World War II without Stalin's Officer Purges :blink:

Stalin was Stalinist.

Yes that sounds stupid, but my point is Stalin is not Stalin without being totalitarian.

Without the purges the army could oppose him.

Thus lack of purges makes the USSR weaker, not stronger, as Stalin would have wasted resources keeping the army in check.
 
Now instead of the purges changing the war, what if Trotsky had of been in charge instead of Stalin?

Anyone except Stalin would have lost the war.

I content that if not for Stalin and his Stalinist Genocide, Hitler would have won WW2.

And frankly, I believe that's part of the reason Stalin was there. Call it divine intervention if you will. A great evil was placed to stop an even greater evil.
