Hey there fellow Paradoxians! As a long time forum lurker, I figured it was high time to start contributing to the awesome AAR community. I've always been fascinated by Mega-Campaigns, and it was actually through watching one that I came to love Paradox games and began playing them myself. I believe there's great potential for story telling in a Mega-Campaign. It's incredibly compelling to watch the fates of countries unfold over a thousand years, and inevitably become somewhat emotionally invested in their journey. For those reasons, I knew would have to give one of my own a shot!

In this video series, I'll be playing as a Russian and Slavic dynasty: Dostoyevsky of Kiev (thanks to the ruler designer). My goals will be to convert to Orthodoxy, create the Kingdom of Rus, possibly create the Empire of Russia, and (hopefully) survive the impending Mongol destruction.

I hope you enjoy watching!

Part 1:

In this episode we create our ruler, get married, and set up our council while discussing our goals.

Part 7:

The Ruthenian holdings are finally unified under Kievan rule, and the wealthy lands of Novgorod beckon.

@Van5 - Yeah, I mean I know that the video format doesn't lend itself to commentary as well as a normal AAR, or at least it hasn't in my experience in the forums, but I definitely welcome it!

Hey, great AAR men.

just wanted to point out: when you tried to educate the Norse-child ruler, the reason he disagreed was because the RULER (not the guardian) hated you, you could just have spent 20 gold as "give gift" and that would have solved the problem.

Part 8:

The war for Rus begins! And Hungary loses 90% of their 30,000 stack to walking through my land! Laughter ensues.

@gis - Thanks man, I'm glad you're enjoying it. And yeah I definitely should have thought of that, I'm still thinking that I should just grant him independence and immediately conquest him. Even if it breaks a truce it's only -5 opinion with everyone instead of the -20 from revoking a title.

Part 9:

Upon discovering that one can grant independence to wrong culture/religion vassals, and then immediately conquest them, King Vladimir the Careless begins the great heathen purge.

@Van5 - Yeah I think that'll be fun, it'll allow me to create some decent rivals too for when EU4 hits.

Part 11:

King Vladimir the Careless dies of stress at age 53. Long live the King! The succession goes relatively smoothly, except that with the short reign penalties our vassal levies get cut in half. As a result our ally Hungary takes the prestige hit and declares war! Also, we take a look around the world.
