How does the Pope keep exchanging 300 gold for 300 prestige?

I thought it was weird that when I looked at the Pope, he had -2700 prestige. So I watched his character sheet for a while, and I saw two times that his cash shot up by 300 while his prestige went down by 300. Now he's at -3300 prestige.

Is there some sort of decision where I can exchange 300 gold for 300 prestige? Or is this a Pope only thing?

I do have Sons of Abraham. And I know that you can borrow money from the Jews or Holy Orders, but it doesn't cause you to lose 300 prestige. Also, you can't do it more than once unless you pay it back.

Is there some sort of way to wipe the debt clean with 300 prestige? Like losing 300 prestige for defaulting on your debt?
