This is probably a pointless suggestion or proposal, but i think the routes of troop/ship movement need some serious reworking... There are countless instances when armies or fleets will do crazy curves or double backs... Why should an army have to go through the CENTER of every province it travels through? you cant just cut through edges of places... the navies are the worst about the double back thing, makes absolutely no sense. a ship should always take the absolute straightest route, period. so many instances of super wide turns around peninsulas and stuff, things that add weeks to travel times of armies. Does anyone else feel like the movement routes are a little ridiculous sometimes?

I don't feel the game would be improved by changing the routes system. It's not perfect, but it does the job and causes no balance issue.

And how would you rework the core mechanic that is battle ? If armies could be anywhere in the provinces, what determines wether they fight or not ? That would be a mess.

Tell that to the currents, tides and winds. Take a boat in the straightest route possible and let me know how that works for you

People are in control of your army or fleet. If they decide to take a certain route, you simply don't know why they've done that. Use your imagination and roleplay for all I care. Maybe we just have to assume that your characters are already trying to take the shortest route, but have a good reason as to why they don't walk in a straight line to their goal...
