Greetings, survivors!


We just deployed a new patch for the Xbox version of Surviving the Aftermath, which contains most of the bug fixes we have in place for the other versions of the game. This update should bring your game to version 1.0.0.21 (Version notation is different between platforms).

General
  • Sawmill and Logging Camp will no longer be able to harvest the same tree twice. This caused colonists to get stuck.
  • Colonists that got stuck on older save games are now freed.
  • Specialists are now recreated if they were missing from the World Map when loading a broken save game.
  • Restricting characters in Autosave filenames prevents crashes when the Colony name contains special characters and the game Autosaves.
  • Fix for broken save games where all colonists are stuck.
  • Colonist traits will no longer be applied when loading a game.
    • This caused colonists to die when loading a saved game occasionally, and their trait reduced health to 0 or to get stuck when speed reached 0.
  • Solved an issue that occasionally caused all the tutorial steps being activated simultaneously after loading a Saved game.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a permanent FPS drop because of extremely long paths being elaborated by the Colonist pathfinder algorithm.
  • The main menu will no longer get stuck when saved games with corrupted metadata are present (thanks to kfugrip for reporting the issue!).
  • Fixed an issue that caused flashing graphics and caused menus not to be accessible in certain save games.
  • Disabled autosaving by default, we are looking for possible issues in autosaving.
  • Reverted changes to pathfinding, this should remove the majority of the colonist getting stuck issues.
  • Additional fixes where catastrophes get stuck and don’t end correctly.
  • The Building “Salvage” button text has been changed to “Demolish” for clarity.

Gameplay
  • Fallouts and Radiation sickness are less lethal.
  • Increased House storage capacity from 3 to 4 colonists.
  • Increased the Two-Story house capacity from 6 to 8 colonists.
  • Gate storage increased.
    • This should mitigate the critical issues reported with this feature, such as loss of goods scavenged by Specialists.
    • We are working on a proper fix for this feature that will be implemented in a future patch.
  • Increased amount of concrete by 50%.
  • Reduced the water consumption rate by 50%.
  • Metal can now be found in larger quantities in the World Map.
  • Tools’ durability increased by 33%.
  • Deposit Metal amount increased by 25%.
  • Pathfinder Statue cost reduced from 15 Concrete and 30 Metal to 10 Concrete and 15 Metal.

This patch has made the game unplayable for me. Before the patch I had a problem where I got stuck at the world map. I couldn't do anything except move around with the sticks. This was still the case after the patch. So I decided to start over. I build a few roads, place a house and now I cant use the A button. When I try using it, trees and other smaller things blink and nothing happens. Tried to reload but it's the same. Started over again. The same happens, as soon as I place a building the A button stop working and I cant play.
 
Can confirm after the new patch after day 2 the game still runs but i dont can use the controler anymore only gampad function is too get the game speed change all other stuff dont work

Could you let us know which Xbox you are using to play the game? Also: are either of you using autosave and if you are, what is the name of your colony?

I play on the x box one x and autosave was not on and colony name wwas new caldion one of the random names
 
Anyone having issues with the controller becoming unusable, the fix I have found has worked for me as strange as it sounds was removing my guitar hero dongle from the back of my Xbox!
My brother told me to try it and as he had to do the same on a different early access game he was playing
My game was crashing every 10 mins or so and it’s been fine for the last 2 hours since doing that

I had the same problem, by and chance do you have a guitar hero dongle in your Xbox, if so removing that worked perfectly for me :)
 
For some reason it works today. Yesterday i tried several times on new saves and got the same result. But today even if I do the exact same things, it work as it should. I had auto save off yesterday and today. So i have no idea why or how it happened but I'm happy as long as it works =P
 
After update I tried to load my save (Ashford -random generated name) and didn't see anything different about the gameplay changes, the Housing capacity, the water consumption, etc.

So I restarted my Xbox One and then my controller become unresponsive and the game freezes.

I uninstalled the game and deleted the saves on local and cloud and download it again to my external HD.

Started a new game and I don't know if the changes are running since the water consumption stay 1 unit per colonist... Need to play more to unlock the better houses and check it capacity.

I'm a bit upset about losing my progress, but is completely acceptable to a Game Preview.

Update: I realize that the autosave was enabled as default after I reinstalled the game, but I was not using it before.
 
Hello IceFlake Devs, first of all thanks a lot for your nice game. :)

I would like to report some issues which I experienced while playing.

XBUX One X, Version 1.0.0.21, no autosave enabled, colony names without any extra characters despite of spaces

1) Save games sometimes won’t load. A workaround which sometimes works is described here by General Karthos.
2) Saving the game while in the World Map does sometimes corrupt the save games.
3) After loading a save game sometimes all villagers are totally stuck and can’t move. Even in open areas and they walk-on-the-spot and can’t move at all.
4) I have also the problem that the A button sometimes doesn’t get recognized and it isn’t anymore possible to select buildings or villagers afterwards. The only buttons that then work are the speed buttons. Normally it works again after quitting the game and reloading. But I got save games where this workaround doesn’t work. This missing « A » button issue occurs randomly.
5) Specialists on the World Map: If I have more than 6 specialists, sometimes the seventh specialist doesn’t show up in the list. I can select it though while using RB/LB. But the specialist isn’t visible in the list on the left side.

Some suggestions about « quality of gaming improvements» while playing. I hope that others will find these suggestions useful too.

Button « Zoom to village center »
Please add a button mapping (probably clicking on the right stick) that it centers the view to the village center, which would be useful while we move around in the map and want to go back to the village center.

Buildings with work zones
Please add a button on the building selection pop up where we can directly jump to the work zone itself. Probably below «change workzone».

Notification messages for harvesting
Please add a message notification for the food production buildings (grow houses/insect farms) and fields when the harvest is ready to be harvested. As you probably know lots of players use a worker-field-building rotation. Which means, when the « grow time » begins on the fields or the buildings, we players move the villagers away for other tasks. And put them back when the harvest is ready to be harvested.

Specialists on the World Map
Please add a button where we can directly jump to the selected specialist.
Please add the possibility that we can queue moving tasks and add a direct order « go home ». That the specialist moves home over several turns without a needed player interaction.
