[Mod]Rise of Empires (Empire creation mod)

Rise of Empires

What this mod allows you to do:
-Turn any five Duchies into a Kingdom.
-Turn any four Kingdoms into an Empire, Including Duchy Kingdoms.
-High enough Crown Laws allow Titular Kingdoms and Empires to prevent their direct and secondary vassals from warring each other or anyone, with the exception of plots/depose/independence.
-Lithuanians and Russians have Grand Duchies for their Kingdom titles.
-All Religions are playable(Requires 1.04 and up).
-HRE and ERE will struggle if played by the AI to prevent "blobbings".

Restrictions for Empire and Kingdom creation:
-Kings and Emperors cannot create new Kingdoms from Duchies.
-Emperors cannot create new Empires from Kingdoms.
-AI Duchies cannot create Kingdoms under player Emperors.
-Player and AI Kings must be independent from their liege in order to form an Empire.

Your Empire on creation will be an Empire of your primary Kingdom, for example if your playing the Kingdom of Ireland and own a total of at least three other Kingdoms making a total of four, you will gain the ability to enact a decision to form the Irish Empire. You can now do the same for Duchies, with the exception of Duchies requiring five to form a Kingdom.

Feel free to post any ideas.

Changes:
Version 1.10 4/5/12
-Fixed a problem with Kings and Emperors not being able to declare war for their vassals or claimants who hold a claim on a title outside the realm when Crown Law was Absolute.
-Added stability issues for the Holy Roman Empire and especialy the Byzantine Empire when played by an AI. This should help slow down the HRE and ERE from spreading as much, and the ERE will have a higher chance of slowly being taken apart by the muslims.
-Slightly tweaked Kingdom and Empire creation for both player and AI, giving the AI an advantage due to their ability to not expand as well as a player.
-Duchy Kingdom requirements:
-Players Hold 5 total Duchies.
-AI holds 3 total Duchies if independent.
-AI holds 4 duchies if their liege is an Emperor.
-Wealth and Piety cost has not been altered.
-The AI still cannot create Kingdoms under player Emperors to prevent exploiting.

-Empire price changes:
-Players:
-2000 gold
-1000 prestige
-500 piety
-AI:
-700 gold
-400 prestige
-Requirements to form an Empire is still four total Kingdoms for both player and AI.

Version 1.09b 4/2/12
-Removed a duplicate decision for forming the Finland Empire.
-Creating the Kingdom of Venice no longer forms the Kingdom of Abbasid anymore.

Version 1.09a 3/21/12
-Changed crown law requirement to prevent vassals fighting eachother back down to Medium rather then High.

Version 1.09 3/21/12
-Changed cb_types.txt to not rely on war prevention flags and instead is instant when crown laws change.
-Fixed a few bugs that may have allowed some vassals to war in some situations that should not be possible.
-Changed Byzantium Empire back to Byzantine Empire after an accidental change on one of the patches.
-War Prevention Law.txt and Empire Law fix.txt is no longer in use.

Version 1.08b - 3/14/12
-Fixed the war prevention to work correctly, originally forgot to add a few things which messed up the cbs in 1.08a.

Version 1.08a - 3/14/12
-War prevention with crown law now extends to a second tier vassal, anyone that is a vassal of a vassal of yours;
-War prevention for Emperors will only extend to two tiers so they will rely on their King vassal's crown laws to prevent third tier vassals from fighting anyone else in their Empire.

Version 1.08 - 3/13/12
-All Religious groups are playable(Requires 1.04 or above).
-Fixed Feudal Contract law to transfer correctly when forming a Kingdom or an Empire.
-"Kingdom of" changed to "Grand Duchy of" for any Kingdom that has Russian or Lithuanian set as the ruling culture.
-Grand Duchy localization now translated to French, German, and Spanish versions of CK2.
-Place holder character now gets banished when using the Kingdom/Empire forming decision to prevent the character death sound, and the event that sometimes triggers thinking someone killed them.
-Removed duplicate check for peace when creating a Kingdom through decision.
-Welsh Empire name changed.

Version 1.07b - 3/10/12
-Fixed Kingdom's names to show correctly again in the decisions.

Version 1.07a - 3/10/12
-Modified changes in landed_titles.txt to the newest version of CK2.

Version 1.07 - 3/10/12
-Modified changes in cb_types.txt to the newest version of CK2.
-Empire names now show on the map and the default title_prefix has been removed from Empires entirely.
-Modified the Empire and Kingdom forming decision names.
-Fixed a bug that would show multiple options in an event that enabled war prevention among vassals when Crown law was modified.
-Duchy AI can now also form a Kingdom under an AI Empire but not under a player Empire to prevent exploiting.

Version 1.06 - 3/5/12
-High enough Crown Laws now prevents direct vassals from warring each other or anyone outside the realm with any Titular Kingdom/Empire.

Version 1.05 - 3/3/12
-All Kingdoms and Empires have been localized and translated, so their names should show correctly.
-Creating a Kingdom as a vassal of an Empire no longer removes you from the Empire.
-Completely changed the Forming Empire/Kingdom decisions to use less coding and instead calls in an event.

In order to keep a Duchy Kingdom as a vassal under an Empire, I had to make the decision instantly create a character that first gains the Kingdom and runs an event that does the following which happens instantly:
-Sets himself as your son.
-Sets the new Kingdoms Laws to his father/mother's Laws.
-Sets his Liege to his father/mother's liege.
-Transfers the Kingdom to his father/mother.
-Removes himself as your son and becomes a son of another character(Did this to stop an event that would sometimes trigger accusing someone of killing him).
-Both temporary characters die.

Version 1.04a - 3/1/12
-Added a quick fix for Empires and Kingdoms to be able to enact a decision that will add Crown Laws incase anyone created an Empire on an older version or if for some strange reason it bugs up.

Version 1.04 - 2/29/12
-Human players can now form a Kingdom with an Emperor as their liege.
-Brittany now correctly requires 3 Duchies instead of 1 to form a Kingdom.

Version 1.03a - 2/28/12
-Fixed the original Empires that stopped functioning in the decision after 1.02's creation.

Version 1.03 - 2/27/12
-Fixed the new Duchy Empires to gain their laws from their Kingdoms on creation correctly.
-Added a missed Duchy to the Kingdom and Empire list: Novgorod-Seversk.
-Default Russian Kings will now have their title set as Grand Duke.

Version 1.02 - 2/27/12
-Duchies can now be turned into Kingdoms, the requirements are as following:
-Three of any Duchy
-400 gold
-200 piety
-You must not already own a Kingdom or an Empire
-Updated the gold and prestige requirements to form an Empire:
-1000 gold
-400 prestige
-New Empires created for every new Kingdom
-All Kingdoms and Empires created by decisions now require you to not be a vassal and not at war with anyone.

Version 1.01 - 2/24/12
Major bug fixed that wouldn't transfer your laws to your newly formed Empire

Will this mod work with new kingdoms added from other mods, or will it work as any kingdom? Also, if it will work with any kingdom added in mods, could I use this mod in my Community Shattered Europe Scenario?

Those new kingdoms wouldn't be able to create their own empire unless its also modded in(but they will count twards the 4 kingdom requirements). It right now works with any kingdoms in the current version of CK2. It might not be compatible with other mods unless you copy the Titular empires from the landed_titles.txt file, which is easy, search # TITULAR EMPIRES in that file and you can just basically copy all of them(they are right at the bottom of the file) and place them into your file. After that it should be compatible. Unless you use a differnt file with a differnt name then landed_titles.txt, if thats the case then its already compatible.

Would you allow me to adept some of your ideas for the BGA mod?

Your free to do so. Anyone can take this and adapt this to their own mod if they would like.

Could you do the same for Kingdoms ? I mean, when someone own 3 duchy, let him create a kingdom ? Because when a character own 3 duchies, he got relations penalty I'd like to avoid (And create the Kingdom of Brittany, that, for some reason, disappear between CK1 and CK2 :)

Found a major bug, right now your laws arn't transfering over to your Empire. I'm currently fixing this and will post the update once i'm done with the copy and pasting through the huge list of Empires.
New version to fix the bug that wouldn't allow law transfer to the newly formed Empire.

It can be done with duchies into a kingdoms too, but you would still get the relations penalty for owning too many duchies unless modded out. Creating a mod to turn 3 duchies into a kingdom could be a large under taking due to the amount of duchies in comparison to kingdoms. But I'll think about it.

I know you still have the relations penalty. But you can't give your duchy title as it would release the vassal, unless you become a kingdom :)
Theres a total of 423 duchies so that will be a big undertaking. Thats also a total of 423 new Kingdoms and 423 new Empire possibilities if I do that. However if I do decide to mod that in, I'll probably have the duchies requirement higher then 3 to form a kingdom, and I probably wouldn't let a kingdom form a second kingdom when owning more dutchies.

However I do agree it would be interesting to turn any of your dutchies into a Kingdom.

Edit, on a side note this could be crazy if your an emperor and you give your vassals a bunch of duchies, they could form their own kingdoms under you, so players might abuse the duchies and send them to one person, then revoke all of their dutchies and send them to another vassal, and repeat until their empire has a bunch of kings, so it would probably be safe to prevent kingdom formation as a vassal.

Yes for sure. To create your kingdom you would have to be independant. And once you're king, you can't create any kingdom anymore. And maybe something that would make you drop that title when you loose control over a certain amount of duchies (loose control, not under control of vassals)

is it possible to change the requirements for the empire forming? and how?
Under mod\Rise of Empires\decisions, open up forming_empires.txt and look up any empire you wish to change. Anything under potential is a check to see if your a king, makes sure you have the correct primary kingdom, your not an emperor, and nobody is an emperor of that particular empire. To change the required amount of kingdoms, treasure, piety, ect... go under allow = { and you can edit those settigs which are require to be met before you can enact the decision. For example here is the code to form the Empre of Aragon:

Code:
create_e_aragon = {
		is_high_prio = yes
		potential = {
			is_ruler = yes
			primary_title = { tier = KING }
			primary_title = { title = k_aragon }
			NOT = { primary_title = { tier = EMPEROR } }
			NOT = { any_independent_ruler = { has_landed_title = e_aragon } }
		}
		allow = {

			piety = 300
                                      prestige = 500

num_of_king_titles is the amount of kingdoms you need.

thanks

question though.

is it possible to do this for kingdoms? and how?

and is it possible to make this into a general formula?

like for example:

"create_e_aragon"

change in to "create_e_x"

with "x" being your main title?

Great mod! I like this a lot better than creating a bunch of de jure empires.

Finally, decision triggered titular empires! Thank you Adohleas!

Love this idea, but as a bella gerant alii player I was going to have to figure out how to put it in myself. Glad you're going to let GAGA run with it, and glad GAGA is going to run with it. I can't wait!
