No idea what is happening, but in playing the single-player campaign, I've been having no issues all along.
Got all the way through the NATO (well, whatever) campaign, four missions into the Russian campaign, today's patch comes along, and...suddenly, I can no longer play.
When I get a large-ish number of units in the air (currently in 'On the Rocks' from the Russian side), the game will just...well, it's weird. It doesn't stop playing, the map just stops updating.
I can toggle back and forth between the 2D and 3D windows, and when the 3D window is full-size, the water is waving away at VERY high speed as if time compression is on (but it's not, running at 1x when seeing that). However, that's the only thing happening. Nothing moves on the maps. Audio is playing fine (no weird "interrupted looping" sound). 3d is responsive-ish. It's just...no units are moving. At all. I can't increase or decrease time compression, and the 3d view LOOKS like full time compression is on, although only 1x is indicated.
And if I hit 'Esc' to bring up the menu...nothing happens. The game does lock up proper, then. If I alt-tab away, I can't alt-tab back, it's just...seized up. But I can let it run without doing that as long as I want, and the 3d window just sits there running away like a chicken with its head cut off, tabbing back and forth from large to small view, although nothing else happens at all.
As mentioned, Steam reports 30+ hrs play for me, and I've never had a problem at any point - no crashes, lockups, freezes, or anything - up until today's patch.
