more fiefs!

how do I get more fiefs (I am part of a faction)

I know that the calculation decides how gets the fief when a few lords take a castle/city, but my renown is 200! still far away from it! if I take a castle myself, will I be able to keep it?

and how do I use politics to influence the king to give more fiefs to me?

If your faction leader likes you a lot you will be offered a lot of fiefs (whether you had anything to do with capturing them or not). Of course it is rather difficult to get your faction leader to like you a lot.

Also, unless you are taking a castle/town that has recently had its garrison depleted, expect to get a least a few points of renown for taking it.
