When playing as a female ruler, I only ever get the "Want to have a daughter" ambition, never the "Want to have a son" ambition. What gives?

Are you using the beta patch? This was fixed in 2.1.5.2

A glitch they fixed, but lineally speaking, the mother's line passes through her daughters, while her husband's line passes through her sons.

Well no the mother's line would pass through her sons if she marries matrilenealy, Most mother's of rulers in history have hoped for sons because a son inheriting the throne is more likely to be safe and uncontested than a daughter. So really mothers should be able to hope for a son.
