Because armies start off with half health as they land I'm completely unable to stop a rebellion on the island of Venezia, the capital of Venice as you probably know. Any suggestions?

Excellent commanders and overwhelming force.

Bring like 3-4 times the rebels' numbers and use good commanders. There isn't much more you can do than take a brute force approach.

If you have a holding there (one you own personally) you can raise your levy at full morale. It probably won't be enough, but helped by men brought by boat, it could do the trick.

Thanks for all the help, guys. In the end I had to let him take the island, but it was a short lived victory. The bastard only had 326 men so I was able to storm the island...but upon moving the capital to the glorious city of Venezia, I lost the republic and got a kingdom..at least it was only 894 :), NORSE VENICE SHALL RISE AGAIN!
