I didn't mean any offense I perfectly understand that you are close to your mod having worked on it for a long time. Your historical accuracy point is arguable though, personally I prefer the vanilla unit arrangement as being more accurate.
I felt it was useful to many people, who might like me want to use SKIF etc, to point out that your mod does alter the unit arrangements from the vanilla version so that SKIF and other mods, that rely on this arrangement, are adversely affected. I should have perhaps clarified that your mod mucks up the SKIF mod and any mods that rely on the default AoD ordering of units, rather than generalising about 'mods in general'.
Well, while I'm not an English-native speaker, "muck up" doesn't exactly seem a nice term to me; "alter", for example, would have sounded more polite, that's all.
In any case, historical accuracy is always arguable as such but it's a fact we can agree on, I think, that Tempests and Typhoons were mostly armed with rockets and attacked ground targets rather (or, simply, more often) than Spitfires. Or maybe you don't agree on this, and state that they were primarily used to intercept German bombers?
The fact that my mod has a slightly different aircraft setup than SKIF is perfectly normal, since it's the Tripartite Pack and not SKIF. So, if you want to play with SKIF, very well, it's your choice and you're absolutely free to do so; the same is true for the Tripartite Pack. The only thing that everyone installing a mod should
always do is making beforehand a backup of the previous files (or use JSGME), in order to be able to revert them quickly if he does not like the changes. But that is standard behaviour which is true for
every kind of mod, so I really see no point in stressing this here.
Edit:
I see you've edited your post after my initial reply, a couple of minutes ago, so here's a brief answer to the new lines:
You have a point about Typhoons and Tempests but to be honest I am not that bothered about the realism aspects to that degree as long as I can use the SKIF icons I am prepared to make that sacrifice of a little realism. If it bothered me that much I would alter the SKIF icon ordering themselves but I am not.
Then I really don't know what else to say. If you agree that Tempests/Typhoons should rather be Fighters, then Spitfires should be Interceptors, hence my mod has got it right. However, I'm in no way contesting your reasons, nor the fact that vanilla is a bit inaccurate from this point of view - I'm just guessing what is this all about.
I look forward to seeing how your mod develops in the future.
Very well! But if you expect the aircraft models to revert to the vanilla ones, then I'm afraid you'll have to have
a lot of patience
