Hi everyone,

****DISCLAIMER****
I read the forum rules and did not find anything against linking youtube videos of AoD AARs (if that is not considered leeching, which I don't think so).
In case it is not allowed then please let me know and delete this thread.
****DISCLAIMER****

So I started my first AAR, I play AoD vanilla of the latest patch (SUBR checksum) as Germany in the 1936 GC.

The first video starts in 1937 (I skipped the tedious initial setup but explain it in the video). I attempt to explain the basic game mechanics so that even people who are new to the game can get into it relatively fast, without having to go through the quite steep lurning curve (at least compared to mainstream games). While this might be redundant for experienced players, I'll try to focus in upcoming episodes more on the game strategy as well as the historical background and related thoughts on my part (so this might me somewhat more than a plain gameplay commentary, I also speak about related topics (historical and other) which come to my mind).

Here I'll post the youtube video link of the episodes that have been released. You can comment (constructively) here as well as on youtube, I'll be reading both of it!

I hope you enjoy and I apologize for the (occasional) bird sounds in the background, I have a rather large cockatiel family at home!:)

Episodes:

Pre-war preparations (NOTE: the first few videos were recorded with improper FRAPS configuration, so resolution is lower than I expected, sorry for that, I'll use proper settings for the rest of the videos):

Episode 1 (until 20th December, 1937) - The Beginning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XY9wzPUtCy8
Episode 2 (20th December, 1937 - 25th March, 1938) - Anschluss: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdjbHW7ehuo
Episode 3 (25th March, 1938 - 24th August, 1938) - The Czech Tension: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TffxwAG2kmY
Episode 4 (24th August, 1938 - 3rd March, 1939) - Treaty of Münich: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0p00Sx65RE
Episode 5 (3rd March, 1939 - 30th August, 1939) - Last Months of Peace: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAfPVF41k3I

War-time (NOTE: from now on episodes are in REAL HD (high resolution):

Episode 6 (30th August, 1939 - 17th October, 1939) - Fall Weiss & Operation Weserübung: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqBQJ3si_FI

Nice to see that someone is doing a video AAR of AoD (latest version). This makes it easier for new players to get into the game :)

Keep up the good work :D

Have been following all the episodes so far. You missed out on a couple free transports you'd have gotten from the Altmark event if you wanted until March/April 40 to attack Denmark and Norway. Another thing i noticed is that you rebased a lot of your air force into provinces with few air bases. You can have a total of 10 air bases per province and if you place 12 squadrons into a province with only 4 airfields they'll regain organization at a much slower rate.

Can't wait to see how you fare against the Soviets. Maybe once you're done you can do an AAR with either the SMEP or Third Reich Mod. Keep up the good work.

Hey,
thanks for your support!:)

Actually I remembered somewhat later that there was the Altmark incident, but it was already late!:)

As for the airfield limit, I could have upgraded some of my western-most airfields, but I don't plan to keep so many aircraft based there for long.

Yeah, I'm thinking about a harder AAR after this (don't know the details though)!

Edit:
I'm still quite busy so to release the next episode might take some time...
