So i've finally done it. I broke down and bought HoD just a few moments ago and I've decided i want to play a game as my good ole favorite.. texas. Now texas was the first country i played in House Divided and i'm well aware of how this will play out... but I'm looking forward to making use of some new features of HoD and use some old Vicky2 features that i haven't been able to have happen reliably in past playthroughs. So instead of acting like a blind man with a flashlight i figured i'd make a thread to ask the people how they'd personally try to accomplish a few simple goals in no certain order.

Goal 1: Win the Texas war of independence With at least one state and mexican texas coming out in the peace deal.
This one i know how to do mostly, but always open to new suggestions​


Goal 2: Unify American south west
I'm hoping to use the crisis system heavily to accomplish this but as i of yet have no experience any insights would be welcome​


Goal 3: Change government to Fascist or Proletariat dictatorship
Never have quite accomplished this without a sudden and inevitable betrayal by my american neighbors and have only ever had a socialist revolt happen.. Suggestions on this will receive the most appreciation.​


Goal 4: Recreate the first or second world war with Texas filling the role of Primary Aggressor
This one i honestly have no idea how to do but i really want to have the Zimmerman Telegraph being Mexico's plea for help.. instead of Germany's attempt to involve them in the war​


The only real thing i know for sure that would have to happen is that to accomplish all of these i would have to push to be a great power
 
The crisis system only allows you to create a crisis in an area where you have a core. Texas has no cores outside of Texas, so you'll get no crisis unless you fail to get the rest of Mexican Texas. If you don't get that in the war you can use the system to try and get it through a crisis. Bear in mind the USA will be the ONLY GP who will be able to intervene in any way, as they are the only GP in the area. There is a chance the UK will be able to participate actually.
Best bet is to hope that you can maybe get to secondary ASAP after the war so maybe you have a slim chance at colonising one region.
After this well...conquest somewhere. Mexico if you're lucky. If you can manage it, Korea. Seriously.

I dunno really Texas is a tough one. I did well in AHD once and owned about 1/4 the continental US, the whole south-west. Got it through managing to colonise the one region above me and then Mexican conquest. Basically the plan above.
 
I will say it's not as easy as i remember. While the rebalance on the guard makes your offensive game stronger it also seems as though you can't convince the AI to stand still no matter what you do. This was crucial to my Texas game and without that my back is officially broken. less ambitious goal one may be in order... Also no matter how much i flatter the US they never seem to get involved, so far a 0% success rate from 3 games. even if i havent added wargoals.. is this WAD?

Edit: finaly got the usa in but it doesn't matter as they don't move troops over at all... The hell?

Revision: Ok the success rate of getting america has raised to 50%... still wow is there no way to win this war anymore?

I have never seen the USA join the Texan war and then NOT help, that is odd.

would love to.. but it doesn't seem like texas can even win without intervention. It's a shame too because before HoD you could at least come out of that war with two complete states and an army capable of taking on haiti. Now the only way i've been able to win is through american intervention and with my army being totally crushed in the first conflict with Santa Anna, In San Antonio, With Sam Huston, while having a dig in bonus and a river crossing to my favor.. Trying to explore the possibility of getting an alliance with the USCA, but i can't keep hold of the territory long enough... Havent given up yet though.. Game 20 might be my lucky number

Edit: side note I just realized that in the real texas revolution that Santa Anna only had 6,500 troops under his command for the duration..
 
Yeah the Mexicans were NEVER really able to field much of an army. Take a look into the Mexican-American war, otherwise known as the War of American Aggression, seeing as it was largely unprovoked and they annexed large swaths of territory.
 
Not really sure if that was merely Intended as a jab at Americans but I certainly can't deny the facts that the US was ruled by yellow journalism and spin doctors in the 1800s. Mexcan war was started when a US force was attacked on Mexican soil when they shouldn't of been there anyway.. and a senator made a crafty lie about American blood being spilled on american soil which isn't a False statments since Mexico is on the American Continent. Convenient isn't it.. This is why i hate the media
