The lords of the Stormlands and the Reach gathered and fell upon King's Landing like a storm. On the 24th day of the Ninth Moon of the year 299 AC, King's Landing fell and King Stannis I took the Iron Throne.
Every member of the Kingsguard was stripped of their white cloaks, save Ser Jaime Lannister, who had already been forced to take the black by Robb Stark. Loras Tyrell, Robar Royce, Emmon Cuy, Guyard Morrigan, Parmen Crane, Brienne Tarth, and Jon Flowers were named as Stannis's new Kingsguard, with Loras as Lord Commander.
Joffrey "Waters", Cersei Lannister, and Lancel Lannister were all burned to death; Joffrey for usurping the Iron Throne, Cersei for adultery and treason, and Lancel for murder and regicide. Tywin Lannister had already died of an illness, and Tyrion had withdrawn the Lannister forces from supporting Joffrey.
The new Small Council was comprised of Prince Renly Baratheon as Hand, Ser Davos Seaworth as Master of Laws, Ser Axell Florent as Master of Coin, Lord Raynor Cressey as Master of Whisperers, Lord Monford Velaryon as Master of Ships, Pycelle as Grand Maester, and Ser Loras Tyrell as Lord Commander. Lady Melisandre of Asshai, Lord Mace Tyrell, and Queen Selyse Florent were also named to the not-so-Small Council.
An attempt by Renly to have Stannis fall from a balcony in the prelude to his coronation failed because Lord Tyrion Lannister refused to submit to the King's Justice and revolted, so the coronation was rushed and Renly had no time to sabotage a railing.
A man claiming to be Aegon Targaryen, the son of Rhaegar, invaded Dragonstone seeking to take the Iron Throne. Despite his preferring her brother Loras, Renly managed to conceive an heir with his wife Margaery. The child was born healthy and named Cassana after Renly's mother.
Soon after the birth, Tyrion was captured and burned by Stannis, who then turned his attention to Aegon.
Numerous murder attempts later, Renly finally convinced Melisandre that Stannis was not the true Azor Ahai, and it was she who did him in with poisoned wine.
Aegon was bested and beheaded. Renly declared that Princess Arianne of Dorne must be punished for siding with the pretender, and she revolted.
Renly's lover, Ser Loras, was killed in a trial by combat. Ser Parmen Crane replaced him as Lord Commander, while Ser Arys Oakheart was reinstated to the Kingsguard to fill the seventh place.
Princess Arianne was bested and had Dorne revoked and given to Lord Edric Dayne. At this time also, the Stormlands were officially given to Lady Shireen Baratheon.
With the wars done at last, Renly was able to hold an official coronation ceremony.
And now, it was time to reconquer the Iron Islands, which was attempting to subjugate the North...
