In order to plan my production properly , I would like to know how much electricity is produced by a coal plant. Somehow I cannot clearly see how the production is determined and on what factors it relies.

If I go to an existing coal power plant and select location details, it tells me that the power plant can have a possible output of 1,630,000 MWh. I guess this is the annual figure. A full industrial complex with 6 units would therefore be able to produce 9,780,000 MWh of electricity per year.

In my game, if I hover over a full industrial complex with 6 coal power plants it gives me an annual output value of 6,781,381 MWh. Why is this lower than the above mentioned 9,780,000 MWh? Does it have to do with supply? In the location details there is a field "supply" which is at 56% for the industrial complex in question. Is this the variable that is causing the reduced output of the facilities? If I calculate 44% on my vaule of 6,781,381 MWh I end up close to the value of 9,780,000 MWh. So how can I increase the supply value? Coal is provided 100%. Do I need to build supply depots? If yes, how many?

You are correct to assume that the reason that your power plants are not producing at 100% is supply issues. To increase supply, you must build supply depots. In order for supply depots to operate at peak efficientcy, they must be built at a Military Complex (don't ask me why they don't work as well when built on cities or industrial complexes). To achieve 100% supply usually requires that 4 supply depots be built at one complex.

More than an oil plant, much, much more at least in 1951. The problem with the power plant (other), is that the (other) fuel is not supposed to be abundant, or fuel efficient as coal or oil. I have many such power plants, as I wanted to close the oil and coal plants. The oil situation is worrisome for me, playing India. The Chancellor of East Germany considers India, a model of socialism. I have a six billion surplus, and he wants to urgently sell me technology, easy for me to research, and I want to urgently. I have five research slots, same as the Soviet Union.
10-03-2013(edit date). Just appears, that with correct tech, the 'other' power plant will generate 1 million mega watts of electricity. Research can bring down the cost of services, and commodities. I feel, if research can make the nation consume less resources, then the individual will also somehow consume less of what is produced, when he realises that less consumption is an idea, to be used, not only because you can consume more, but also to make needs and wants less of a consideration.
