as well as some that I haven't seen on the battlefield before!

marblemadness: All those vehicles looked dangerous. But hang on just a moment! This one does not look dangerous at all! Finally, some decent, upstanding…
ART_14.png

marblemadness: …oh. I see. It belongs to the Liga Patriótica Argentina. Is there any other footage you would like to share?

Slurpen_Paradox: Yes. During my time in the deepest parts of the Amazons I’ve brought with me some dramatic photographs from the battlefields.

marblemadness: Oh, that looks absolutely brutal! Thank you for bringing this exclusive look on what is happening on the South American continent.

As a final section in our newspaper, especially in these worrying times, we try to keep our chins up by ending on a positive note. Now it is time for our final section; a series of comic strips developed by our inhouse art team.

Slurpen_Paradox replies;Looks like Paraguay and Uruguay don't have unit models, how come they're not getting any despite getting a tree?Hello! The main focus for this DLC where on Brazil, Argentina, and Chile. That's why we prioritized bringing custom 3D art to those countries.

Yes, It is! :D
Can we see some art for Uruguay and Paraguay?
Absolutely! Here are some of the extra portraits we have featuring leaders from Paraguay (left) and Uruguay (right)
Par and Urg leaders.png

Did you fix Minervinios's portrait? Because in the image he is still white.
We've been working on adjusting the colors. This is how he looks like at the present moment.

Is any of the vehicle art for home-built South American tanks and planes, or is it all repainted imported stuff?
Brazil, Argentina, and Chile used a lot of vehicles that originated from other countries. However, there are some brand new planes (mostly belonging to Brazil), and Argentina also has its own DL 43 medium tank. Argentina also has the Vickers model 1934 light tank because it was the most fitting light tank for them historically.

D3vil (Jonathan) replies;

Will other Latin American countries receive some love? (one or two new characters with portraits)

Could you show the portraits of the indigenous leaders of South America?
As for other countries, a few for PAR, URG and BOL, for example:

Great work with the art, I lovet it, but I am somewhat disappointed with the achievements as I do not see that there is any achievement related to the military influence that Prussia had in Chile, I would have liked to see an achievement like the one Bulgaria has, something like Prussia of South America maybe.

Also I suggest you change the fascist flag of Chile for the Patria Vieja one since is the one they are more associated to and the version that you used is the one from the Vanguardia Popular Socialista that was created in 1939 after de MNSCh was restructurated. The exact number of stars are 64 representing the "heroes of chilean nazism" (59 of the deaths in the workers' insurance building and five of those who died in the streets in clashes), then it would be an anachrony use that flag in a period prior to the massacre of workers' insurance.

Sources: El Movimiento Nacional Socialista (1932-1938), 2000, Magdalena Moller Roth, Pontificia Universidad Católica (Facultad de Historia)

Maybe you can make the player choose either the Patria Vieja or the Red Flag with stars

If I can manage to find the time anywhere I will add the option to choose your flag for an upcoming patch :)

Could you name them please? I know top left are Carlos Ibañez and Gabriel Gonzalez Videla
Sure! :) On the top row, we have Carlos Ibañez, Gabriel Gonzalez Videla, Jorge Videla Cobo and Pedro Dartnell. On the bottom row, from left to right, Quintín Lame,
Juan Gómez Millas, Peter Hansen and René Schneider.

The operative in the bottom right, Rene Joyeuse, already exists as a French operative with a portrait from LaR. Will France no longer have access to this operative as he is being added as an American operative? As far as I know he did work for both the OSS and French intelligence. Nice operative portraits btw
Currently he is available for both to accommodate for this fact, but depending on sentiment things could perhaps change.

Can we get hansen, schneider and dartnell as generals too? : o
Yes, they can all appear as generals for Chile in game, though none of them are available to use at game start. :)

Marbledmadness replies;

This just came out from the news press! Bolivia will receive several new portraits (some featured here) and Rapa Nui has this charming hat-wearing fellow. We can also show off a bunch of the leader councils here too, as well as as some operatives that will be added to the La Resistance DLC.

My newspaper editor [D3vil (Jonathan)] thought it would be a good idea to post the other councils as well. Here are the last of them!

@marblemadness can show us new Brazilians, Argentines and Chileans spys?
For Argentina we have Hellmuth and Chile receives Rosita Serrano as operatives. Apart from them we have several connected to USA, Japan and Germany.

Arheo replies;
IIRC the devs said that they made the Paraguay and Uruguay trees in their personal dev time, so there was no budget at all for it.

I want to clear this up a bit: the initial idea was work done by someone as a personal project (which we allot work time for), but after they were approved for inclusion they received considerable development time on the project budget.

podcat replies;
The senor hilter one will be a pain too unless they changed up how it works. Speaking of which it's Hilter, not Hitler paradox.
Yeah we have tuned it a bit

Can we see a portrait of Señor Hitler? And how can you get Señor Hitler as leader of Argentina? If he is leader, is there specific focus tree for him?
You'll have to see when the tree drops, we intentionally hid it for the diary

I don't know where you got this photograph of Minervinos being black, because all the photographs you find of him when you search on Google show him as a white man as illustrated by paradox, even Wikipedia shows him as a white man. I believe you are creating an unnecessary discussion here on the forum due to your misunderstanding.
No, its correct, its just that a lot of those old photos were very washed out and hard to make out. We are working on updating it

As Uruguay, join a war and have the most war participation, while having at least 9 cavalry divisions

This Achivement has been removed, it was accidently included in the Developer Diary from an older list.

Apologies about the confusion.

We need the GLIB DLC:

G for Germany: An extended Focus Tree for Germany with Communist Way, because Germany is the only country in Europe that cannot be made Communist with the Focus Tree. Also, the attack on Europe in fascism should be made more historic, if the game wants to be as accurate as possible. The AI is attacking the Benelux countries first, instead of Scandinavia, which is ahistorical.

L for Luxembourg: A focus tree for Luxembourg, please.

I for Ireland: A focus tree for Ireland, please.

B Belgium: A focus tree for Belgium, please.

Additional requests: The one can join more than one faction and that it is easier to negotiate territories.

Great work, keep it up. Thanks.
Haha, Chilean coastal achievement is a safe bet. PHCP pun too. ;)

Will ToA countries have its own orders and medals? I want to restore the Brazilian Empire just to award my generals with Order of the Rose!
Will anything new be added to the 'Career Profile' in the menus with the release of ToA?

Oh yes, diary theme allows: could you edit the achievements from AAT by removing the dots from some of them and changing the lowercase to uppercase in the first letters of words? In order not to stand out from the general style. Not that it was sooooo important, but seeing it just unpleasant, like hitting your little toe on a corner. Hehe.

Also, will they even be getting art for advisors and leaders? I figured they'd get the warlord treatment but it doesn't seem like they're getting more than a focus.

If no, will we ever see an anniversary pack adding them in later on? The same for other Nations?

The BAD ENDING achievement is awesome xD

Also, any updates on those comments?
Another set of comments:

Dutra would only be promoted to Marshal in 1950. He would literally be elected President in 1945 before being promoted to Marshal.

Olympio Falconieri too. He was actually a major in 1936, being made 2 star general in 1943. He only achieved Field Marshal after retiring (see below) probably in the 1950s.

Lima Brayner was also a major in 1936, being promoted to 2 star general only after the war in 1947. He served in the Brazilian army in Italy as a colonel at the force's general staff. He was promoted to Marshal via a court ruling because of pension benefits (see below) in the late 1960s.

One thing that might be confusing Paradox's researchers: Brazilian military rules at the time had every four star general being promoted to Marshal AUTOMATICALLY when going into reserve (so they could receive a better pension). Therefore, most names that never served as Marshal are referred to in history books as Marshals because of that. In 1975, when this rule was abolished, Brazil had OVER SEVENTY Field Marshals. I remember reading that this is more than the entirety of NATO combined during the 20th century. The Soviets had only 41 Marshals in it's entire history. Obviously those ranks were not merited as actual promotions as none of them served in an active unit as Marshals. They only commanded their living rooms with five stars in their shoulders.

I should put a Colombia mentioned image for that achievement.

Also, very creative achievements! Especially Lamento Boliviano and the Paraguayan against the triple alliance.
