Okay, firstly I'd BETTER get some responses because after doing this research I'll probably never sleep again and I would like that to be worth something at least
I've been working on my mod for AST for some time now (check signature) and have come up with a long list of non-generic names for units (i.e. to replace 1st Royal Mar. Div.) etc. I was wondering what other people would like as names and if you think these are adequate? I'm thinking of expanding this to include many other countries that get less attention, so if you know of a real unit that hasn't been named properly within your country or would like a unit named after some deadly or poisonous animal, please let me know. I'd be more than happy to hear some suggestions and would like to know what you think of the names below and my reasoning behind them.
I've named as many real units as possible otherwise I made up unit names using poisonous and deadly animals for the sake of having semi-real (and really cool) names. These are a mix of REAL and fictitious names I came up with for units. Again, ideas please.
The list is as follows,
The Paratroops are as follows, all of them are real divisions accept for 'Drop Bears' but if you're interested look it up on the internet and you'll get the joke lol.
171st 'Aviation Regiment'
'1st LRRP 'Lurp' Div. 2nd LRRP 'Lurp' Div. 3rd LRRP 'Lurp' Div. 'M Division' 'Z Division' 1st 'Drop Bears Div. 'Special Ops Executive'
'LRRP' is Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol usually made up of 4-6 man teams and go deep into enemy territory and were used in Vietnam but for game's sake I think they'd been fine as used here.
http://www.mythocreatology.com/dropbear.html ahahahaaaa There is some partial truth in the 'drop bear' being used as a secret weapon. But the whole point of it was use for disinformation and scare would-be invaders especially the Japanese during WW II. "Articles" of drop bear attacks was left where the Japs would find them to create fears and rumours. I don't think I will but other such creatures include Yowie, Bunyip, and 'Tasmanian Tigers' (the last Tasmanian Tiger died in captivity in 1938.) Although many have claimed to see this creature, not just in Tasmania but on Australia's mainland as well.
Anyhow,
