I have seen a movement of people wanting to have cabinets and ministers added to the game and it got me thinking.

What if there was a spin off game in which you chose a politician within a country and you had to guide them through the various events in the V2 timeframe?

So you may start of as a conservative, become First Minister/President and then as events happen like a swing to the socialists you need to perhaps reshuffle your cabinet to install a socialist to maintain supply. Or your family moves from an agriculture/aristocratic background to a factory owner/capitalist.

So if the event for a lock out occurs it may actually happen to your factory cutting off your own income.

The events and time frame would be the same, but instead of looking 5 to 10 to 20 years in the future, you would be forced to look at the short term as the ruling party trying to maintain power.

So not within Vicky 2, but like a companion game to it.

really good idea i was actually thinking of something similar but where you controller a single party where you had to put effort into actually staying in power or making a revolution but i like your idea better!
Also i was thinking more and more about a zombie game using victoria 2 mechanics since paradox made the April fools joke about the Undead crusader kings 2 expansion(I really hope its true i mean they have made April fools jokes into real things before) i think that would work really good something like the panadamic flash games or Plug inc!

Honestly, I like Alexander's idea better. Vicky2 politics were very impersonal, odd exceptions here and there aside *cough*Bismarck*cough*.

Guiding a political party/movement would be extremely fun!

Isn't the cold impersonal, methodical nature of politics in VicII essentially the Victorian era in a nutshell?

This would certainly add an interesting personal angle to contrast with the scale of Victoria 2. However, dynamics within countries would have to be significantly expanded upon, so you would have something to do when not in power.

In CKII you have the benefit of being able to exert influence in the world, even if three feudal lords reign above you. With republics, where you don't necessarily own a fief, you still have your estate to fall back on and operate out of.

In any case, I do agree with this:

I actually converted a Russia game up to Victoria 2. I know that's not what you're talking about but it was pretty cool having most of the world uncolonized. However if they introduced a mode like you're talking about they'd need at least 2-3 more expansions. It's a lot of work to add every political leader or contender over 100 years of world political history. It could be done though if we Victoria 2 people speak loudly about it! :D

Reminds me of Republic the Revolution.
God I wish it had a patch, good game, very fun.
Though it crashed occassionally and it couldn't load savegames, so you could never continue and always had to start anew.

HoI has ministers and leaders too, some also are commanders.

Great idea but take it farther and require leaders for everything. and supporting pops. Give them decision making abilities and goals. And bank accounts.

But it wouldn't be good to focus on a particular leader, they should be transitory and drawn from either historical sources or a leader generator.

A leader driven game would be fantastic.

Been waiting for modders to do this. There are enough tools available in the game to make zombie pops work with some clever scripting :)

Chap, you can't release aztec invasion DLC and not expect us to ask for a vicky 2 zombie game!

You must be realistic here. :p
