christmas-2.jpg

It may only be the season of the spooks however in name of production times I ask you all to close your eyes and feel the cold outside, the smells of the food and the jingle in your spirits of the coming holiday season! This year we're adding some brand new songs to our Carols, Candles and Candy free radio pack that we released last year and we want YOU to help us write it!

Obviously abiding by the rules of copyright and so on as to ensure a white christmas for our legal team as well, we call upon you to post your most cheerful Cities rhymes, songs and jingles to fit the season right here in this thread!

By submitting you agree that we may use your lyrics for one of the final songs in the Carols, Candles and Candy Radio pack, which while free is a commercial product that we use to promote the game!
Be part of the Cities: Skylines Holiday DNA!

So while the weather outside is yet to be frightful, we call upon you to as you always are, be ever so delightful!
We can't wait to see your entries! Merry Halloween or whatever! <3

We need your final entries by October 31st in order to have enough time to produce the songs so that marks the end of the competition!

I feel like this highlighted passage is tempting me to give your legal team a black Christmas but that would be mean, wouldn't it? :p

OK, a bit of fun and a reminder to Mariina (it's been almost eighteen months, now - wow, that went quick!)

Sung to the tune of "Deck the Halls With Boughs of Holly":

Bloody Penguin crushes cities
Tralalalala, lala lala!

He will squash your blocks to bitties
Tralala, tralala, tra la la!

He will flatten all your buildings
Then find some water and dive in!

Tralalalala, lala la laaa!

Why not an Unnatural Disasters DLC featuring monster attacks, alien invasions, or zombie attacks? This seems another DLC waste like the other radio stations, unlike other DLCs that has lots of new features.

Uhm, because there's a huge difference in the amount of work? You do realise this isn't a new DLC right? This is some more songs added to the DLC we got last year, which means most of the work is done by Paradox and not CO (the devs aren't taking breaks from working on features to record songs ;)). CO's devs will prob just have to add the finished songs to the DLC and push an update. That's not even slightly close to the amount of dev work that would be needed to make new disasters like that.

You don't have to worry that we would go to recording studio ;) Though I think some of the team members aren't as bad singers as I am... I'm looking forward to hear what kind of awesome lyrics you come up with!

Heres my disasters :

Merry Christmas children
Candies'n' gift onward
Happy faces and the cold winter
oh, long live that season

Merry Christmas to my mother
father, sisters and brothers
One fulfilled family forever
oh, that's main matter

Sweety Christmas my darling
You ever been so charming
Everyday is Christmas for me
oh, he's neverending... <3

Merry Christmas Grandma
Merry Christmas Grandpa
and to all the defunt bodies
oh, can't be forgotten

Merry Christmas soldiers
Fireworks and the skyliner
Bombs, destruction into battle :/
oh well, we have Mars ^^

Merry Christmas to developpers
from Haemimont to Colossal Order
and to Paradox publisher
oh merry christmas to gamers

Merry Christmas to the world
Merry Christmas to animals
Merry Christmas to all of you
Merry Christmas to me

....

I imagined the first more like hmm childish xmas one
The second sounded more folk/rock to me lol

Traffic jam, flooded stores in the whole enlighten city
Soon is Christmas, all the cims go nuts and really crazy
But can the Town Hall manage all the crowd security,
Health, parties and the whole common city things ?

Christmas time means one hell to you Mayor' cims
Did you plan some events here and there in the city ?
Do you have enough goods for commercials and housings ?
Christmas means challenge, for you and industries

Tell the government to bring you some more power
like tollbooth, more taxes ways and things even better
like one big view on that economy panel, money's power
Our community will always refuse magic powder

To the tune of Kings of the Orient:

We thirty thousand truckers are,
Bearing goods we travel afar,
Motorway and intersection,
Following yonder star.

O road of wonder, road with trees,
Road with many empty lanes,
Somewhere leading, still proceeding,
Guide us on one single lane.

etc

But really, while I don't mind more songs for the Christmas theme this December, I would personally like to see some visual assets such as decorations and such. While I am aware that modders have made numerous assets for the Christmas theme and I think Colossal Order even released a DLC with such themed building assets, I'm not sure, I nevertheless would like to see some or more Christmas themed assets from the Colossal Order. I want to see their artistic interpretation of the Christmas theme just as modders have done. Having seen their work, I know they can make great light-hearted Christmas artwork.

Alternatively, I suggest a contest for submissions by modders for an inclusion in a Christmas themed DLC. Cheers!

LOL !

Thank you, Paradox & CO for tollbooths and everything ! :D

Has the Carols, Candles and Candy DLC been pulled from the DLC list, I still have it in my libray, is it beening updated?

These normally appear mixed in with the other stations. I haven't checked in a few days, but I first noticed them around the start of December.

Definitely heard "Jolly Old St Nicholas" and "I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day".

That said, I have no idea what has been added this year. (Will add to the Wiki if someone can tell me (or they can add it)).

Just had another look and this what my library and in game have.
I have heard a few Xmas songs mixed in on the other stations

Listen to "Cities Skylines Radio" (top one, pointing to in screenshot) for awhile. Sooner or later you should hear one of the Christmas songs.

By "mixed in", I mean that the carols do not have their own "station" and appear mixed in the playlist for the other stations (some?/all?).

wasn't it its own station when it came out
