As of December 3 2012 readers who want to write material for this AAR may do so. Since this does cross the bounds into the realm of 'interactive AARs' I cleared it with loki100. I do not want this to be all that common, but provided you respect the material already posted and there is no contradiction between your write-ups and either the game or what I have written then I welcome anyone who is willing to contribute. There will be some quality control, so PM me what you want to write before hand and clear the topic with me first.

-----

This is a brief AAR, as I'm already a hundred years into the game and will probably end the game very soon as recent tedium has spoiled the fun.

But before I do that, this game was very interesting. Characters and Houses that we knew very well have developed and changed with the course of the game in a fun sort of madness that is only possible with a Paradox Game running its course. At the moment I just plan on telling the major events and what has happened with the major houses. If I continue this I will go in depth and make it much more of a story than an After-Action-Report. If anyone wants to look into a specific character I'll see if I can find them. I did "cheat" once, this cheating wasn't even with my character but with Daenerys. I modified her fertility rate and made her a little bit younger so that the Targaryen House might stand a fighting chance of keeping the throne. I changed it back later on when she would be in her 80s, but she still managed to survive to reach as old as Maester Aemon. I may have done other minor touches, but otherwise it was just me sitting back and watching the game play on with my own meddling being primarily in the Riverlands and Westerlands with spare royal marriages. There were some glitches, which caused some weirdness... I'll cover the ones I noticed later on, but who knows if there were others.

Westeros

Current Status of the Seven Kingdoms:

TheSevenKingdoms.png

The Iron Throne

Its current occupant is Edric Selmy, but he is far from the first person who sat on the throne since the start of the War of Five Kings. Joffrey Baratheon held onto his throne for less than two years before his uncle Stannis reviled and deposed him as the illegitimate child of incest between Jamie and Cersei Lannister. Joffrey managed to escape with his head, but in the hasty retreat from Kings Landing his younger brother Tommen was killed. Joffrey himself did not live much longer, dying at the age of 16 where he languished as a refugee and beggar. Stannis restored the Kings Peace to the realm with his turn on the Iron Throne, establishing a dynasty that would last for thirty-five years. Robb Stark bent his knee to Stannis after learning of his father's true loyalties before his death. Tyrell quickly followed, while House Lannister would be nearly destroyed.

Stannis had one more child, Alaric Baratheon, who would succeed him when he was still a child of ten. His rule would only go on long enough for him to have a few children, all of which died young and childless. Steffon was a newborn who ruled under the influence of others before he reached his tenth year, while his sister would die at the age of 17 during childbirth. This time was chaotic, with the arrival of the Aegon and Daenerys. Aegon's claim would be beaten and he would die childless. Daenerys, however, would not be so toothless. She, with her Dragons, seized the Iron throne for herself and would then march beyond the wall to face the horrors that lived there. Her rein would be long and prosperous, making peace with the Stormlands and the Iron Islands, allowing both to maintain Kingly titles in exchange for a long lasting peace. However, this peace would only last for Daenerys' reign, which was a long and blessed one. The Queen of the Stormlands, Leonette I, was the daughter of Shireen Baratheon, Granddaughter of Stannis Baratheon. Though a Westbrook by legal name, her claim on the Iron Throne was powerful. With Daenerys gone, a war was made almost instantly to depose the twenty year old Rhaegar and before the year was out the the Stormlands would rule over mainland Westeros.

Leonette never claimed the Iron Throne for herself, styling herself the Queen of the Stormlands until her death. It would be her son Edric that would defeat the Greyjoys and subjugate the Iron Islands, and with it justify his claim as the rightful King of Westeros. Though his name is of the ever honorable house of Selmy, he is the eldest of Stannis Baratheon's Great Grandsons and from there stakes his claim. However, Edric is in his sixties while his eldest living son has yet to reach adulthood. There is a realm fear that the realm will be thrust into chaos once more upon his death.

The North

With Robb Stark bowing to the Iron Throne one might expect that the North would become quiet and peaceful, but this was not the case. Robb Stark, with a Frey wife, would find himself torn between the riverlands and the north. His attentions divided, he never knew that someone wanted him dead. Who is anyone's guess, but Robb Stark would find himself very dead at the age of 22. His brief time had granted him four children, but all of them were girls. This set into motion a series of wars that would make the the clash of five kings seem tame in comparison. The seat of Winterfell passed to Serra, a young girl. The bannermen of the riverlands rose in rebellion, and with the virtual extinction of the house of Tully there were divided loyalties. Serra would lose most of the riverlands in the strife. Lady Sansa would then usurp leadership of the north for herself, being older and having the backing of House Ryswell that she married into after returning north with the reign of Stannis.

Sansa, however, would be a somewhat uninspiring leader. Her claim was weaker than Serra, and weaker still to her brother Rickon. Nevertheless the Barrowlands, the Neck, and the Rills would all rally to her leadership. The Umbers, Boltons, Karstarks, and Manderlies had their own ideas of leadership, while Serra remained in Riverrun and her sisters in Winterfell. War quickly broke out between the various factions and soon most, if not all, of the lords had staked their claim at being the effective ruler of the north. The very title of Lord Paramount of the North would disappear, possibly even destroyed, for thirteen years. By then Sansa was dead and the Wall had fallen to Mance Rayder. In the chaos that surrounded the situation, someone claiming to be the child of Arya Stark appeared on the scene. The House of Grovefort never existed before Grance arrived in the north with some measure of support from the House of Baratheon. He even practiced worshiped the Red God and looked more a stormlander than any other, yet he still managed to rise to truly become the ruler of the North and given the title of Lord Paramount by the Iron Throne.

Most rejected Grance's claims and as the years went on the bannermen of the Starks gradually pooled around Serra, the daughter of Robb Stark and proven granddaughter of Eddard. Serra would at the age of five and forty manage to pressure Grance into ceding the title back to the Starks and away from this Grovefort House and their Red God. Her line, unlike Sansa's would remain Starks. However, just as she secured the Stark place she died. Her son would take her place as Lord Paramount, but he was young and and in Riverrun. Control over the north would soon fall into the hands of Serra's younger sister, Leona. Leona was married twice. First to the Marbrands and later to the Westerlings. While Leona would fall out of favor and Grance would once again become the Lord Paramount, both dynasties that she gave birth to would come into power in the north after Grance's death.

Grance came into the title of Lord Paramount of the North for the third time. His reign would deal with the last of the challenges of what lies beyond the wall. The wall had succumbed to wildlings, and later threatened to be overrun by the Others. Even with nothing to defend it, the Wall itself protected the realm for decades before they began to spill over into the north. Only the Rayders, descended from Mance, were able to keep them at bay. Daenerys Targaryen and her Dragons came north when the full extent of the horrors became known. The Others were killed where they were found, the Wall was restored the best that could be done. The Dragons had a natural hatred towards the Others, and actively sought them out. They still reside on the wall, each in a ruin. Only Drogon returned south with Daenerys.

With Grance's demise his eldest son would come into the title of Lord Paramount. He would reign uneventfully until his death, while his son would be less fortunate. He reigned for years before finding himself on the losing side of another war. His attempt to take out the Barrowlands by force in order to defeat the independent line of 'lesser Starks' that still ruled over the Neck and almost the entirety of the west of the North. More importantly, they still maintained their claim on the title of Lord Paramount. The war between the two of them would only serve to draw the attentions of the Westerlings, which would then march north with the support of other Bannermen to take advantage of the situation. Steffon rose to power, claiming the entirety of the North and would actually unite it, finally putting an end to the worst of the fighting. However, his reign would be short and his death would end Westerling control. His half-brother from the Marbrand took over, but his opposition to deposition of the Targeryans would make his reign very short and end with him sentenced to the Wall. With this action the Grovefort Dynasty found itself back in control under Leonette, named after the Stormland Queen. She would also be married to a Greenfield, a descendent from Sansa Stark and their children will unite the two clans.

The South

The most prominent house to survive the Clash of Kings would be the House Arryn. No doubt this was largely due to the influence of Petyr Baelish, who fled Kings Landing with Stannis's coronation. Where other houses were broken entirely or shifted dynastic titles, the house of Arryn flourished. With its ties to the Tullys of Riverrun and the collapse of the Starks, they moved into the void and claimed the title of Lord Paramount of the Trident. Their expansion into the Trident bannermen was slow and methodical, and started with a campaign against the Freys. The house of Frey had become a den of murdering and scheming with as many Kinslayers as not all vying over Walder's corpse. Robert the Stammerer, under guiding direction, placed a more amiable celibate in charge of the crossing who only has daughters. The Freys were not happy over losing the Crossing, but once all the clever ones were rounded up and killed or sent to the wall there were few that could challenge them. However, the Freys were numerous and had free reign after the fall of the Starks, the Bay of Claws remains firmly Frey and their Lords are spread across the realm. In addition, Robert was wed to Janei Lannister and for a time it seemed like the three kingdom seats would fall into the hands of the Arryns, but Janei was forced out of her seat by her cousin. The Arryns still hold fragments of the Westerlands from her territories, but remain barred from Casterly Rock and Lannisport. They support Serra's line for control of the North, but they currently swear fealty to the Vale and were strong supporters of the Baratheons under Stannis and later the Targeryns.

Ser Kevan the II of the Vale, perhaps the most talented ruler the Vale has had, is the current Lord Paramount and has a long list of titles: Lord Paramount of the Vale of Arryn and the Trident, High Lord of the Giants Lance, Lord of the Eyre and the Blood Gate, Castellan of the Iron Throne, Warden of the East, and Hand of the King. Great Grandson of Yandry the Great, the last Prince of Dorne; Great Grandson of Janei Lannister, daughter of Kevin Lannister; Great great grandson of Lysa Tully; Daughter of Hoster Tully of the Trident; and the betrothed of Rhaeys Targeryan, granddaughter of Daenerys Targarian, Mother of Dragons.

The Westerlands were perhaps less fortunate. They have been in a near state of continual rebellion and their monarchs had a very short life expectancy until Daenerys came to the throne. The Lannisters are of a house that is nearly extinct, the only ones that have survived maintaining their name are those descended from Kevin Lannister's second son. Its current head is Ser Peter Lannister, Castellan of Greenmont. There are only five Lannisters left. The Lannisters had been replaced by the house of Jast, which had no rightful claim on the Lord Paramount Seat other than their not being of the House Martell or Arryn. The Lannisters briefly reclaimed the title of Lord Paramount of the Westerlings twice: First with Janei Lannister, which would have unified the Vale and Trident with the Westerlandss, and Second with Myrcella Lannister, who had married into the house of Martell and would unite Dorne and the Westerlandss. There's no clear reason for the sudden rise of the house of Jast, nor why they continually managed to reclaim the throne from the Lannisters other than their stranglehold over Casterly Rock and Lannisport, both of which were seized when Tyrion the Imp was deposed. The House of Jast also very narrowly took control over the Reach, doing so in actuality once or twice but not in a union. Myrcella's control over the Westerlands would unite it with Dorne so that when the house of Jast took control of the Westerlands, Dorne fell to them as well.

Ser Lorimer of the house of Jast also has an extensive list of titles: Lord Paramount of the Westerlands, Warden of the West and East, High Lordship of the Broken Arm, High Lordship of Casterly Rock, and Lord of Casterly Rock. The Great Grandson of Willas the Broken.

The Reach has rarely mobilized for action unless the war had already been decided ever since their defeat by Stannis Baratheon. The House of Tyrell ruled the until its male line died out, where it shifted to the Tyrells of Dalston which sprung from Petrola Tyrell after the House of Jast brieftly took control of the Reach. Apart from a minor role with the seven kingdoms, they have done very little. The rest of the realm, however, has not. Dorne is no more. The House Martel moved to its greatest height with Myrcella and her grandchild even earned the title of 'Great'. However, when the Jast seized the Westerlands Dorne fell with it, the heavily rebellious Dornish nobles refused any member from Jast to claim the title of Prince of Dorne. A Martel held the title in exile in the Stormlands, but after the House of Selmy rose to the Iron Throne and the last prince of Dorne died the organization was abolished. The Stormlands shared a similar fate, with it not surviving the transition to the Iron Throne. Many Stormland nobles remain independent from the Iron Throne because of this; though no open rebellion has ever occurred. The most notable of these are of Tarth and the Dornish Marches. The Iron Islands, which had survived prosperously under the Greyjoys in peace with Westeros was, was invaded by the new Dynasty and suffered decimation. A nephew of Edric Selmy is currently Lord Paramount of the Islands, though his rule is only respected on three of the islands.

House Targaryen

The House Targaryen is divided into two main branches with only one being truly recognized as Targaryen.*

The Lesser Branch supposedly hails from Rhaegar's son Aegon. Not the Aegon that would attempt to claim the throne from the Baratheons, but a different Aegon which would be known in life only as Imry Wylde, High Lord of Rainwood. At the time he claimed to be (or was) the son of Casper II Wylde and reclaimed the seat from a lesser House under the reign of Stannis Baratheon. Imry Wylde had three children, of which two would claim to be Targaryens after Imry's death, citing that they were the grandchildren of Rhaegar Targaryen. The other would deny it, keeping the Wylde name. The descendents of the Casper and Myrcella who claimed to be Targaryen would find themselves sharing similar problems. Some would keep the name Targaryen while others would return to the Wylde name. The current High Lord of Rainwood claims to be nothing more than a Wylde. Most of the realm would dismiss this claim even if those that perpetuated it truly believed it as much as they merely wished for the prestige that came with it. When Daenerys Targaryen came to power this 'imposter branch' of the House Targaryen was summoned to Kings Landing. Two people had claimed to be Aegon Targaryen. While the Aegon that attempted to conquer Westeros may not have been a true Targaryen, his hair and eyes were unmistakably part of the blood of Valyria and showed a striking resemblance by those who encountered him first hand. His death before Daenerys had robbed him of the chance of being legitimized. The other Targaryens, however, lacked all of the features of the Targaryens. Their hair was brown and blond with few exceptions, their eyes were green, blue, and brown lacking the Purple eyes which had been part of the Targaryen family since people took note to describe them. On this ground they would have been soundly rejected and their use of the Targaryen name wrong. However a curious thing happened: Rhaegon took a liking to one of the Targaryen children. Rheagon was a massive Green Dragon that had already littered the field of battle with the corpses of enemies and was known to attack anyone other than Daenerys and later on her children, and the most violent of her Dragons. The suggestion given to this was a "drop of Dragon's blood", which did not mean at all that the Wylde's were Targaryen. Stannis Baratheon and his descendants may have had even more Dragon's blood in them than House Wylde, but it was enough to give some credence to the claim and they were allowed to continue using the house name, though only in conjunction with Wylde.

There are fifteen living members of the Targaryen-Wylde Branch, and the branch is beginning the divide based on Myrcella having married into House Grandison, which has had similar disillusionment with the use of Targaryen in their name, especially since the Targaryens have lost the Iron Throne. Leona Targaryen-Wylde's three children are actually true Targaryen, being born from Prince Aerion.

The Main branch of House Targaryen has a legitimacy that cannot be doubted, hailing lineage from Daenerys Stormborn and Queen of Westeros. However, it is also a house that is the target of shadowy arts that result in the deaths of the line. Daenerys had six children but four of them died less than two decades after Daenerys's own death, two of which were childless. Her son Rhaegar kept the Valyrian Tradition of wedding one of his sisters, but he died shortly after losing the Iron Throne as well as his wife, of his two young daughters one was killed and the other was brought to Vale and betrothed to Kevin Arryn in order to keep her safe. Daenerys's oldest daughter was given her name and has married into the Grovefort House, but she only has one son. Prince Aerion has three children, yet all of them are girls and he is a count too close to the Iron Throne to be safe. Of the main branch of the House Targaryen there is only single man and young girls left, and should someone decide to use them as a claim for playing the Game of Thrones then it is likely that the main line will go extinct in short order. However, there are five living Targaryens. Four of which may continue the mainline while maintaining the name of the house. Prince Aerion may yet still father another son even if all of the girls lose the dynasty. Since he is the current head of the family, any sons from him would be of unquestioned value in terms of claims on the Iron Throne.

*This is the glitch that I was referring to, Aegon Targaryen was replaced my Imry Targaryen after Daenerys came to the throne. Since the Aegon that is included in the events called by the Dynastic name of Essos and has no relatives I cannot find him to show a comparison. Now, it is possible that there was something of an event for this, but I have no idea. Instead of changing the game to represent Imry as a Wylde, I'm going to keep them since they add some amount of flavor to the scenario.

**Targaryens are marked in Red and their children are all recorded. Wyldes are marked in Blue and their children are not recorded. Other Dynasties will not be colored and their children will not be recorded. Living characters are italicized.

House Baratheon

The House Baratheon was rumored to be founded by the illegitimate brother of Aegon the Conqueror who took the sigil and seat of the former Kings of the Stormlands. Since then the House Baratheon was known to have a number of marriages with the Targaryens. The Grandmother of Stannis, Renly, and Robert was Rhaell Targaryen. It is with this claim that Robert Baratheon actually laid his claim to the Iron Throne after hunting down Targaryen he could find, though the irony was most likely lost on him. The House Baratheon still survives though it has lost most of its direct power and its various descendants have used their relationship to the Baratheons in order to lay claim to greater offices and power. Notably the Westerbrook and later Selmy Houses descended from Shireen Baratheon, daughter of Stannis, each laid claim to the name of 'King' and derived it from the Baratheons they were descended from. However, a handful of Baratheons remain. Six living individuals go by the name of Baratheon, all of which are descended from Clifford Baratheon, half-brother to Queen Leonette of the Stormlands. His descendants, unlike his sisters, cling to worshipping the Lord of Light. After Daenerys Targaryen took the Iron Throne from the Baratheons after the death of Brienne the Baratheons under Stannis [Great-Grandson of Stannis the King] took control of a Dornish territory known as Hellholt where the Baratheon seat of power shifted to until only recently. His eldest daughter inherited the throne, a sweet girl called affectionally as the 'harmless stag'. Sweet, however, does not rule a territory and she was murdered a year later leading to her son to inherit the lordship. His name is not Baratheon, but rather the now more prominent House of Dalt.

House Stark

The House of Stark was originally a prominent house that united the entirety of the north behind them. Eddard Stark was blessed with five trueborn sons and one natural son, but of these only two would have lines that would continue to this day. Jon Snow lived on the wall until the age of 31 before he was murdered, by who is anyone's guess. This fate would mirror the rest of the Stark Children: Rickon Stark, the youngest son, would father two daughters before taking the Black in place of Jon Snow. Just as there must always be a Stark in Winterfell, there has always been a Stark on the Wall. His fate mirrored Jon Snows, being killed off with a flimsy excuse about an accident being made. Rickon's daughters would both die young, his eldest died at the age of 19 during child birth while the youngest died in the dungeons of Serra Stark after the Bolton's attempted to use her to claim the north. Bran Stark would be executed at the orders of Roose Bolton, which only served to propel an already dangerously volitile situation into a disaster. Arya Stark went missing ever since Eddard Stark was executed. While it cannot be proven, someone claiming to be Arya Stark would be found in the court of Tyrion Lannister. She died a "natural death" just as word was sent north of her return. Grance Grovefort would claim Arya was his mother, but the legitimacy of this is in doubt. And so three of the six children have no living descendants, only those descended from Robb Stark and Sansa Stark (with a claimant from Arya Stark), and their competition for the North along with most of the other lords would lead to a bloody era that would last nearly a century. And in this time two branches became many, with different sorts attempting to support their own candidate for the North. The Westerlands, the Vale and Trident, and the Iron Throne had at separate times supported their own candidates for the north, and the remnants of this can still be seen by taking note of who the lords of the north swear fealty to. However, recent years have seen many of the branches marrying into one another which may lead to peace.

What do all of these things mean?
It describes the current status of the game I'm playing. At the moment I'm covering the great houses of Westeros, and since I've covered the big three leaving behind only Arryn (and maybe Jast) I'm pretty close to doing a general update to fill in on the rest of the notable houses. I'll probably never do as extensive a lineage as I did for the Starks again. After I finish that I'm not really sure what I'll be doing next. I may add a story to it if I continue the game since something pretty interesting just happened. If not, then its basically done.

If you're just asking how the order his arranged its pretty simple: Every '-' represents a child in the next generation. For instance Sansa and Robb Stark have no '-'s next to their names, but their children do. Their grandchildren are ordered to follow directly under the their parents and have '--' right before their names, and it goes on like that. If this formatting is too confusing I'll change it.

I don't know what the Iron Throne is, what mod or map this is, nor your... well, there is no introduction or any sort of setup description. I'm not trying to be rude (I'm sure you've put a lot of effort into this) but as a sort of 'vanilla' player I have absolutely no idea what any of this means or to what it refers.

There is some, basically everything I've written so far is an introduction to the current scenario. It just assumes you are familiar with the source material and with a Clash of Kings, which can be confusing to a Vanilla player.

The mod is A Game of Thrones, modeled after a Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin and the Game of Thrones television series on HBO. The scenario I chose was A Clash of Kings, modeled after the Book and the second season of the series. The title "Eagles of the Vale" are character references to the dynasty of Arryn and the lands they rule.

I hope this is helpful to you. :)

Its a mod set in the Song Of Fire And Ice universe by GRRM Martin. The very popular HBO series "Game Of Thrones" is adapted from those books.

House Arryn

The House of Arryn had, 100 years ago, been reduced to a single living member. The frail, dimwitted, and somewhat insane, Robert Arryn. Known later on as Robert the Stammerer. Robert, however, would in his lifetime live to be an old man and father nine children. Five of whom would have children of their own, most prominently Robert's oldest son Kevin who would succeed Robert as Lord Paramount of the Vale and Trident and father ten children, seven of which would have children. Now the house of Arryn counts a hundred members, over forty of whom are of the living. The dynasty has since spread into a number of other houses. While other houses were broken or thinned themselves out into oblivion or were torn into competing branches, the House of Arryn has managed to remain united with few exceptions. The most notable would be under the reign of Morton II, who wouldn't reign very long at all before he was murdered by a vast network of retainers the full extent of which is unknown. With rebellion from without and within only his death kept the Vale together, and lead to his younger brother's ascension to the seat of Lord Paramount. Ser Kevin II of the Vale and Trident was only just bordering on the edge of being a teenager when the seat passed to him, but he stands as one of the more successful leaders the Vale has every had, rapidly attaining high positions in Kings Landing and weaving a web of alliances that may become useful in the future. Most of the prominent houses in the seven kingdoms have found themselves with a member or two in the courts of the Vale and Trident, disenfranchised Martells and Lannisters, in particular, have found themselves Eyrie. His own sister was wed to a Lannister though he has little more than minor claims on lands in the Westerlands. A competing Stark line for the North has found support from the Trident and Vale and holds the title of High lord of Riverrun. A half brother to Kevin is Edric Selmy's last living son and heir, while Kevin himself is to be wed to the daughter of the eldest son of Daenerys Targaryen. Even the House of Jast has been known to marry into the House of Arryn, only the Tyrells of Dalston have found no place in the Vale and this may change with time.

Houses Large, Small, and Forgotten
Houses In the North

The Realm has had a number of Houses which had been in place for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Often they would rule a single plot of land and rarely move in this time. Only a period of immense change could cause this to shift, and the Clash of Kings most definitely was the most significant conflict since the time of Robert Baratheon's rebellion or the Blackfyre Rebellions. The Maesters at the Citadel have a debate as to how long the Clash of Kings era endured. Some say it ended with Stannis Baratheon coming to the Iron Throne and Robb Stark bending his knee to the Iron Throne, others mark the return of Daenerys Targaryen, and others mark the fall of the Iron Islands to the House of Selmy. There's not a clear picture as to when it ended, but what is clear is the sheer mass of death and devastation that nearly a century of conflict has caused for Westeros. As made abundantly clear with the Baratheons and the Starks, Houses no longer dwelled in their ancestral lands but grow and spread where they can, whither when they can't, and die when all lands are taken.

House Karstark

The House of Karstark is descended from the Starks of Karhold, and were one of the most prominent houses to take part in the Northern Wars. Frequently at odds with the Umbers, Boltons, and Manderlies, the Karstarks were no strangers to warfare. However, they have become a house divided. After Harrion Karstark took the black one High Lordship was taken from the Karstarks. The other two were in the hands of his son, Heward II. However, recent years and some unfortunate circumstances have resulted in his sister Bethany usurping the title of High Lord of Karhold. While the two are not at war with one another, the Karstarks have now been divided. When Bethany dies Karhold will go to the House of Ashford. To make matters worse, Heward has only a single living daughter married into the house of flint and no sons to carry on his line. It may only be a matter of time before the Karstarks lose their influence and power.

House Bolton

The House of Bolton was one of the first houses to strike away from the Starks in Winterfell after the death of Robb Stark. Roose Bolton ordered the death of Bran Stark, ending his line permanently. Rumor has it that the House of Bolton, in particular Ramsay, may have been responsible for the deaths of a great many Starks and their claimants. For all their scheming Roose Bolton never expanded their holdings beyond Dreadfort, while Ramsay would briefly take White Harbor only to lose it to the Karstarks later on. Ramsay Snow, however, would be the death of the prominence of the Boltons. Not only would he most of his children be daughters, his crimes were so beyond counting that Daenerys Targaryen refused to pardon him. He would die in the dungeons at Kings Landing and his line would decay. Quent Bolton would become a Lord, but his line would die out. Ramsays daughters mostly died young but a few managed to marry into the Starks, the Umbers, and most notably the House of Flint, which would rise to take control of Deadfort after it was taken from the Boltons. Other Boltons continued to live on, but their numbers grew fewer. Now only two living Boltons remain and none of them will give rise to another Bolton. No one mourns for the House of Bolton, however. It is doomed, and with good reason.

House Manderly

The House of Manderly was perhaps one of the richest houses in the north, but they were also the quickest house to be uprooted from their seat. White Harbor was too important of a port and a lordship to be left untouched. After they lost White Harbor, the Manderlies were still a powerful house. A large number of them scattered to different courts while the rest centered around Wyman Manderly and his line remained the Lords of Hornwood and and the Dawn Forest, which still rules there. However, the Manderlys almost always died young, and eventually only daughters remained. Mirroring the Boltons, the House of Manderly has since merged with the Houses of Flint, Greenfield, Umber, and Mooseton. While five Manderlys exist spread across the north, they are all women who are either married into other houses or too old to bare any more children.

5 Living Members, 295 Prestige

House Umber

In stark contrast to the other houses of the north mentioned that seem doomed to irrelevance and oblivion, the House Umber has only grew in strength and power. When the Wildlings took the Wall the Umbers faced off against them and were amongst the few houses to resist them well. Their campaigns were constant against the Karstarks and the Boltons, reviling both as schemers and traitors. The Umbers were largely loyal to the Starks descended from Robb Stark, but after the Groveforts rose to prominence they moved to back them. They were one of the more prominent houses of the Northern Wars, and unlike many others in the East, they had maintained a healthy name for themselves. They continue to rule their ancestral lands of Last Hearth, and in addition to this they have married into many of the other great houses of the north, though only those in the Houses of Flint, Stark, and Karstark still carry a living line.

House Mormont

While other houses are in the process of dying off, the House Mormont is already dead and gone. At the Start of a Clash of Kings only two male Mormonts were amongst the living. This wasn't a sign of favor for the House, especially since one was an exile and the other had taken the black. However, there remained a large number of female Mormonts which had the potential of claiming the Mormont name and continuing the House. The She-Bears of Bear Island, however, were not up to the task. All of them married into other houses and their children failed to carry on the name of Mormont. The houses they did marry into were mostly just as blessed as the House of Mormont was. They married into the House of Poole, Hightree, and Mollen, all of which are dead houses that may not have even outlasted the House of Mormont. Only their descendants through the House of Flint and Liddle survive. The House of Liddle currently claims Lordship over Bear Island.

House Ryswell

All of those descended from the house of Ryswell can claim to be the descendants of Eddard Stark and his Daughter Sansa. The House of Ryswell had been one of the most major contenders for the seat of Winterfell for much of its existence, and at one time claimed control over the entirety of the West of the North. They were the High Lords of the Barrowlands, the Rills, and the Neck. Their reach was undeniable, and their armies strong and firm. Their height, however, was in the past. Now they are a house that has declined somewhat. They still control the Rills and claim High Lordship over the Neck, but they have lost the Barrowlands and the war for the seat in Winterfell. They married into the House of Norrey and Greenfield, of which Norrey is all but dead and Greenfield has already secured its line will succeed Lady Paramount Leonette Grovefort. Their numbers, too, are on the decline as well. In spite of this, it would be foolish to say that they are a truly diminished house. They still control vast amounts of land in the North and command respect from their peers.

7 Living Members, 435 Prestige

House Greenfield

Just as all living members of Ryswell can claim to be descended from Eddard and Sansa, so too can the house of Greenfield. Both houses have a proud and noble background in the North stretching back into the misty tales of time, but most of that has been forgotten in place of their heritage from the Starks. Part of this comes from the fact that all the living Starks come from women, and so no one can truly claim that their descendant houses are not just as much a Stark as the Starks. In particular, this claim hails from the daughter of Sansa Stark, a Ryswell. All Greenfields can claim to be descended from the House of Ryswell, but this is less noted. Greenfield has married into a number of different houses: Yew, Terreck, Farwell, Marbrand, and others. Of which, only those descended from the house of Marbrand have surviving lines. While the house has now made its home in the North, it actually hails from the Greenfields of the Westerlands, a fact not really forgotten. However, the House of Greenfield has married the head of the House of Grovefort, joining the two lines under the House of Greenfield. In the competition between many of the houses vying for Winterfell, Greensfield will become the only one to do so without a war or a usurpation.

10 Living Members, 266 Prestige

House Marbrand

Like Houses Ryswell and Greenfield, the entirety of the living members of House Marbrand can claim to be descended from Eddard Stark. Like the House of Greenfield, the House Marbrand hails from the Westerlands as opposed to the North. Unlike both of them, the House Marbrand makes its claim to the North through Leona Stark first and foremost, daughter of Robb Stark, rather than Sansa. Since the living members are descended from the House of Greenfield, they make the lesser claim to be descended from Sansa. Of the various houses mentioned their claim to the seat of Winterfell was the strongest, and they actually succeeded in attaining it, if only briefly. The family claims three High Lordship seats, matching the House Ryswell at its height, though it has since been divided into two branches. The first rules over Ashemark, the ancestral seat of the House Marbrand. The other claims the High Lordships of Winterfell and Hornwood. The Groveforts may be seated in Winterfell, as all lord Paramounts should, but Marbrand is the Lord of Winterfell. A distinction the Marbrands never fail to raise. Another minor branch holds the title of Lord of the Turnbridge, the title Leona Stark carried with her marriage into the house of Marbrand. The house of Marbrand has married into a great many houses, in particular the Houses of Jast, Oakheart, Rowan, Umber, Flint, and Clegane. Their position in the world has been steady, and seems only to rise in the future.

28 Living Members, 350 Prestige

House Flint

Without a doubt one of the most wildly successful Houses of the North, the House of Flint has been one of careful maneuvering and shrewd diplomatic alliances. They can claim heritage through the Starks in a number of ways, but unlike previous claimants the House of Flint is too broad with too many branches for dynasty to claim hold over all the flints. When the Northern Wars came, the Flints were mostly bystanders. They occasionally supported the Ryswell Claimants, but otherwise made no real move in the military fields. Their moves were more tactful. This tactic paid off beyond all hopes and expectations. Karlon Flint is the High Lord of Oldstones and Kayce. Hugo Flint is the High Lord of Dreadfoot. Jeyne Flint is the High Lady of Flint's Finger. Egber Flint is the Lord of Dawn Forest. Duncan Flint is the Lord of Flint's Cliff. They have married into the houses of Overton, Stout, Umber, of Winterfell, Umber, Stark, and Moss, each giving children.

89 Living Members, 587 Prestige

House Stark

The division of this house caused the Northern Wars, and it has since splintered into many arms and branches. Ryswell, Greenfield, Marbrand, and others all claim to hail from this house and assert the claims that come with it. There are those that still claim the name of Stark, though others claim only its heritage. These are all descended from Robb Stark, primarily from Serra Stark. Their only High Lordship is Riverrun, but they lack not for courage nor determination in pursuing their claims on the north. They are the Lords of Acorn Grove, and from here assert their claim over Winterfell. True to Stark Tradition, a Stark has always manned the Wall, most prominently of the Serra Starks would be Jeor the Laughing Wolf, former lord of Riverrun. They had previously had held the High Lordship of Winterfell, but this claim was lost to the Marbrands. They also were beaten in a great many wars in the North and are now primarily sustained by their close ties to their cousins in the Eyrie and Trident, the Arryns.

23 Living Members, 2280 Prestige

House Reed

The Reeds were a prominent house and the High Lords of the Neck. Occassionally referred to heatedly as 'Frog Men', they were famed in their use of poison and stealth attacks throughout the Neck. The Reeds, however, played no part in the Northern Wars. Armies marched to and fro through the Neck largely unimpeded with only a sparce few exceptions: First would be when the Freys attempted to claim the Neck as their own and second when House Ryswell attempted to claim the Neck for themselves. They won the first, but lost the second. The House of Reed persisted even when Howland Reed lost his seat: Jojen carried on the name having two sons. However, it was not enough. There is only a single Reed left, and it is a woman beginning to move beyond child bearing age, which will spell the end of the House of Reed, as Meera Reed's five children were all Flints. They were replaced by the House of Marsh in the role of ruling the Neck as the Ryswell cannot hold it on their own.

1 Living Member, Leona Reed, 136 Prestige

House Marsh

The House of Marsh were a minor house of Lords under the Reeds. Like most 'Frog Men', they did not move too far from the Neck and their ancestral homeland. Other houses in the Neck did the same. When the Reeds were deposed from their seat and their house headed towards oblivion much of the Lords of the Neck remained in place. Many of these houses would remain largely unchanged, but Marsh grew in prominence slowly as time went on. Eventually they became of such importance to the Western High Lords that one of them would marry Jutta, High Lady of the Barrowlands and the Lady of Moat Cailin. Their children will be of the House Marsh, catapulting the House into greater prominence.

13 Living Members, 85 Prestige

House Grovefort

Founded by Grance Grovefort and claiming to be descended from Arya Stark, the House of Grovefort was one of the main facilitators of the Northern Wars after Serra Star's descendants were pushed from the seat of Winterfell. In the end, they were the victor of the Northern Wars even if great emnity remains between the major factions the Groveforts are also attempting to broker a peace between some of the factions. Leonette Grovefort, Lady Paramount and Warden of the North, is marred to the Greenfields and her children are of that House. Her brother maintains High Lordship of the Wolf's Wood and through him the House's name will continue on. Interestingly enough, Grovefort has made a habit of marrying their daughters into prominent households: The Baratheons, Arryn, and Ryswell. Some of their daughters have married into the House of Winterfell, coopting the name entirely to suit the purposes of a cadet branch of Grovefort. Perhaps even more intriguing would be the individual named Cedric Snow and Lord of Bywater. He was taken on to be the Consort of Daenerys Targaryen, one of three, and through him much of the Targaryens are sired. Afterward he became the consort to a prominent Targaryen-Wylde and fathered four more children.

How does Bran have a wife before age 16?

The most important question is:

How many living members has House Frey? :p I hope you ran a proper extermination campaign on them.
I kicked them out of the Crossing and most of them killed each other at one point or another (there's at least five or six kinslayers just amongst Walder's sons), but they have the nasty habit of showing up anywhere and everywhere.
