Post-Nuke Project - A Total Conversion for Darkest Hour

New World Order Pictures - Part 1

Current build: Pre-Alpha 0.0250

In 1987, a devastating 6 hour nuclear war put an end to World War 3 and plunged the world in chaos and anarchy. Now, 150 years after the Fall of Humanity, struggling nations and communities have risen from the ashes of The Old World. Besieged by both old and new enemies, it is up to you, Commander, to lead your nation to victory. As the threat of a fourth World War looms on the horizon, only one question remains: Who will Rise?

The Post-Nuke Project is a collaborative Darkest Hour Total Conversion set in a dystopian future. A German victory in WW2 led to a nuclear three-way WW3 that forever changed the world as we know it. We aim to create an ahistorical new future scenario where the player shapes the world, or is crushed by it. Planned features include future technologies, modern land and naval combat, and a graphical rework. This mod aims to bring back the glory days of alternate history games, and draws inspirations from classics such as Red Alert, Command And Conquer, Fallout and Wasteland. Our pre-alpha build is ready to play, and everyone is invited to help develop the mod! This is an Open Source-Project and thus, all work files will be shared so everyone who wants to contribute can work on the Project.
Implemented Features:

- Intriguing new world order with many unique nations.
- Rich alternate timeline.
- Over seven Russia's.
- More than 150 new flags.
- New New England.

Planned future features:

- A strong focus on gameplay and fun over realism.
- Completely reworked technologies and units.
- Updated combat mechanics for land, air and naval conflicts.
- Immersive universe building through interactive storytelling.
- Breathtakingly realistic 2D sprites.
- Meaningful player choices that let you play the game YOUR way.
- Reactive AI guarantees an exciting playthrough from start to finish.
- Strong interwoven event chains make every game different from the last.
- Every country is theoretically able to take over the world.

Very Interesting. Do you have an overarching story to follow or is it you make your own story?

Looks interesting, but for me it crashes before loading the main menu (Windows 7, DH 1.3, Language set to English). Are there any settings that have to be changed to make it work?

We created our own universe story, large parts of it can be gathered from the country description already available.
But this story is not written in stone, the community can freely participate with suggestion and new ideas. :)

Darn, that is a major problem, can you send me any error log, save-debug or error messages? or did the game just shut down?
We did out testing on multiple platforms and never has an issue like that, are you sure your DH is unmodified? Or is it DH on Steam?

Looks like a very interesting mod! But one request, please, make more neutral background story, without good or bad sides (for example Soviet Union is an evil empire, but United States of America is a country of angels).

Laurence wrote the US and USSR fluff, and I would be very surprised if his US backstory was not full of sarcasm and insinuation . A lot of the universe is still left to flesh out, so if you guys want to join the team and work on the universe, everyone is welcome.

That's what savedebug.txt says:
Code:
Parsing division_types.txt... ERROR : (	ERROR : unknown string in unit type.) 'ui_prio = 5' Line = 489 file = Mods\PNP\db\units\division_types.txt
After outcommenting that line, the next error is
Code:
escort_carrier ('db\units\divisions\escort_carrier.txt'): (max brigades set to 3)	ERROR : (Unexpected field in equipment!) 'floatplane = 12' Line = 34 file = Mods\PNP\db\units\divisions\escort_carrier.txt
and then
Code:
floatplane ('db\units\brigades\floatplane.txt'):	ERROR : (Unexpected field in equipment!) 'floatplane = 4' Line = 26 file = Mods\PNP\db\units\brigades\floatplane.txt
After replacing "floatplane" with "fighter", the game loads - but then freezes when loading the 2136 scenario.

Very strange, nobody else is reporting this issue and your error log is mentioning files we haven't even edited yet. Are you sure you are installing on a DH 1.3 official patch build (not the beta patch)? I'd try a reinstall, sounds like some files were wrongly overwritten

I had no stability issues myself,
But it seems the event to make Poland declare war on the Polish Free Territories is not firing.

No event right now, you're supposed to DOW them yourself :p

watch out for guys using the Steam version which AFAIK is still DH 1.03 RC2... which is indicated by the type of errors shown in the previous post?

Yup, reinstalling the 1.3 Patch did the trick. Thanks!
BTW, your tc_icons.bmp seems to have the wrong size. Yours is 1536x24, while the original is 2616x24. This leads to the icons being cut up in a strange way on my computer. It probably has something to do with whether the graphics drivers (or DirectX) interpret texture coordinates in a relative or absolute way, so it may happen on some systems but not on others. But the safe way would be to keep the standard size. The same problem occurs with auxiliary.bmp and auxiliarybig.bmp
In all cases, it is easily solved by copying the file from DH Full over it.

Could you provide a screenshot of the error? Vincent noted that there might be some problems with icons when we patched the mod for 1.3, he should be able to say more on this.
