Bored of having to be a (mostly) secretive Satanic cultist? Well now you can announce your heretical beliefs to the world, and purge the non-believers (or be purged).

Current Features:
  • If you're High Priest of the Satanists you can officialise a state Satanist religion. A religious head will be spawned who can call Black Crusades
  • Once it's officialised, lesser priests in the society can convert for a prestige and power cost, as long as they're independent
  • Can take 20 concubines (arbitrary value, but it's still a huge amount compared to others)
  • You can loot non-Satanists just like unreformed pagans
  • All Abrahamic adherents will despise you (-15 opinion penalty)
  • Incestual marriages fully allowed, to hell with morality
  • A Satanic Empire that's formable after creating the religion, it will merge any landed secret Satanists and overt Satanists into your realm
  • Half a dozen mercenaries and holy orders
  • System for secretly converting provinces whilst playing as a religion besides Satanic (have to be part of Lucifer's Own)
  • Characters in your realm who are part of Lucifer's Own when you convert will also be converted
  • Province emancipation/slavery system, There are three possible states: neutral, enslaved, and liberated, affecting tax, levies and revolt risk of Satanic provinces.
  • A couple of minor flavour events (burning Catholics, and some trait related).
  • Conquest casus bellis with low truce cooldowns against fellow Satanists and other religions
  • Made Hermetics available to Satanists
  • Demon summoning event chain, depending on your sins you can summon a demon of your choice once converted to Satanism (and you meet the other requirements).
  • Necromancer, witch, minion, medium minor titles. The first two have associated traits, and prestigious necromancers can become liches, and eventually allow their liege to summon an army of the dead (all for religious Satanists).
  • Sins and virtues are now inverted in terms of how the Satanic church views them (ie, sins give piety, increases church opinion, vice versa)

http://www.mediafire.com/file/ce53afs29xah61t/satanismPlus2.8.2.zip - v2.8.2 - Removed all special Satanic sin/virtue traits and replaced them with triggered modifiers. The special traits were causing problems with vanilla events and decisions which required the normal traits as conditions for triggering

https://www.mediafire.com/file/c7kgiq69c9n3q7o/SatanismPlus30.zip/file - v3.0 - Updated to Holy Fury and fixed some minor bugs.

Good job, dude. If I think of anything to improve the mod, I would be more than happy to help out!

I've got a bunch of ideas jotted down already, both from my imagination and some suggestions on the Steam forum. As soon as I finish my current semester I'll start working on it without pause (hopefully). Either way it won't be too long.

I would suggest you look into a guy called LeVey (or LeFey) who basically turned it an organised thing.
From memory he did do a lot of writing and his works (from my understanding) provide the core of Satanism as it stands currently.
You may want to wipe your history afterwards to be on the safe side....

Personally I'd ignore LeVey, now I'm not a Satanist but I have learned some about them and LeVey did not really seem to believe in Satan as a real figure, more like a combination of an allegory and a word for subconscious nature of humans, nor does most people in the Church of Satan for that matter seem to believe in Satan. They chose the name to get people's attention but according to the Church of Satan website "Satan to us is a symbol of pride, liberty and individualism, and it serves as an external metaphorical projection of our highest personal potential. We do not believe in Satan as a being or person."

Now the Satanists in Monks and Mystics clearly worship Satan, want to look at modern day devil worshipers I'd look into the Temple of Set, they are a split off group from the Church of Satan upset because the church wasn't actually worshiping Satan... they call Satan Set instead because of their founder believing that Set was an older name for Satan, and also LeVey had copywrite over name the Church of Satan... so it was a money thing. The Temple of Set was founded by one Michael Aquino, and Mr. Aquino was a military intelligence officer specializing in psychological warfare.... so some people think that even the Temple of Set was just a pychological experiment by Aquino; though had a history professor that actual met Aquino.... apparently he seemed completely normal while in military uniform but seemed pretty dedicated and weird in his Temple of Set regalia.

Regardless, my point is that while LeVey's writings might provide interesting flavor to the mod I think it would be more interesting to draw on older influences than LeVey's attempt to pay his bills.

LeVey had copywrite over name the Church of Satan

For whatever reason, that's just hilarious to me. "What church do you go to?" "The Church of Satan™"

LaVey's Satanism is mostly an "enlightened" atheism. Source: me.

I agree with Alzhen. You should look towards 'real' satanists.

Great mod, by the way. I always feel that the devs don't give 100% anymore, making only the concept and releasing it... at least for CK2 anyway.

Should the Satanic religion have access to an open society that can do all the crazy cult stuff, except it's out in the open?

Well, instead you could have the actions and events be available to chars of satanic religion, using piety instead of Dark Power and Moral authority instead of society Influence.

I own a copy of the Satanic Bible that he wrote, not a big fan of it personally. Satanism in-game is already fictitious enough as it is, so I may as well go with that theme and create a more mystically evil experience. I'm a big fan of WH40k, so Satan/Lucifer may end up being more similar to Khorne or a mixture of the Chaos gods (or at least, they're what I picture when thinking about how to portray Satan's influence).

From the vanilla events, I get more of a Slaanesh vibe :p

I get the vibe of all of them except Nurgle. My goal is to remedy this by adding plague-summoning events to afflict the provinces of the uncorrupted, maybe some other things like making syphilis desirable for Satanists :D

Well, Nurgle is present, if only by name, in one of them ("the Plaguebringers")

I've been playing as the cold ones in vanilla and really wanted to make it into a religion. Any chance you could add these functionalities to the other 'satanist' type cults? They're not particularly different so hopefully it's not too much work.
